  1. So who got busted? Was at turkey school today and we had a brief visit from the local CO for a few quick words. He mentioned that he had just come from Jordan harbour in regards to a tip from TIPS-MNR there. He wouldn't give details obviously as sometimes in Canada people are innocent until proven guilty. cd.
  2. I think the opposite is true, there are less and less people fishing these days. Once again, tell me how the shortened ice fishing season has hurt fish populations? The majority of fish taken from Simcoe is during ice fishing season. I think you post is entirely backwards. cd.
  3. OK... I am going to get myself in trouble here... Some people fish for sport, some people fish for food, some people fish to get out of the house. I fish for food. I enjoy eating them, which is why I fish for them. I only get out for walleye a couple of times a year, I have a wife and 3 kids. We all eat fish. What I get from you is that I should go out fishing, catch 1 fish and feed my family with it. Me thinks that could be tough... a 3 or 4 pound fish to feed 5 people. Because I only get out a few times a year, I think maybe I would like to keep some for a future meal, which means no I have to split that fish in half, so now I have to effectively feed 10 people... with 1 fish. Just doesn't make sense to me, but to each their own I suppose. If it were even remotely possible, I could see a yearly limit of say 24 walleye per person. Unfortunately it's not easy to develop a feasible system like this and enforcement would be that much harder. I can understand dropping some limits in places, but I think dropping the perch limit in Simcoe isn't needed. Wego up there 2-3 times a year and catch hundredsof perch each time we go, I haven't seen any decline there in years, other than size. To keep going with this, we had a late ice season, which meant lower fishing pressure, which in turn is going to help the size and population of the perch. Some places need lowered limits, some places can handle raised limits. BOQ, Nippising have both benefitted from lowered limits and slots (you know what I mean). Lake Erie has come back with a vengeance with regards to walleye, there is no reason for the limit not to have been raised. Either way, I don't fish for species I will not eat, but I expect that when I catch fish I will eat, I be allowed to do so. I've spent a lot of money over the years, as have everyone else, I expect to be able to keep enough fish to feed my family at least twice from a good fishing trip. The day anyone thinks that I am going to go fishing and bring home 1 fish to try and feed my family is the day I will begin to break the law. cd.
  4. It was definately a blast. It makes me proud to try and help make memories that will last forever. This just goes to show how far our community will go to help make life better for people where we can. Huge thanks goes out to Bill's Bait & Tackle, Fishmaster, Fishing World & Bass Pro Shops! Tracker, Hey Bud & Skeeter... what can I say? You guys went far and beyond anything I was expecting! Lastly, Gerritt and Jen... you guys are terrific. Thank you for backing me up on this idea... I hope we get to see the smile on Chris's face when he gets out and uses this stuff for some ever lasting memories. I hope we get some pics and/or video of his fishing adventures! Great time for a great cause! What more can be said. I only hope this keeps the ball rolling for making other peoples dreams come true. If any of you are unaware of why we did this, please read the link that Gerritt posted. In addition to the people and places that we mentioned, there are numerous other people who really got this thing going. These people have given so much from themselves simply for the fact that it will put a smile on a child's face. How can you ask for anything better? Thanks to all involved! Corey

    finally

Well I am in between Hamilton and St Kitts, so whenever you guys need some ballast for the front of your boats, let me know.
  6. At this point I will be getting picked up by Jen from my work on the way there, but if enough people want to make a couple of carpools for the trip, I can fit myself and 4 people comfotably in my "Soccer mom Corey minivan". If I am not mistaken Jen smokes in her truck, as do I smoke in my van, so as long as you don't burn any holes people are welcome to smoke in my mobile as well. cd.
  7. Hey ladies & gents... A few of us from the Hamilton and area contingient of OFC are making a trip to BPS on Wednesday April 18. We plan to go after we are done working, so about 5:30 to 6PM ish. So far we have Gerritt, Jen and myself in for the trip. If any of you would like to come and do some group shopping it would be more than a pleasure to meet you all. As well, if you haven't read about Speedtroll and his son Chris, we are going to piece together some tackle and lures to go along with the incredible donations of others to make Chris's life a little bit better. Corey
  8. You know they say there is strength in numbers... along with the generousity of everyone involved already, why don't we each pickup a lure or two and send it off to Chris and Speedtroll to go along with the rest of the gear he is getting. I know a have a number of brand new lures yet to be tested and would gladly box up a few to bolster Chris's tackle box. If someone can PM me a place to send them too, I will ship em off this week. cd.
  9. Twiddling my thumbs... tada tada tada, trojan virus malware what?
  10. Broadhead??? BAH! I like #5 shot from the end of my poking stick personally. cd.
  11. Not to be a stickler here, but Nero can be had from the manufacturer's website located here... http://www.nero.com/enu/index.html I am not sure that it's wise to post instructions on how to download an illegit version of anything on a forum such as this. It's not that expensive... cd.
  12. Exactly what charlsen said. Tito was the one who wanted a boxing match added between himself and White, which was actually done back in December. Close your eyes if you don't want this spoiled. Tito didn't show up for the weigh-in the day before, nor did he show up for a fight. This show tomorrow night is just the weeks before the fight was supposed to happen of camera crews following the 2 around. This was not a gimmick by the UFC, but a cranky whine by Tito, who didn't even follow through with it. cd.
  13. Yep yep... here's to your happy birthday from me too.
  14. Bet he fish's the Humber River!
  15. Wow! talk about cheap funeral costs eh... never thought of that before.
  16. Wow! What an amazing fish... it looks just like the one that was posted on here 2 days ago! Twins? http://www.ofncommunity.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=5632
  17. That Sanchez-Kos fight sucked. I am kinda impressed by Koscheck though, he fought a smart fight. GSP-Serra intros going now. cd.
  18. For those non-computer savvy, go to http://free.grisoft.com and download the free AVG antivirus, and the free antispyware product called ewido. These 2, combined with the popup blocker in the Google toolbar, along with IE's popup blocker should keep you relatively safe. If you have high speed internet, you should buy a router for the built in firewall. They are about $30 for one at any of the big box stores. I prefer Dlink or Linksys, although they all work pretty much the same these days. cd.
  19. OK Jen... I am going to BPS next Saturday for some turkey gear... coming?
  20. My best advice is to go to the Ontario Gov't website and lookup the latest Sunshine List... have a go through that, find something interesting and give er... As much as we would all like that perfect job, the majority of people don't get them, or don't get payed enough doing them. Why not take a job where the pay is huge, benefits are plentiful and the opportunity for advancement exists. If I was smart when I was younger, I would have become an Accountant... I shunned the thought when I was in college, but they make good bucks and the future opportunities are incredible. Fortunately I have fallen into a career based on stuff I have always enjoyed doing, but I have to re-educate myself on a daily basis to keep current. Being an IT guy seems like a gravytrain type job, but in order to progress you have to put in your 8 hours and then a few more every night keeping up with the trends. It's a lot of work. With accounting, the principles and methods stay the same for the most part. cd.
  21. Does this mean my 2006 fishing license will still be valid? I mean they put this out every year, it doesn't change that significantly, why can't they do it for this year. Our fees keep going up, yet the money given to our CO's is getting smaller. Where is all of our money going? I suppose it's going to take something durastic to change our politician's viewpoints on where to spend our money. We all moan and groan, but to no avail. I suppose one of these days someone is going to go off the deep end and wake some of these people up. cd.
  22. Why should men have antlers? We all have arms and hands. I do fine scratching my nuts without the need for antlers, thank you very much
  23. hrm... wonder if they have anything descent left... Maybe I will drag Gerritt out for a bit, I can look for deals while he can piss in their AC (billy's idea). cd.
  24. 4, 5 & 6 Red, White & Blue Buy Quaker Oats! Is all you need to know from what I have heard. cd.
