  1. I had a Ducane for the last 20 years or so and we just threw it out because it was so rusted out it was barely standing up. Weber bought out Ducane years ago and with that went my "Life Time Warranty"...Weber is more then happy to sell you over priced parts though. BTW I paid over $1000.00 for that grill because of it's "Life Time Warranty"..... This time we went with a KitchenAid gas grill that I quickly transformed to accept Natural Gas instead of propane. Kitchen Aid gives you the orifice need to change out for the side burner and then you just remove the propane orifices because the Natural Gas orifices are already installed behind the propane orifices....nice way to handle this... BTW I paid just over $400 for this 3 burner plus one side burner grill and it gets HOT ! ! !
  2. Cabela's and you can add Polar Kraft to the boat list using the 238 posts.
  3. If he lost the "CARD" what are the chances he has the original receipt......I say zero to nothing.
  4. A Palomar knot is a clinch type knot where a Rapala knot is a loop knot that permits the lure to swing freely even though it's tied to the line. A Rapala knot has a loop just like a snap but as I mentioned before it's not one of the strongest knots out there. I do like to use it when fishing very light jigs for early season crappie fishing.
  5. Rapala knot is one of the weaker knots out there.....but you're right, no need for a split ring if you use a cross lock snap
  6. I use the Berkley Cross Lock Snaps as shown below.....I have them with and without swivels.....no swivel is required when fishing crank baits or other baits that do not spin. Size #1 for almost everything but salmon fishing is more then enough. For salmon I use size #3 The Berkley Cross Lock Snaps are the strongest available..........see here... http://www.cabelas.com/product/Berkley-Cross-Lok-Snaps/738362.uts?productVariantId=1233251&srccode=cii_17588969&cpncode=44-72921650-2&WT.tsrc=CSE&WT.mc_id=GoogleProductAds&WT.z_mc_id1=10004352&rid=20
  7. Mille Lacs in Minnesota going through a similar challenge on it's walleye population..... http://www.mprnews.org/story/2015/07/31/no-walleye-netting
  8. I never heard of a truck that has a 1500 lb towing capacity......Is it for midgets because I think a Mini Cooper could tow a 14 tinny around.
  9. It's time to make arrest and put people in jail.... It's also time that ALL the business surrounding the lake get together and get a campaign together with multiple adds in every local paper around the lake NOT to purchase ANY walleyes from anyone from now on. These adds should run from a few weeks just before ice out until at least December to keep reminding people if you buy walleyes anywhere you have contributed to the problem.
  10. A simple pressure test of the lower unit will reveal any leaks..
  11. I'm sure you meant to KEEP PEOPLE FROM BUYING cheap foreign pacific junk (see China crappola) at big box stores....... Or to keep people from buying illegal drugs that the government has never even slowed down......if they can't do that, then well..........
  12. The US also has the Pittman-Robertson Act....... https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pittman%E2%80%93Robertson_Federal_Aid_in_Wildlife_Restoration_Act
  13. THE VERY BEST MILEAGE has always been a Chevy pickup truck because most time they sat at the dealership waiting in line for it's turn to be repaired, thus never using any fuel.......
  14. YEP.......a BLOWN Johnson rod......LOL
  15. Time to go outboard motor shopping......maybe this time try a E-Tech.......you will be surprised how quite they run and better power, gas mileage and no smoke whatsoever. Good Luck with the old one and maybe I'm wrong and it will be something that's not expensive and a quick fix.
  16. Nice job on that outing......great report and pics. THANKS
  17. Yes Sir, we have used them in Oneida Lake in central NY, Lake Erie, the Kawartha's including Pigeon, Sturgeon, Clear, Stoney and a couple others......also taken many walleyes in the French River, Nippissing, Big Gull Lake near Kaladar, Big Caribou Lake, Kinzua Reservoir, plus a few Lakes in Minnesota. If the fishing is a bit tough we tip the jig with about 1" of the tip of a nightcrawler and bury it in the hairs for a little scent. The reason I think it's the best way to catch a fish is because once you set the hook it's just you and the fish with nothing to drag down the fish or impede it from fighting. They also out fish plastics in the weeds because you can rip them without the damn tail always coming off in the weeds.
  18. Boat over to Erie Basin Marina in Buffalo, it's right on the edge of the canal at the head of the Niagara River. From there stop at the gas dock just as you enter the Harbor right by the Light House. They have a phone there to report into the US and from their you can motor down the canal if you wish and lock down for free or just motor down the Niagara River to Tonawanda to your uncles dock.
  19. WHY..........all the Great Lakes are chartered not to mention hundreds of thousand of lake on both sides of the boarder.
  20. THIS IS ALL Bull..............for YEARS we have fished both side of the boarder.....do you think fisherman on either side is a threat to national security on either side of the boarder or a fund that was never tapped until now ! ! !
  21. NOTHING beats jigging for walleyes.......nothing.....we like to use all black buck tail jigs........mostly 1/8 oz but sometimes 1/4 oz.......we have tied hundreds if not thousands over many many winters.....going out during deer season to deer processing places and begging or buying those precious buck tails.....then dying them BLACK...we couldn't get enough of them back in the day........now we have more then we will ever use but our children will thank us.....hopefully.....LOL L
  22. Just that you pointed out that those who are effected by the down fall of the lake can move and I just pointed out that those who are contributing to it's down fall can move also. You have pointed a LOT of good points today......keep them coming. My solution is to do away with all commercial fishing if it's nets or anyway else. But let's do it like they did for Lake Erie in NYS. They imposed a $3 stamp that anyone who fished the lake must purchase for the next 3 years to buy out ALL LICENSED COMMERCIAL FISHERMEN (this would be need to tweet for all aboriginals who NOW fish the lake commercial purposes in a LEGAL form). The money that those Indians would receive could start them into another business like purchasing a boat for chartering anglers or develop land for cottages to run or whatever. This would move them into the 21 century without losing their history or livelihood. BTW after 2 years NYS did away with the stamp because they had more then enough funds to buy out the commercial fishermen and the lake has rebounded into the BEST Walleye fishery in the WORLD. No reason the Big Nip can't rebound too with the right management and only sport fishing. edited to say I have NO IDEA why some of the above is outlined in white...
