  1. After getting skunked on the weekend I thought I would try my luck again. Me and two other friends headed out of Guelph at 5:30am. On the water by 8:30am. The conditions were perfect. I boated two fish and missed another two. My bud landed one and lost another monster. All fish were caught before 12:00pm. It seemed as if when the sun came out the musky shut down. This is my buddy's 1st. He was really happy. The fish he lost started jumping like crazy and spit the lure. He was ticked. I was laughing. lol. Enjoy.
  2. Keep at er Bill. You'll get one in the boat soon. Did you try burning any spinnerbaits or bucktails? Good luck on your next adventure. Any time spent with your dad fishing is priceless. My father lives so far away from me. I miss fishing with him so much. Enjoy the time you have with him. Thats worth more than any fish.
  3. Ive never been to a OFC g2g. If there is another this year I would go. If it falls on a weekend that I work I guess Ill be callin in. Fishing emergency. HeHe.
  4. Seaguar premier fluoro leader material. Try it. You wont be dissappointed.
  5. Beautiful pictures. I bet you didn't wanna come back. Looks like your brother enjoys his life there. Must have been a great trip.
  6. Good job man. Now you can fish your snake with even more confidence. Cheers.
  7. I have to work the whole god forsaken weekend. If I was off I'd be gone.
  8. Heres one from this year on a musky stalker.
  9. Use braid and tie on a fluoro leader. I gave up trying to use fluoro as a main line. Braid rules. No memory.
  10. Where do you get your double cow girls? They are expensive. I keep fishing the bull dawg but havent caught anything with it yet. Ill keep tryin my best. Cheers
  11. Ive caught some nice bass there pitching in the weeds. I thought it was a great place. You need to put your time in thats all. There are some big largies there. You just need to find them. Cheers. Thanks for all the info guys.
  12. You can place an order online. There are a couple of locations. Check out the website. www.lebaron.ca
  13. I use between 50 and 80 lb power pro. My leaders range from 50lb to 130lb seaguar fluorocarbon. I tie some of them. You can buy them pretied. Its harder to tie the heavier stuff. Some guys use crimps on the bigger fluoro. Titanium leaders are great too, although expensive. A decent reel is a good investment as well. I like round baitcasters for tossing big baits. Depending on what model, they give you more power and lower gear ratios than flat bass style baitcasters. This means you can tango with a bigger fish better and toss bigger baits. There are some great reels out there. Just depends on how much you wanna spend. Im currently using the japanese shimano calcutta conquest on 2 of my musky rods and they can handle anything. Worth the money I think. But thats just me.
  14. Just wondering if any of you know about the fishing at Valen's conservation area on hwy 97. People keep telling me that there is no fishing this yr. I havent called them. Just curious.
  15. I like using M&G spinnerbaits, suicks, believers, jakes, grandmas and oversized bucktails. Joe bucher makes some good depthraiders, shallowraiders, topraiders, bucktails and slopmaster spinnerbaits as well. I've recently ordered some salmo baits from ebay. Im hoping these will work well. Anyone use them? The fatso looks good. Im hoping anyway. This is an addiction. Once you start you won't stop. I buy most of my stuff at LeBaron. YOu can get a members card for 25 or 30 bucks i think and you get an additional 10% off. Their stuff is the cheapest I can find anywhere. Other than ebay. They have a good selection as well. Hope this helps. Have fun collecting.
  16. Nice job lew. You are a god.
  17. Nice ski. Good on you for not giving up. That what it takes. Must have been a great feeling getting that one for the first of the season. Congratulations. Were you casting or trolling?
  18. On mono or fluoro maybe, but not on braid.
  19. Mowhawk bay park rents boats. Its just east of Deseronto. They have a website as well. www.mowhawkbaypark.com The owners are really nice. Fosters fishing centre is another. Not sure of the address. I slept all the way. Cheers
  20. Its a great knot. I use it alot. If your find it hard, practice. You'll get the hang of it. One thing I like to do is run the line through the eye twice. They say it makes for a stronger knot. I assume it does. Its also great for attaching fluoro leaders to braid. Then you can use any length leader and reel it through you line guides. Get some cheap line and practice. Cheers.
