  1. That's why I like my beer, and have a couple every day.
  2. Nice Hut. Whatever you do, do not let the water level reach the bottom of your insulation because you may think it is waterproof, it is not. That insulation acts like a blotter and even a very small hole can suck up a lot of water. Worse yet if it does get wet, it will never dry out. Good luck in your ice-fishing season.
  3. How did you get a 3 year licence for 50 dollars. I paid over 85dollars.
  4. I've been in the building trade for many years as well. One thing I always did was to ask the subcontractor to give me actual projects they have done for other people. Take the time to look for yourself,(that alone is worth a thousand words) Ask the people how the job went for them and leave them by giving them a bottle of wine for their hospitality. When you spend that kind of money, you have to do a little bit of background checks as well. I feel for you and your wife. Spend the money and have your lawyer write them a nice letter plotting out the course they must take OR ELSE.....

  6. Is your life worth less than a set of new winter tires? Those people who have never tried good winter tires and say that all seasons are good enough do not know what they are talking about. I was one of those people as well. If you don't try them you'll never be a believer. As for spending the money on new tires and rims for snow tires, deal with a reputable tire shop, buy them, and if you buy a new vehicle, go back to the tire shop and they(most of them) will gladly give you trade in value for those that are only a year old, provided that there is still decent tread on them. There are always people looking for the same size tire and rim that you have on your vehicle. The nordic tire from good year is a good tire. NEVER COMPROMISE SAFETY FOR A FEW DOLLARS.
  7. Ever heard the quote: Out of job yet? Keep buying foreign. Look at the social benefits that you get from this country compared to what they get in the states. Your dollars spent in this country allows business to profit, who in turn put taxes in the system that YOU also benefit from. Going to the states once in a while I can see, but making a habit of it certainly does not help our country, and in the long run those who shop there.
  8. He chose to do that and paid for it himself. Are you saying you are ready to do the same. If you are, than feel good about shopping across the border. What I'm trying to say is look at the whole picture and stop looking at it for selfish reasons.
  9. Maybe you should go to the states and get your health care looked after as well.
  10. In this country you have the freedom to do what you want as long as long as you do not put anyone else at risk. That is something we have to be very thankful for. However we do not have the right to belittle anyone. He didn't purposely hurt anyone. He died doing what he loved to do. I'm sure if anyone thinks hard enough, they can come up with something in their life that they should not have done. If you can, then you were one who survived the error of your ways. Learn from what happened here and pray that his extended family may experience comfort from our heavenly father. Remember that hindsight is always 20/20.
  11. Yes Jeff does a very good job. You guys fished the same hut as we did. I'm a little jealous of you guys because Jeff didn"t make a run to the waltonian for those great burgers for us. I guess he figured we enough to eat with the fish frys we had on the ice. Thanks for the report.
  12. Jigger, Don"t give us this song and Dance. If the U.S. had nothing to gain by doing this they wouldn"t spend a dime. Remember who caused the problem. You guys also messed around with the waters of the Great Lakes in 1988 when you send billions of gallons of it's waters down the mississippi when all those barges went aground. You guys didn't ask for our approval then. Remember you guys need all the resources that we got. That's the reason you guys want to build a pipeline through from the arctic to the U.S. It not at all about anyone else, It's all about what you guys want and need.
  13. Doesn't matter anyway. In 10 years California will find a way to drain the great lakes. Mark my words.
  14. Yes feff I did forget to mention that we caught a rock bass. Thanks for setting me straight.
  15. we caught a few jigging with a small lure, but the bulk of our fish were caught on pinhead minnows. Still lineswith splitshot and minnows worked the best. The last day we were there the bite was very finicky and separated the rookies from the experienced fisherman. Good Luck. Say hello to Jeff from us.
  16. Bernie, the outfitters pay taxes to run their business on the lake. How can you say they don't contribute? The commercial fishing on the lake contributes nothing in my book.
  17. I've caught a couple of blue walleyes out of nippissing over the years as well.
  18. It was our group of 5 that caught those blue perch. We fished at Sandybay from Feb 1-4. We have caught the odd one over the years, but our group landed 5 of these blue perch on our trip. That's probably due to the fact that we caughtbetween 450-500 perch over the 4 days. We threw back about 125-150 smaller ones. We ate about 180 perch over the 4 days, and took home about 100 jumbos that were between 10-12 inches. We also had a couple of nice packages of filleted perch for my son to take home. [he is from Orlando Florida] We also caught 5 small walleyes, 2 ling, 5 herring, 1-26" pike and a 4 pound whitefish. We fished in 45 feet of water, and found that the perch were quite a bit bigger in the deeper water. Thanks to Jeff for providing everthing to make our trip a success and lots of fun.
  19. Amen Jocko. I own a second hand Matrix as well and it has been the best vehicle I have owned. Prior to that I bought a second hand Honda Civic for my daughter, And the only thing she had to do in 4 years is brakes and reoplace the power steering pump. I have had my fill of the big 3 North American cars for a while, and will not consider buying one until they earn back a good reputation. They owe us big time for bailing them out.
  20. It wouldn"t be so bad if they used this commercial fishing to become self sufficient, but the sad fact of it all is they keep asking for more gov"t money all the time. HAVE ONE LAW FOR ALL PEOPLE IN THIS COUNTRY, AND ALL YOUR PROBLEMS WILL BE SOLVED.
  21. I know that a lot of people have fished Lake Nippissing for the opening week and there have been very litle reports. I went fishing with Sandybay Jan 5,6 and 7. We had very limited success. We fished for 3 days with 4 guys and got 3 walleye, a 14" a 12" and a 9". We caught about 85 perch, with no real jumbos, 1 herring 1pike and about 10 mudpuppies. It used to be that the opening week was a bonanza for the walleye, but the last few years have painted a different picture. At least that is what it was in my experience. How about some fishing experience from those who did fish on Lake Nippissing?
  22. Where are the reports from the opener? You would think that someone caught something, and would be a little excited about it. Well maybe some want to keep it a secret. I'll be there from Mon - Thurs. I 'm going with Sandybay and hope to get a few pickeral, and A few perch as well. I've got a fellow back home here who wants me to bring him a good feed of herring as well. I'll report on Friday since it will be a long ride back on Thurs. night. Good luck to all, and may all of you come home with a good feed of fish.
  23. Where was it that you measured 8 inches of ice? Was it an outfitter that was pulling the huts out so he would be ready for the opener?
