Mike, you won't have to twist my arm too hard to get back out there with ya! John, in that case (pike love em) I'm glad I have two of them! -Brian

What self-respecting muskie would hit something that small?? -Brian
-
Thanks Lew! My Muskie lure collection is growing fast and will soon rival that of a muskie angler that knows what the heck (s)he's doing! I got my biggun' last season trolling, this years goal is to catch one casting. I had a little taste of it last season when a 50"er (in Steve's opinion, I didn't get a good look at it) nailed my lure while sending my line out to the p-board. I probably didn't get a good hook set with just my thumb on the free spool. Okay, now I'm getting all excited! -Brian

RRSPs - Are You Contributing This Year (NF)
SlowPoke replied to bigbuck's topic in General Discussion
My contribution level is directly related to my amount owing. I'd like to contribute more but debt retirement takes precidence over my retirement! Something I have done for the last three years is making my contribution in the first 60 days and parking it in a bond fund until mid to late summer. I got tired of watching my new investments spike at RSP season only to dive in April/May and spend the summer inching there way back into black. I don't have hard data on my findings but I think I'm ahead of the game versus purchasing indexed funds at this time of year. It 'feels' good anyway LOL -Brian -
Sorry about the typo, I was in a rush and I needed to 'p' LOL!! Keep an eye out for 'em... I hope to soon, my wife has an application in at the post office but for now I just keep the driveway clear for the mail man! I'll let you know next year around this time how special they were...

It was a good day to check the mailbox (besides the HBC bill). A box of 11 muskie lures - thanks Dax A letter and sticker from St. Croix (does this mean they sonsered me? LOL) A shiney new Cabela's "Master Catalog" I think I'll call in sick tonight for work -Brian

Welcome BB, good luck on the Nip trip, looking forward to a report! -Brian

Those were the good ole days... when you had time to pull the tour bus over between gigs and fish out of your squareback.

I'm still waiting for a golf inspired skin. You could call it ____skin.
-
I wish I had "the club" in my Jeep the other night!

Thank you for restoring the Driftwood skin. I prefer the colours and the icons. I also like the default ipb but there is/was an issue at the top of the page with the OFC logo and blog, gallary buttons ec. wrapping. That may be my display settings however. Another issue I noticed, in my profile it defaults to the "Topics" tab. It so happens that my recent topics include images which push the right column off the screen. Could we have a side-scroller on the topic tab instead of having to side-scroll the entire page? Love the new features too! -Brian edit: I see the default ipb skin is different than yesterday - it works fine, very fast!

Thanks everyone for the replies. I didn't want to come off as a whiner because it cost me a bunch of money to get my vehicle back. What angers me most is the costs passed on to me to obtain the fingerprints. When I insured the vehicle and declined theft/collision (all perils), I accepted the fact that I would not receive compensation from the insurance company for damages and expenses. I didn't anticipate accepting the costs leading to the arrest of the suspects. Why should I be the sole bearer of costs that lead to the arrest of the vehicle theft AND break and enter charges of the other victims? I'm glad I'm not the only person that feels that way and I think I will persue compensation for towing charges up until the tow to my home. Anybody know where to start? I will also persue restitution (thanks Rick & Phat) and failing that may go the small claims court route for the remaining costs and damages. -Brian
-
They caught the guys... they needed to fingerprint my vehicle to tie a few cases together. There were break and enter tools found in my vehicle... match the Jeep prints, match the tool prints, match the b&e prints to the guys found on the scene and you have a case. On my dime. Not to mention a days pay. -Brian Great input Rick & Phat... that hadn't occured to me. Should I contact the arresting officer for information or simply present my "occurance number" to the Crown and begin on that level?

It's not insured for collision/theft, just the bare minimum to drive legally. -Brian

Jeep update with damage report & pics http://www.ofncommunity.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=2951

There was a lot more damage then was described over the phone. What burns me most is the towing charges. The Police said I could pick up the Jeep from the recovery location and then said they need it for fingerprints. So.... $190 - recovery to the impound $41 - storage $30 - move it from inside to outside after fingerprinting was done $55 - tow it to my house ====== $316 SubTotal $18.76 GST ====== $334.96 Total I don't mind paying to have it towed home but am I wrong in thinking the Police should be responsible for costs incurred to obtain fingerprints? It's an easy fixer for someone with a shop but I won't be able to do anything with it until spring. If anybody is interested in buying it PM or email me... it has a ton of new parts and rebuilt engine.

That's the best news I've heard all day! It must feel like you've been holding your breath for six months and you can finally exhale. I wish we could bring 'em all back! -Brian

Update... The two "yutes" in question are in custody and my Jeep is being towed to a compound a mile from my house for fingerprints. The cop, without giving up too many details said it was probably taken to commit other crimes and she seemed familier with the suspects. The Jeep was followed for a couple of minutes and they parked it in a parking lot and took off on foot and were later caught. The cop hasen't inspected the vehicle for damage but she believes it wasn't involved in any collisions and will likely just be igniton damage. They will call me when it's been printed later today to pick it up. I don't know if I'm happy or not.. while waiting I was surfing for a new vehicle and found a nice 2003 Cadillac DeVille with 90K for $13,000. I guess it'll have to wait. I have to say, I didn't expect the police would do much about it... an older vehicle, not worth much... just wait until somebody reports it sitting somewhere with broken windows and no tires. I reported it at 2:40AM, police arrived at 3:15AM and found it at 4:00AM. Good work by the boys and girls in blue! -Brian
-
Good news.... maybe.... Police called me to tell me that the Jeep was persued and they didn't spike belt it so my tires are intact. The thieves parked it and took off on foot. The canine unit was called in and they will call me back when I can come pick it up. -Brian

Please keep an eye out for my Jeep, stolen from London Tuesday night / Wednesday morning

I'll be heading to the London fishing show.... but.... When going to these shows, try to forget the bargains in the old days, cost of admission/parking etc. Go for the entertainment value, check out new products, check out seminars and enjoy yourself. It's still cheaper than going to the movies! Some of my best memories of past shows include the introduction of Shimano "Super Stopper" reels, the awe inspiring Advanced Taxidermy displays and the build of anticipation for the coming season. I can't for the life of me remember any of the deals I got over the years! -Brian
-
I'm mostly a baitcaster guy but I mounted my Shimano Spirex spinning reel on a Shimano Convergance rod. I'm really happy with it... good feel and action for the money. Around $50.00 -Brian

They're not laughing at the PFD, they're laughing because you're not wearing anything underneath it! -Brian
