  1. The best kind of crawl space is one you don't need to crawl around in! Nice work man, I'm thoroughly impressed with how much you've done on your own in such a short period of time. Are you going to be working on the interior through the winter?
  2. Looks like things are posed t warm back up tomorrow so that should confuse the fish and us just enough to make things entertaining...
  3. manitou, I'm always super impressed with dogs with jobs. The faith that you have in them doing their job is just as impressive. I can only imagine how gnarly it must be when they're chowing down on a deer! Yikes!
  4. That's the only place on the lake that rents boats now, and the 16 footer with a depth finder is what we're renting. I'm looking forward to finally getting on the water!
  5. Ok guys, rather than book a guide, how about renting a boat for a day...? Looking for bass lakes within about a 2 hour drive of Scarborough that also have marinas on them which rent boats. A 9.9 tinny isn't what I'm looking for though, something with decent seats (pontoon or a bass/fishing boat) is a must. A trolling motor would be a huge bonus and a fish finder would have me that much extra excited, though neither of those things are necessities. Fire your suggestions my way, thanks!!!
  6. Thanks for the guide recommendations guys, I appreciate it! Lape, that is a big help, thank you!
  7. While I'd love to buy a boat and get on the water yesterday, it's just not in the cards... Yet. Sooooooooooo, are there any charters that you would recommend, specifically to go out and target bass...? Or does anyone out there need someone to split gas money with? I'd love to fish a tournament for fun! A little back story: both my wife and I play wheelchair basketball for the Canadian Paralympic team. We completed in the Parapan Am Games this past August and with all the training leading up to that, the most fishing we managed was getting up to Burd's twice. We both enjoy fishing but I'm the truly afflicted one. I really NEED to fish. We start back to training in a couple of weeks and would really like to get out on the water, by hook or by crook. If you have any suggestions, feel free to either respond here or send me a PM. Thanks in advance! Adam and Jamey
  8. Things will turn around for you and your wife, you just gotta keep at it! Have faith in yourself and your decisions and keep moving forwards.
  9. Thanks Bow, that actually looks like a pretty good option! Looking at the park on google earth, there are 6 docks near a circular road, is that a boat launch ramp? Jeremy, I had thought about that as well. it's certainly an option but I know the fishing is going to be more like casting...
  10. Hey guys, my wife and her friend would like to do some kayaking this weekend and I was thinking Rice lake might be a good option. We only have 2 kayaks so I'd be fishing from shore while they're out on the water. Would Rice be a good option right now, given that it's going to be a very nice weekend with the potential for a lot of boat traffic...? Is there somewhere else we should go instead? There's one catch: both my wife and her friend are athletic paraplegics. Neither of them can walk so a fairly flat launching point makes life the easiest. Catchable fish from shore would be a bonus. We live in Scarborough so anything within an hour or so is good, preferably east or north rather than having to drive west through the city. Thanks in advance!!!
  11. This would definitely be a good option if it's a 2 piece rod.
  12. You could always look in the classified and on Kijiji for a used rod that matches your old one.
  13. That's the lake my parents cottage is on, I know your struggles lol...
  14. I ended up ordering the Daiwa tool from eBay. I already had something coming from that seller so I just got them to piggy back the tool onto the order.
  15. For everyone that does their own reel maintenance, or maintains other people's reels: what do you use to remove the spool pin without marring the spool shaft? After seeing the spool shafts on a couple of the used reels I picked up, I'll need to get the spool pin out and clean up the shafts a bit. I saw a picture of the Daiwa tool which looks pretty solid, anyone used it? Is eBay the only place to find one of these? I know I can get the Hedgehog tool locally but something about the way the Daiwa tool looks to be built really appeals to me. Any other suggestions? They don't need to be fishing-specific tools either, as long as they work well and don't mar the shaft or ruin the pin. Thanks!
  16. I didn't think to ask about somewhere to tie it up. Just shows that I have never owned a boat. Best of luck fishing, enjoy!
  17. I just spoke with my cousin. He thinks there is concrete buy the first part might be gravel. I'd be willing to bet that if you called the Haliburton Forest and Wildlife Reserve, they'd be able to tell you exactly how that launch looks.
  18. That looks great! And lots of nice, solid looking rocks to put anchors into for a dock. I think he said the two windows on the left side will be 5' x 8', those little ones are just temporary.
  19. I'm not sure about the quality of the launch, I can see if my cousin could check on it, he lives on little Redstone.
  20. I think your closest launch to Piccadilly Bay will be the one off of County Road 7/Kennisis Lake Road. You can get to Pelaw through a fairly narrow channel but it's smart to check with the locals about the water depth. Redstone and Pelaw are tires into the Trent Severn system so the water level starts to drop sometime late summer. As for the fishing, I had the most success with darker coloured flukes and wacky rigged senkos. While I didn't fish for any lake trout, it's my understanding they are out there in the big lake. You can also do some bass fishing on little Redstone, there's a big island in the middle and the west side of that island seems to attract a few boats each evening. Have fun!
  21. Hey guys, where can I get one of these I'm the GTA...? SAIL only carries their MH's. Thanks! Adam
  22. Thanks for the quick replies guys! I like the idea about the chain on the anchor, I'll be trying that for sure. I won't be wandering way out into any of the lakes but I'll have at least 50 feet of rope with me, likely 75 just to be on the safe side. In case the light anchor I have doesn't do the job, I have cement and a 5 gallon bucket at my disposal. Thanks!
