  1. Oh sure... volunteer me haha. I am just heading out to the gun club for polar bear shoot. Once I get back, I will post in the thread Rick is referring to on how I combat the almighty spyware/malware/whateverware. cd.
  2. Wow Rick... I did a search and it thinks you get around... Click Here?
  3. Great stuff! I can't wait to take my daughter out with me in a few years... This summer I think I may take her out to the gun club with me... Don't take this the wrong way, but teach the young one lots of safety... like keeping his fingers off the trigger cd.
  4. I am Corey D, my dad is Brian D...you may very well know him.
  5. Cool stuff... My dad has been working at Stelco for 32 or 33 years now... he works on the Z line. cd.
  6. I design and build networks... Making sure the 1's and 0's get to the right place. Latest thing I have learned is that offshore banks have lots of cash and lots of nice things. cd.
  7. Either own a Rogers dealership, or work for one and hope you get lucky... or golf with Ted. For the record, I have never worked for any Rogers dealership... hrrmm. cd.
  8. hrm... nice plans... but I think I will hang onto my rogers demo line... I like everything for nothing... I pay system access fee, 911 fee, 10 cents a minute for long distance, everything else is free... even unlimited data... I use my blackberry as a modem for my laptop on the road and surf pretty much anywhere I am. We were in sturgeon falls for a week in september, so I hooked the BB up to a laptop, and shared my internet with the other guys who brought laptops too... we all had wireless medium speed internet in the middle of nowhere... pretty sweet stuff. cd.
  9. Whoever owns the adsense account for the ads shown on here can explicitly deny ads from certain advertisers or domain from running on here as well. So to avoid bogus clicks from people on here, which can eventually lead to an account suspension for OFC, someone would be better off adding fishinghurts to the list of ads which should not be shown on here. This conversation recently happened on another smaller fishing messageboard. cd.
  10. I would imagine that it has something to do with the evironment settings in the sound card utility. You will most likely have an icon in the bottom right near the clock that will be a media utility. In there you will generally find an environment section which will allow you to alter the sound coming out. There will be settings like dancehall, echo, cave, etc. You should have an option in there to disable any sound environments, or set it to a general setting which will correct the sound issue. If not you may have to uninstall and reinstall the sound driver and application. If the first suggestion doesn't work, pm me and I will help you get it fixed. cd.
  11. Wouldn't something like "hey guys, I am so and so and I work at such and such. I am just looking for opinions from people here as to how our service, selection and prices are..." I think that would prove more useful than a pretty bad "trying to look like a third party" post. As far as I am concerned your original post looked like someone pathetically trying to hide who they are looking for a plug for the place they work and/or own. Even worse is you just made a very unprofessional post about a business that you may work for. If I saw one of my employees make a post like that about my business, I would fire them. Very poor reflection of the business to a customer facing message forum. Don't take this the wrong way, but you were obviously no being forth about who you are, even though you have posted other posts mentioning you work there. Don't hide anything, and if you are being sincere in an attempt to better yourself or the place you work, people will realize that and give you constructive feedback, which you have gotten. Be honest and up front and you will get the answers you want. Don't ask something like 'how do you like the tall/skinny guy'... ummm not hard to figure you are referring to yourself. Take my comment as positive criticism and learn from it, it will make you better in the future. cd.
  12. Is that a loaded question or what? Shameless plug? Trying to find out who doesn't like your service? Or did you get fired and are looking for a back patting to make you feel better?
  13. Hit the PrtSc (Print Screen) button on your keyboard and it will capture the screen to the clipboard. From there you can plug the image into Word, Wordpad, MSPaint, Photoshop, etc. Holding down Alt and then hitting the PrtSc key will capture just the current window, whereas just the PrtSc will capture your whole screen. What I do is usually Alt-PrtSc then I will paste the image into MSPaint. From there I can capture just the specific part of the screen I need and paste it into a new instance of MSPaint and then save the file as a jpg. BTW, for those who don't know... there are several version fo this game out there. I just know of one that gives higher scores, simular to the previously mentions bloody pinguin link. cd.
  14. Snowball, That is the video I was looking for. fishingbuddys site is down, glad you found it. Nelly, I haven't had that issue yet, you just have to take your time getting down to the right depth. You can stick you fingers into the initial cut to feel for the bones. cd.
  15. The 5 fillet method is much easier if you ask me. There is a video out there but the site seems to be down at this point. If I can find another copy of it floating around somewhere. cd.
  16. Definately good points there Terry, but still, with the price of computers the way they are, why not... this way in the future they will have the upgrade capability as well as the capability to play their favourite fishing game if so desired. I used to be of the opinion of buy what you need right now, but the difference between spending $600 on what you need now as opposed to spending $1000 for something that will all but guarantee that you won't be doing this whole thing again in 2 years when you decide you want to do something more with the computer... cd.
  17. The best recommendation I can make at this point is to ensure that the computer you are buying is Vista compatible. When you purchase the computer, it should also come with the voucher for the free Vista upgrade that Microsoft is giving away. If I were building a basic machine for myself today, here is what I would demand from a store trying to sell me one. Gigabyte motherboard with an nVidia chipset AMD Athlon 64 Dual Core CPU (4000+ or higher) 1 or 2 Gigabytes of RAM (DDR2) nVidia based PCI Express video card 160 GB Sata-2 hard drive LG 16x DVD-RW Dual Layer LG 16x DVD-ROM Antec Case & PSU (or another case with an Enermax PSU) That would be my core system. Make sure you get a descent power supply. Enermax is my preference, I also like Antec or Thermaltake. Remember, the power supply is the only thing between your low voltage (5 & 12) and your 110v wall plug. Something to take into consideration is the weight of the Power Supply, the heavier, the better. If your Power Supply weighs a ton, then its got nice big resistors and capacitors in it, which is better protection for your expensive components inside. I would also then get a nice external hard drive enclosure that has External Sata and USB 2.0, and maybe even Firewire (IEEE1394). From there you can use the external drive to store all your data (pictures, word docs, spreadsheets, etc). Generally speaking, and descent motherboard will come with onboard audio which is good enough for anyone other than audiophiles. It will come with Gigabit ethernet, which is faster than any home user will use in the next 10 years. With that said, the choice of peripherals is totally up to you. Optical mouse at the least, laser is the preference. Keyboard, I like the Microsoft keyboards, but that is totally up to you. Monitor, you can get lots of monitors have a look and pick one. I picked up a cheapie 19" LCD for the wife for $179 like 8 months ago at Future Shop, no complaints. If you are going to get a printer, don't buy an inkjet. You can get a colour laser printer for $200 at the right time and the true cost per print is a third of the cost per print from any inkjet. If you have anymore questions, ask em here and I will answer to the best of my knowledge. cd.
  18. Value my advice? haha who are you joking hehe. Partitioning drives is bad. bad bad bad. Here's the pros and cons... Pros: Seperation of system files from data files. Good if you have to reinstall Windows. Cons: - Overhead on the system. Your OS has to handle 2 file tables, also has to verify each partition each time a disk operation occurs (like verifying drives when you open your My Computer icon) - Loss of drive space. Not a biggie, but your file table takes a percentage of the overall drive space. - You will end up running out of space on the first partition. Causing you to install programs on the second partition, totally defeating the purpose of multiple partitions. - Confusion to the user. Sometimes, if you aren't very knowledgable with the basic working of hardware and operatingg systems. My honest opinion is throw a 100+ gig hard drive in for system and applications. Get an external drive that will connect via e-sata for keeping data on. External drive will run at same speeds as internal drives, but if you ever need service on your machine, you guarantee the safety of your data because you keep the drive at home. You can get a *very* good DVD burner, 16x dual layer +/- for $40. It's pretty much the standard these days. If you need help buying a machine and putting it together, we can goto my favourite shop in Niagara (cough summit direct cough) and pickup some parts, cruise back to my place and talk fishing for 3 hours while we put it together and install the software and then you are set to go. I like to help people with simular interests to myself. Builds a better community. cd.
  19. He will fight in the UFC again, he signed a 3 fight deal. Maybe he needs to get out and catch a big muskie... drag it into the boat and practice some wrestling... at worst he may catch a big fish...
  20. Someone post the results... I am not able to watch it tonight and am dying to know how he does... grew up in east end, main & kenilworth baby! cd.
  21. OK... the 533 Mhz is the front side bus speed. Basically put, it's the speed of the highway that connects all the internals of the machine. It's a little on the slower side, 800 is about the least you should buy with the technology that's available today. If you want a simple solution, buy a Dell. Their configurations are well tested and generally bug free. You are most likely to get the best deal there. If you want something more taylored to your needs, go to a descent computer shop and have them put something together. I would avoid MDG at all costs, their advertising model is crooked. Best thing I can recommend when you get the machine is remve all the antivirus/antispyware packages and go to www.grisoft.com and download AVG antivirus and the antispyware program they have. Download the google toolbar and use the internet explorer popup blocker. With those 4 things, you should remain virus free, spyware free and virtually without popups and the software is all freeware. No monthly/yearly costs and very good protection. Corey ps. I have been doing this computer thing for nearly 20 years and kinda know what I am talking about.
  22. It was kind of a joke... the "Signs, Signs" thread shows the results of some online sign generators that are on the internet... You type in some text and it makes a realistic looking picture of a sign with your text... I was making a little crack about buying some some more highway for the site, all tongue in cheek. cd.
  23. Stop advertising on highways and church signs and pay for more bandwidth! Did everyone notice the white text above the OFC message on the church sign? Kinda cute... I have used warningsigngenerator to make some choice signs that get hung outside the bathroom... cd.
  24. I was out today for a few hours... started the trip at Fishmaster's for minnows and worms (damn lively minnows at that). First stop was Welland, at the south niagara(?) rowing club... buncha sunfish, buncha perch, all swimming freely right now. Second stop Port Colborne, docks were all locked up tight, fished from the rocks, few perch, all still swimming. Last stop was in Dunnville at the secret pond... a few teeny weenie crappie's... as usual, back in the drink they went. It was definately cold, more windy than anything, but not windy enough to warrant suiting up with the survival suit... cd.
