  1. I believe this is a Sucker. Please correct me if I'm wrong. it was swimming pretty close to shore when I took the photo last month.
  2. Ive never been sucker fishing. Just curious, are they similar to carp? And are they easier to catch duing certain times of the year? Perhaps this time of the year since you were out trying to find them.
  3. I have been thinking of the exchange rate and that will probably be the deciding factor on whether we actually go. the affordable hotels are pretty far from the city. I can use the recommendations for down the line if this trip doesn't happen this winter. Thanks
  4. Looking for ideas on attractions (non food related) in and around NYC. Preferably indoor attractions like museums. I have been looking at tripadvisor and there is tons there, but looking for first hand experience. Going with my wife and our 2 girls ages 5 and 10, so looking for family friendly suggestions. Will be there 2-3 days. Also looking for suggestions on shore fishing along the route from Niagara falls to New York. of course I will check into permits etc. Thanks
  5. welcome to my world lol! On a positive note I did catch my first largie last week from the most unexpected lake. it was a good 3 lbs and all it took was 10 mins of fishing to land that one and a small dinky bass. Caught on jig head and half senko.
  6. Thanks for the tip. I will try that.
  7. Sure is. I haven't seen any place like port D. the current is one of a kind. Bronte and port credit is a little more fisherman friendly and water is much clearer.
  8. Thanks. I will keep that in mind for next time I head out to Port D.
  9. So tried port dalhousie yesterday and no luck with minnows. its a tough place to fish for sure and the water clarity was not the greatest. Saw many fish surfacing, light brown color so I'm guessing they were brown although a few seemed to look like bass by the way they were swimming along the wall but it was hard to tell at night.
  10. Sure thing! Im still learning
  11. lol I knew that. Wasn't sure if steelhead stop feeding like salmon since I read somewhere that they stop eating when they are migrating up river.
  12. Heading to port dalhousie tonight to try for some Browns. Keeping Martindale pond as a backup plan, however I have never been to martindale so looking for a good spot to sit along the water and fish. I checked google earth and it seems the best place is henley island but I am not sure that place is accessible since the yacht club is there. Thanks
  13. lol. I try to stay away from the crowds but I will keep that in mind if I catch anyone staring.
  14. Thanks! I will give it a try!
  15. Wondering if live bait like minnows are useful for catching steelhead or do they stop feeding when they come to the river mouth and into rivers? if live bait is worth trying, is there a certain type and size ? Thanks
  16. Thanks for the recommendation. Tom sounds like the kind of handyman I am looking for. I will give him a call.
  17. Please PM me if you know someone that will do good work, is reputable, reliable, and of course will not cost an arm and a leg lol. Looking to replace kitchen sink and piping under, as well as reinforce wooden stair railing. Thanks
  18. In a dumb move to create a glow lure that didnt need to be flashed every 5 casts, I taped a glow stick (the kind that you crack the case and stays lit for most of the day) to my husky jerk crankbait and cast it out. Not realizing that it would float because of the liquid filled glow tube, it defeated the purpose of diving deep. It ended up becoming a glow top water lure that I was able to cast out a good 75 feet because of the new found weight of the glow tube! I got a carp to follow it lol. should be great for nightime pike and bass in the future in the weedy areas.
  19. Nice! Looks fresh! Just curious, how far was this from the river mouth? Thinking of trying some creeks in the west end of gta but not sure if they come that far up.
  20. just thought I'd share. http://www.syracuse.com/outdoors/index.ssf/2015/10/charter_boat_captains_whats_going_on_with_lake_ontarios_salmon_fishery.html#incart_river_home
  21. Glad everyone is fine. To add to the rest of the advice is to check the lug nuts/bolts after getting the car back from the mechanics. A lot of time they will forget to torque them down. I always redo mine when I bring the car back from the shop with a torque wrench. Sometimes shops wont tighten them enough, and sometime they will over tighten them! Could be a honest mistake, but its not them that will suffer when the wheels fall off. Back in the days, my dad got his brakes done at a well known shop in Montreal. He drove to toronto the same day and upon reaching, he told me he kept hearing a weird sound. I check the wheels and I was literally able to spin the lug nuts with my fingers. Scary!
  22. Very cozy looking family room!
  23. How about the river mouth? I have heard of the zoo up the river. We plan to go thursday night. Still a zoo on a weeknight?
