  1. I'm going to be taking my peddle boat out on a few lakes up near Haliburton and will want to use an anchor to hold on a spot once I find some fish. I'm around the 200 pound mark and will be fishing in lakes that don't have a ton of current (from what I can remember at least...) but can get a little unruly if I manage to be on the wind blown shore when a stuff breeze comes up. I have an anchor that I purchased with my kayak but I think it's either 1.5 or 3 pounds. Will that keep me fairly planned or should I look to get something heavier? Does water depth play a part? Some of the spots could end up being fairly deep. Is there anything else I need to be taking into account? Thanks in advance!
  2. We have a Danby unit as well and it cooled a about 700 square feet really well. The reason it doesn't have a condensate bucket to drain is because it drains the condensate back over the internal cooling fins and it gets used up that way. It also only has a single air exhaust hose. I believe if used I'm the dehumidifier mode you would have to hook up the drainage hose. I much preferred it to a window unit, especially since you could open the window whenever you wanted to.
  3. Did you back your phone up with a Google account? If so, you should be able to log onto your Google account online and check things there. Bill, ya beat me to it.
  4. Does anyone know if it's legal to fish a double fluke rig...? I looked in the Ontario fishing regs, specifically in the "It's illegal to..." section and didn't see anything. Can anyone point me in the right direction...? Thanks!
  5. That was a great read, the pictures were great too, thanks!!!
  6. LOL! Hopefully it won't come to that. I went down the the mouth of the Rouge at the end of Lawrence and didn't catch a thing yesterday afternoon. Perfect! I didn't get around to testing everything so I'll be going back there at some point soon. Thanks for all the suggestions guys, I really appreciate it!
  7. Backpack or a smaller duffel bag worked for me before I bought the big BPS tackle bag to store my stuff. I also picked up an Abu Garcia weather proof bag with 4 containers from CTC last fall for $20 so that's my bank beating transport unless I know I'll only need a small amount of tackle, in which case I'll just put that in a backpack.
  8. That's a sad way to start the day right there... While living in Germany, I stopped in at a concert of his in a knee-jerk decision. I can't remember what year that was, probably 2010 I think. Anyways, he wasn't able to start for very much of the show and he certainly didn't have the pipes I heard when I listened to his recordings BUT, he still had a massive presence on stage and did still very much sound like the blues. He is the first of my music idols that I ever got to see perform live. I'm so thankful that I took the opportunity to see him. He will be sorely missed...
  9. Anyone in Scarborough should do to the Dollarama at Scarborough Town Centre, there must be 100 on the shelf and the one I got is made by Plano.
  10. True, but only because I don't have time to get out yet. If that weren't the case, I'd be reporting back on my new equipment by now :-D
  11. That sounds like a great spot, and just up the road a bit too. Thanks!
  12. What about up at the Rouge River Dam in Markham? It looks like there are a lot of easy-to-fish-from spots along there. For those spots at Bluffers and the Port Union pier, should I be considering putting a heavy leader on in case a pike decides what I have tied on looks tasty...? If so, what should use for a leader? The heaviest I have is 15# Berkley fluorocarbon. Of course, if I accidentally catch a pike that'll mean a host of other issues since I don't have a net or a Boga grip, let alone any experience dealing with a tooth bugger like that...
  13. That's a great idea Art, maybe even some vinyl tubing would work. Ohio, I thought of that too, but in a fit of boredom last week I has already tied lures onto all of the equipment I want to test :-\ Thanks again everyone!
  14. Manitou, for the first time in my life, I hope you're wrong Pains me to think it, let alone say it... Thanks for the suggestions guys, sounds like a few options close to home. Ohio: I was thinking about that as I typed, I'm looking to test my new reels and rods though so I wouldn't have been super concerned about lure action and the rest of that business.
  15. Hi all, I realize this is probably a very unusual request... I'm looking for a place to test out a bunch of my new gear which was acquired in the great tackle monkey attack of late 2014/early 2015. The vast majority of my tackle is bass-focused and with the season opening up on over a month from now, I'd rather not take a chance on catching bass when I 1) don't want to, 2) they're OOS. So, is there anywhere within say a half hour drive of eastern Scarborough that definitely doesn't have any fish in it...? I was messing around on Google maps and saw a pond behind the Public Works yard at Morningside and the 401, is that private property or public, and is fishing allowed there? In case I can't find somewhere to wet a line without hooking a fish, is there a good way to cast my lures without fear of hooking a fish? I know I can just remove the trebles from those lures, but what about my single hook baits like jigs and spinnerbaits...? Is there a reliable way to cap the hooks? Thanks in advance!
  16. atdhe.mx has been great for me, though quality can vary and the audio/video can be a little out of sync. It seems to slow my computer the least and has the fewest pop ups.
  17. Super 8 Slick would be better suited to spinning reels, however, I will be using some 20# or 30# with a fluoro leader on a Daiwa PX68L for jerkbaits this year.
  18. I'm a fan of Super 8 Slick on my spinning reels, as well as Sufix 832. I'm going to be trying S8S on a couple of baitcasters this season too.
  19. I hadn't thought of the advantages of running it into the the bottom to trigger bites from shore. I fish from shore most of the time so that might be something to keep in my back pocket. Maybe I'll keep a few to do just that. Here's a picture of what I have accumulated, any opinions on what I should hold on to? They're all either new or lightly used, worst case a few might need new hooks.
  20. The thing that has me debating is that they're not a coherent set of deep crankbaits, they're a hodgepodge of extra lures that came with other lots of lures that I have purchased since the weather started it's downward spiral last Fall. Maybe I'll take a few pictures of everything tomorrow so you can see what I have on hand. It's not a ton of stuff, I just dislike having things sitting around not being used. And I don't have the extra storage space to hang on to them until I might use them.
  21. I have somehow accumulated a bunch of deeper running crankbaits over the winter and I'm at a cross-roads with what to do with them. I have never used these types of lures, mostly because I haven't ever, nor do I yet, own a boat. It's not gonna happen anytime soon but I have a couple of friends with boats, one of them being up near French River. I didn't pay retail for a single one of these lures and 75% of them were used when I purchased them. Would I be foolish for off loading them? I kind of think I have enough on my plate with learning drop shot, jerkbaits and swim jigs this year and feel like I'd be further complicating my fishing. That being said, would it be equally foolish to off load these lures considering I didn't pay anywhere near what it would cost to replace them with new ones should I decide to do some deep cranking in the future...? I'm open to suggestions here folks, thanks in advance!
