  1. fishing gets tougher down there each year. the area gets pounded with anglers and the fish are very accustomed to seeing all they have to throw. nite fishing can be good. as long as people practice catch and release it can continue to be a good fishery. u would really be amazed at the amount and quality of the fish down there. but its a place u really have to put ur time in. some days are good, some are very bad.
  2. lol who says u cant fish in the marinas? theres accessable areas around the marinas u can fish.
  3. theres no real wrong way to fish them. easiest way is a weighted tube head jig, and drag it on bottom, just let the bait slide along, idiot proof. can also fish it on a drop shot, either tesax rigged or nose hooked. u can texas rig it with a heavy weight and flip it, or punch mats and think weeds, can also texas rig it weightless and skip under docks or trees, fish it as a top water over pads, or fish it like a soft jerkbait and twitch it
  4. Late summer into the fall and u will see a lot of fish come to the boat with it, and some pigs at that!
  5. It should lossen up a bit after a couple trips. I wouldn't bother opening it
  6. Yea, I don't buy that story much at all. But they can survive winters here. Pirhanas too. I seen 3 caught in local waters one being pulled through the ice. I believe the pacu's that were caught were in lake simcoe?
  7. im gonna go on a limb and say no... not caught on lake of the woods. looks like a white sturgeon to me, which doesnt reside in lake of the woods. that would be from BC on the fraser river most likely. gorgeous fish though
  8. Parise is still young, he's only gonna get better. The contracts won't hurt the team. And no, no player is worth the money they are paid. Toronto already overspent on a lackluster player... Grabovski. No need to dump more money Komisarek is the only defensive dman they have left. If they play him proper minutes, he'll be solid on the back end. Gardiner is still learning and we'll see how he handles year 2. Phaneuf and liles were useless last year.
  9. Well before the signing, cup odds were 200-1 And after, 20-1 What's that tell ya about the expectations? And toronto won't get luongo, #1, price is stupid high to get him. #2, he doesn't wanna play in toronto and has reportedly taken them off his list of teams to accept a trade too. Problem solved, go with the 2 young, good, capable goalies u have, keept ur draft picks and prospects, build on ur defense, try to replace luke schenn on the back end, hope JVR can play 82 games and contribute something and work on getting a scoring center for the top 6, and see what the kids can do
  10. Nash won't be in toronto. Burke won't give up the ridiculous amount that columbus is asking for.
  11. U have to match the rod with the cranks u wanna throw, using a 7'6 or 7'11 med/hvy rod to throw small cranks won't work, u need to down size the rod to a 7' medium rod rated for those baits and u will get better cating distance from them. I throw my medium and deep diving cranks on a 7'6" med/hvy shimano crucial with a chronarch E5 and 12lb flouro. No trouble with casting distance. When I throw smaller cranks or shallow divers, 7' medium on a chronarch E5 with 10lb flouro, or even sometimes braid depending on cover in the area. Distance isn't always as important as u think. Casting to the rite areas and working the bait to the proper depth, and making contact with cover and bottom at times is a far more important factor. Distance is important to me when I'm fishing deep diving cranks, and typically fishing them over large flats or or drop offs, reefs, rock piles. Where I can let the bait run a while and need time to get it to the rite depth
  12. luongo wont help them either if theres no defense. keep in mind, it was a lack of defense that cost vancouver the cup 2 years ago, and ousted them from the playoffs this year. luongo let in bad goals, every goalie does, but without the guys in front of you playing.... the goalie wont make much of a difference. reimer can carry this team, and he will. trading anyone for a goalie would be stupid, its a waste of a player. if u want a veteran to back up, sign someone via free agency. u dont need to get a 5 mil a yer guy like luongo to back up and mentor a young goalie. u get a vet with solid mechanics and fundimentals. dont need to be the winningest goalie of all time, just needs to have a good head on his shoulders to show the kids the way to be a professional. and, as far as kids go, especially goalies.... good luck finding a more mature, level headed one the reimer.
  13. this has been the leafs problem for so many years!!! its that mentality from fans and media that has pushed so many GM's in leaf land to make dumb moves to try and jumpstart a contender. they sell the future for some veterans hoping they can get the leafs in the playoffs. but when burke unloads all those contracts and wasted roster spots, and starts getting young talent and they start drafting and developing players, then u all cry that they arent moving forward and they need to "solve the problems" by trading those players and getting guys like nash and luongo for a quick fix. the marlies went to the calder cup finals, they had an excellant season, were a top team in the league and showed that the leafs were on the right track, developing players. burke has made some great moves. im not thrilled with the schenn deal, but kessel was a good pick up. 30+ goals each year for the leafs since being here, moved out all the big contracts he was left with, got lupol, gardiner, colborne, franson. the players they have drafted are all coming along very well and will only continue to improve. if being an NHL GM was easy.,.. everyone would have the job.
  14. Parise would be a great addition! I'm all for that. And the reason luongo is still a canuck is because vancouver is asking a ton for him. And they won't move him unless they get what they're asking for. I wouldn't be shocked to see him stay where he is another year
  15. lol ur kidding rite? u actually want the leafs to sell the farm to get luongo?? u want a goalie under contract for big money the next 10 years, who hasnt won anything in his career? hes a gret goalie, but not worth getting when u have 2 or 3 guys in ur system tht can win gmes for u for a long time. lets not forget that reimer and scrivens both plyed very well nd won the leafs games they shouldnt have won. the leafs biggest problems were a poor defense, and the need for another scoring forward down the middle. even with JVR they still need a big skilled center. trading schenn only hurt the tem as they now have only one stand up defensive dman, komisarek. phaneuf has been useless as a leaf. liles about the same, only served purpose on the power play. gunnarson is more of a puck moving dman, good in his own end, but not the bruising, shutdown dman they need. Gardiner is still young, has time to grow, more of an offensive thret, but plays well in his own end, considering his age. problem is, as each year passes, people will point out his mistakes more and more... kinda like they did with schenn. gardiner made a lot of mistakes last year, giveaways, poor positioning, mental mistakes, but everyone let it slide because of his age, and the fact hes a rookie outta college. young players need time to grow and learn, schenn is gonna be a force in philly, gonn play big minutes and will be an allstar this year or next. JVR.... lets hope he can play a full season and maybe it'll be worth what they gave up to get him
  16. It'll be a deadly bait in the fall, when bass are feeding on schools of shad and minnows. Gonna see some big sacks of fish come in with that rig. Ill be throwing it on erie forsure!
  17. Stupid trade... So much for improving the team. Guess having a dman that blocks shots and actually hits opposing players is bad for ur team... Good thing we still have phaneuf!
  18. Lol they don't need a goalie!! They have 3 or 4 in the organization at least that showed they can win games. U can't fault a goalie that gets run by another player and gets hurt, or that has no help in front of him. Trading for a goalie would be plain stupid. Waste of prospects/draft picks/players. Staal will never come to the leafs, it wouldn't even be a thought to get him. Nash will cost too much, but we'll see how much burke could whittle down the jackets on their asking price. Parise is the only free agent really worth signing as a free agent. Schenn is a solid dman, u want poor play, phaneuf was the worst on the blueline last year.
  19. If staal leave pitts, he's goin to the canes to play with his big bro. There is no goaltending issue in toronto and to waste a trade to get a goalie is stupid. Leafs should pick gregorenko or galenchyuk at 5, yakupov should go 2nd with edmonton picking ryan murray.
  20. I always spray blakemore reel magic on my line the nite before I fish. Helps a lot with the line conditioner on it to reduce the memory. I've run braid to flouro, and caught fish. But, that's the beauty of the sport, everyone has their own preference and comfort zone, and as long as it works for u, no one can tell u its wrong!
  21. Hate running braid to flouro, no need for the extra knots. My personal opinion, medium/light rods, may lack the power for bigger smallies. I go meduim power, xtra fast tip. 6'10" length.
  22. If u wanna spend, g loomis NRX can't be beat. Wanna spend a bit less, a g loomis GLX, if u wanna get a great rod for a good price, G loomis GL2. I have one, awesome rod. Little whippy in the tip, but that can help on very light bites as it helps set the hook for u. Crucial is another great rod. I run straight 8lb flouro. On a stradic CI4
  23. Sweet lookin collection dude!!!
  24. 10lb braid is way to light of line to be throwing on a baitcaster. Typically 20lb and up on baitcasters, but I generally don't go lighter then 30lb braid on a baitcaster.
  25. Another option, should u use all braid and no backing... U typically don't get down past half way on the spool, when its time to respool, u can just tie that line onto a different reel, and reel it on. Then the old line is backing, and u have new line to fish with, get the use outta the whole spool of line.
