  1. Thanks guys....that was my worry having gunwales that are not totally flat....the downriggers will definately be mounted on the back casting deck....I'll try to see if I have enough room for the towers!!
  2. I've been thinking about how to get the new boat set up for rod holders and am having a difficult time trying to decide how/what to do.. I've looked at many options such as the traxtech setup http://www.traxstech.com or this one http://www.trojantackle.ca/index.htm Does anyone have any suggestions or tips before I start DRILLING holes on my boat????.... I took a couple of pictures of the where the rod holders or trax system would need to go... Thanks, Steve
  3. Thanks for the replies so far guys....what's the difference between the Merc 9.9 Bigfoot and the Pro Kicker?? Wayne, Is your kicker attached to your main outboard or do you have an extended handle and steer it seperately?
  4. I'm now looking at the $$$$$$$$ task of rigging the new ride and have come across a deal for a new 2008 Tohatsu 8HP 4-stroke long shaft kicker...half the price of the Merc 9.9 Pro Kicker... My question is whether the 8HP is big enough to troll my 20' Tracker Tundra on a windy day?? I'm estimating that the total weight of the boat, 150HP Merc, and 40 gallons of gas is ~ 2500lbs... Thanks, Steve
  5. That's great news Cliff!!....kudos to the people that called the OPP!!
  6. If you're not using it for drinking water than go for it.....looks like ya struck gold and the wife will be happy now that she has water .....a sand point is easy enough to do especially if you can get water at 14'....do some some research and do it yourself to save lots of $$$$$$$
  7. I agree 100%.....I'd be concerned with where that shallower water is coming from and has it had a chance to be filtered through the sand/soil properly or is it just "spring run-off" that has saturated the ground right now...I certainly wouldn't drink it before boiling the crap out of it..
  8. There are loads of good deals out there!!....use the Canadain dollar to your advantage and buy in the U.S......there's no comparison with the price of used boats down in the states compared to the overpriced boats up here in Canada... I just bought one last week close to New York City and although it consumed a lot of my time perparing for the purchase, it was WELL WORTH IT!!!... Do your homework, use your head, make lots of calls, and DO NOT SEND MONEY!......why would anyone want to send money to someone for a boat that they have never looked at ....when you do find one ask to see the Certificate of Title, Lien Release, Boat Registration, Trailer Registration and then ask to see his driver's license to make sure all the info matches...also tell the owner that you want him to take the boat out on the water for a demo with you, and ask if there is a nearby Marina, that he can call to make an appointment to have the engine inspected that you will pay for....if the seller wants to sell the boat bad enough, he'll have no issues doing the above for you!!
  9. Rizzo, A buddy bought a 300 a few months ago on-line from the states for a little over $200....I'll try to get more info for you..
  10. The topic is about saving money by LeBarons having a TAX-FREE sale and not about customer service....
  11. cityfisher, you can use the Saltwater for both salt and fresh water....there's a water hose connector just under the engine cowling so that you can connect a garden hose and flush the salt water out through the motor...not sure what the other differences are....possibly a few stainless internal parts..I haven't had a chance to start reading the owner's manual... Thanks Grant!!....you're on Bud!!.....zoom zoom zoom Thanks....no reports real soon as I still have to rig it up....I'll make another post later to pick everyone's brains as far as what's the best way to rig up rod holders...

  14. That was the main incentive Fil on top of getting around to "hot" spots quicker as well as venturing to new bodies of waters now .... I think Landry is pretty acurate...just be patient and make sure you are GOOD AND READY to contact the seller and jump into you vehicle within hours to go get it!!!.....the old saying..."you snooze ya lose" Here are few links: http://newyork.craigslist.org/ http://www.iboats.com/used_boats/ http://www.boatsville.com/browse_used_boats.cfm
  15. I'm not a "sloppy back bay" kinda guy so I won't be able to help ya out... Thanks Lew!!!!....man I'm just itching to get out....I told the wife I may sleep in it tonight ...she quickly told me otherwise after me being away for 2 days
  16. Definately private deal!!....customs charges are the GST/PST of the boat/motor and the trailer..
  17. Just got back from my 1500km journey down to the States and brought my "new" ride home!! I want to say thanks to all the guys that sent me replies to my earlier post regarding "buying a boat in the US".... http://www.ofncommunity.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=42536 I couldn't believe how easy it was was to get all the paperwork done at the border and get on my way....it took 14 minutes!!! I'll definately will miss the pontoon boat and the 14' Smokercraft but only for a minute ....I'm really looking forward now to start planning a few Lake O trips, Quinte trips and Muskie Hunts...
  18. The pontoon is good for the river Mike but a pain in the to trailer to other lakes... I'm looking at a 20' Tracker Tundra ......we'll see
  19. IS there a way to check and ensure that there are no liens against a boat your are buying on a private/non-dealer sale??..... Would I be better off to risk trailering the boat back to Ottawa without a plate or should I bring my plate from my boat trailer and use that??
  20. Nice looking fish!....the water looks gorgeous!
