Boat Plug - 2nd time out and no list
SlowPoke replied to love2fishhave2work's topic in General Discussion
No plug problems for me on the maiden voyage... 1 in the hole and 2 in the toolbox. I did however forget the paddles at home! -
Hey Dax, pretty nice day out there eh? Shorts and a tee-shirt on "O" in April, I was lovin' it. I think we saw you guys near Jordan.... JJ pointed out a boat going by all trimmed up. You guys were still going pretty quick 3.5-4 mph? We had 1 rip each but nothing to the boat. We launched at around 8:30-9 from Port D then went over to Jordan, down to Weller and back to Port D. We didn't see much action around us, glad you were able to get one! -Brian

Thanks everyone! Kind of a crappy day... only saw my family for about ten minutes in the morning... spent the day running around wasting time and spending money and my b-day meal was a Chicken Caeser Salad at McDonalds around 11PM. The highlight of my day was getting an extra packet of salad dressing. Fortunately the family and I celebrated last weekend... cake.. fishing toys.. hugs & kisses etc. JJ, as for white hair? I just hope to have hair at all in a couple more years!

I'm feeling a little ripped off for Q points because of the weather... I guess Yahoo isn't giving out the points. My guy's Q'd 1, 3, 5, 6, 7, 8, 14, 18... hmmm decisions.

PM'd you. Also, don't rely on feedback or feedback percentage. Many disgruntled buyers won't leave a negitive feedback because so many poor sellers leave retaliatory negs. Found this article while spell checking retaliatory.. http://ebay.about.com/od/glossaryofebayter.../gl_retfeed.htm For a true sense of a good seller, ask questions. If they answer your questions quickly and completely there is a good chance the (s)he is a good 'eBayer'. Take time to check thier feedback, not just percentage. A seller can have 99% good feedback and still ripoff 100 of 10,000 people. Check feedback left for others. If they left a neg for a buyer, check out the buyers feedback. Try to get a feel for what happened in these negitive transactions. Conversly, don't rule out a seller based on poor feedback. One of my best purchases came from a once-in-a-while seller with low 90%... he had been burned by a seller, left a neg. and received a retaliatory neg. from a seller whose account was later cancelled. I would also recommend paying by PayPal for it's buyer protection... I've recieved 100% refunds on two claims through PayPal yet only the $200 max because I paid by money order on an eBay claim that I assisted in getting a scammer in Ottawa convicted for a digital camara scam. I buy a lot on eBay and used to sell (over 2000 transactions) before the US Dollar plunge made it fruitless. -Brian

There's a big difference in "going all the way" and "winning it all", ask Marv Levy. -Brian

Do you guys just go outside, whine about the cold and then blame it on Canada? It's not our fault. P.S. keep your smog. http://wwwa.accuweather.com/maps-satellite...m=1&large=1

You'll make a good Senators fan some day, just go easy on the cheese with that whine. Leafs lost more then they won, Habs won more then they lost. I'm not sure why people (you're not alone) fail to consider the OTL's when quoting a percentage record. I hear it all the time on the radio... regular time or overtime, it's still a loss. Yes, the Hab's killed the Leafs in OT and I was sure it was going to come back to bite 'em.... i.e. Leafs win in overtime, Hab's still advance due to the extra point. I agree completely... I'd love to see ten minutes of 4 on 4, I'd be exhausted just watching it.
-
For the classy Hab's fans in this thread I will add this.... ..............W......L......OTL Toronto ..40.....31......11 Montreal..42....34........6 The Leafs may make the playoffs with a losing record. The Habs won't make the playoffs with a winning record. I hate this overtime point thing and I'm a Leaf fan.

I have a truck, you're welcome to leave it in there.

It's a very nice Muskie rod worth about $140 new. Cast or troll it do both well.

If you're going to connect the motors for steering, this might interest you for throttle control... stumbled across it for sale on another forum. http://forums.quintefishing.com/phpBB2/viewtopic.php?t=4451

Be careful, when stored in rafters those St. Croix's become unstable and could blow apart at any moment leaving you scared for life. I'll come by and pick it up for you. How much would you like to spend for a reel?
-
Thanks fishindevil, that pretty much is what I had in mind.. snubbers for the biggun's on braid/wire. Would wire be overkill for a BOQ setup? I ask because I already have 5:1 linecounter and roller rod I was hoping to use for Erie, Ontario and BOQ.
-
Anybody here using a snubber for braid or wire between the dipsy and fluoro leader?

... and I would have guessed a few years too early -
I think if you factor in your time and effort there are some jobs worth doing right, once. Not sure about your situation though. The following carpeting reference is just an analogy.. just coincidence that carpet came to mind: You can replace a cheap light bulb four times or replace a good one once in two years... no big deal. You can use a cheap underpad for three years under a nice carpet but eventualy it feels hard understep and you have to remove the carpet to replace it... a big deal. I hope it wears well for you and it's an easy install... who knows, you might get five years out of it! -Brian

I'm already sold on that reel Lew but they're a big chunk of change! I still want to upgrade my riggers, add 6 Down Easters, Bert's Tracks, Bert's Mast, upgrade the fishfinder, replace my floor, add a built-in fuel tank, upgrade to a 4 stroke kicker... I wish I could afford to do it all at once but some things may have to wait. The boat was the cheap part! -Brian
