  1. been a few of us (5-6 regulars and more on some days ) going at it at lunch time all winter from the foot of spadina towards ontario place. I work just up the street and spend my lunch hour casting to any open water I find . Its a hit and miss thing but you manage a fish or two every few days ( had a few browns two weeks ago but mostly snot rockets , hopefully the big guys will show up soon) keeps me going (better than the walk up the street to hootters) hope to see you guys down there .

  3. "I'd say you have too much if you cant carry it all at once. Guess I have too much . Stopped counting my rapalas when I got to 1000 , and I dont really like rappalas so you can guess how much stuff I have . I just go down to the fish room and fill up a box of stuff to use that day when I go fishing , and I have a few location boxes that I take i.e. A sucgog box a rice lake box etc. etc. Been buying lures for 30 years or so it all ands up ??
  4. when i first saw the pic yesterday I thought the same thing
  5. The goverment is paying this guy (good amounts of money) so he can find all the good areas to take his poacher buddies to poach animals from his helocopter , NOW I HAVE SEEN EVERYTHING !!!!!!!!!! and no one there seams to think its WRONG ?????
  6. Great designs blend both , but I will take ugly if it works , dont care how good it looks if it dont work , it has to go
  7. "WD40 or beer whiz? Which would you rather drink a teaspoon of?" AHHHHH neither !!!! Cant think up a reason I would ever have this as a choice ?? But are we talking 18 year old virgin's beer whiz or ?????? nahh I'm sticking to my first choice NEITHER . Dawg ya never fail to crack me up , now get out there and get us some more of your great soft water fishing pics and southern sunshine , as looking out my window at all this snow is getting me down .
  8. Wellcome aboard you have come to a great place . Pink TuTU's are usaually a give away an ofner is around
  9. Guy Lafleur, smoked two packs a day(at least a half a pack during games ) , was he an athelete, how many base ball players have admitted to useing cocaine during games are they ,what about punters in the nfl ????? is curling a "sport" ???? who cares its fun aint it .
  10. Kirk I never said I call the kids panhandlers (tho I agree that what this amounts to )I am allways polite when I turn down their requests . When my children got older I did incourge them to earn their own money , BY WORKING FOR IT . I dont think this selling of things AS WORK and would NEVER ALLOW my child to do it . Why do you think its so easy for some kids today to just park them selves on the sidewalk and beg . Matbe Its because I work at KING and JOHN streets and have to step over people to get into the building to go to work that makes me so jaded . but its like we have become a society of BEGGERS everyone has his hand out for this for that me me me give me some give me some , buy my newspaper its for a good cause buy my choclate , give give give. HOw is it that i raised four children and lived these 57 years WITHOUT ASKING ANYONE TO buy give whatever !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
  11. Great song , we used to jam this all the time
  12. Joey I feel the same , I hear the words ,"SINGLE PARENT FAMILYS" , (in the case of the death of one parent yes this term is correct BUT) IT takes TWO 2 , people to make a child . ALL CHILDREN HAVE(had) 2 PARENTS .These people that have children they cant afford , dont have the time for , AHHHHHH!!!!!, makes me think Clamp-it might have the right idea , some one should be punished NOT the children they bring into the world .It would be a cold cold day in hell before I ever bought a beer ,had a smoke etc., before anything my children needed was gotten .
  13. Thanks Cookslav , Terry , as My typeing is not very fast . I thought I was the only one paying for my children anymore . My children MY RESPONSEABLITY , they do and go where we can afford and Im sorry Matt but they dont hang around malls , and its not because someone bought a cholate bar . Its because I make sure they have an interesting life and NO ONE HAS TO DONATE crap so I can do this . SORRY but thats the way I see it ..
  14. When I read the Title I thought we would see Pictures of NATE , Awesome pics, makes it look so effortless swoop down grab and away ...
  15. Why did Michigan get all the toxic waste dumps and New York all the lawyers???? Michigan got first pick ...
  16. The bait restrictions dont really affect me as I never use live bait , not because of any reason other than I like to cast , trolling with the rod in a holder or sitting there waiting for my float to go down is not for me even ice fishing you will find me jigging etc. tried tip ups and most days I get out fished by the minnow guys but Im fishing not catching so I dont mind. I understand others like these meathods and I believe in each to his own and we all know what happens when we let them chip away at our rights because at first it wasnt me it was those guys than those other guys and when they came for me there was no one left . I think the key quote here is " I think the ministry is trying to destroy us because it doesn't have the resources to police us." The gov seamsw to be able to come up with money for the craziest of reasons WHY NOT THE MONEY TO manage our natural reasourses ????????????? .
  17. Its like Cliff said FRESH fish does not taste fishy and Susi quality fish has to be fresh never frozen .Hard to get FRESH fish in some places . Go to St lawerence market and places like that . All fish I get (I eat fish 5-6 days a week, many differ kinds )from the market I get the guy I deal with to cut A little piece and taste it raw first before I buy , never had to cover it in sause (tho sometimes the right sauce is good) FRESH is important NOT so much KInd . If I cant eat it raw why would I try to cook it and think I can make it taste any less fishy ,old ,frozen, poorly handled fish TASTE FISHY . I say again FRESH properly handled fish does not taste FISHY ... This is a family formum so I will not make the example I wanted but If it smells like fish it tastes like FISH if it smells like a summer day , all clean and fresh IT tastes LIKE chicken if you get my meaning lol ...
  18. Im with Roy but i go alittle further , I dont know why you need a braking system , unless you dont have any thumbs .Used to go to the casting competitions and after talking to the guys I saw all of them had no brakes on their reels . I take all the brakes off all my casting reels now . I spent a long time untangleing things at first but after much pratice in the park throwing hookless lures into hoops and flower pots I got the hang of it ( I think untanging so many birdsnests made me a better caster than if I had just turned on the brakes and settled for half assed) ??? . Things I look for in a reel are speed , how much and kind of line it can hold , smooth Drag not brakes .
  19. Dont think theres one color for all condishions. Water color (vizablity) , Sunny or overcast , Night or daytime , Type of nateral prey , Deep or shallow ..etc. etc. I start with a white or black and than fine tune from there , seen days when pink was the color or purple ???After I find a color their hitting , Once the bite slows down I change up again , Im allways playing with colors never found one that worked day in and day out . Remember years ago I had a thing called a Color-c-lector ? (sp) or such that we would lower down on the downrigger that would tell us what color was showing up best at the depth we were fishing (Its in a box in the basement now I think ) never trusted it much I guess as I think I only used it a few times the first year I got it , never tryed it in shallow lakes .
  20. Is IT just me , i Noticed that MEAN Kitty at first glance did seam to maybe be part horse ....
  21. Was a while ago I was younger than , Had a couger pounce on me from a bar stool dragged me back to her/its lair in a cab ,and proceeded to claw and bite me all over, after my playing dead from taking such a severe mauling and her/it falling a sleep I made my way safely home .
  22. Now some one will think I work for Lee or something . As someone who goes on at least 2 fly ins a year , one spring one fall , for the last 35 or so years I have gone on over 100 of these trips . I have had GREAT , good and bad , and some REAL BAD . Flew with a guy out of Chapleau when Lee didnt have what we wanted that week , should have known better when his outfit was called Derry Air (yes he was a french guy too ) Landed on the wrong lake and than could not ,after trying too hop the plane off the water a few times , take off again with us in the plane , left us out on a rock and said he would unload the gear and come back to get us .As he was flying out of site it occured to me if he couldnt find the RIGHT LAKE hows he gonna come back to the wrong lake to get us and than it started to snow . Spent a long three hours on a rock on the wrong lake with no gear in the snow hopeing this dumb Ass was gonna come back , NEVER WENT WITH HIM AGAIN , We have had leaking boats ,motors that would pull your arm out of the scoket before they would start , cabins with no fire wood or worse NO FISH. Lee looks like the COL as I said so solo paddlers right the guy is OUT THERE FOR SURE . But as I said for the price (1/2 of what we pay in the fall if I r for trophy lakers farther north and at least 150 dollars less than most guys running small operations )WIth Lee we got a bare bones opperation (you get what you pay for) BUT the boats didnt leak ( a real problem with these cheaper outfits ,the motors started with a few pulls and the plywood cabins kept the wind off us , lots of wood for the stove and the fishing was great as in over a hundred walleyes per guy and just as many pike caught and released for the week . Just like he promised and real important THE PLANE WAS SAFE and he allways brought us back .. Woulnt TAKE the wife too one of his lakes but for a group of guys for a week as Good as any in this price range and better than some .
  23. Remember first time I met Lee thought he was goona sell me chicken (Hes a spitting image of the col , white gotee long white hair etc.in a bright orange flight suit). You will have a great time ,Lee's been around for years . Remeber one spring cant remeber the lake but on the island just off the shore from our camp two twin baby moose were born have some great moose pics from that trip.Been on 6- or 7 trips with Lee and allways had a good time , tho the fish were plentyfull we never got any real trophys but the service was allways good , boats didnt leak ,motors worked and cabins all kept out the cold . Not much on luxery tho (you get what you pay for ) but for the price I would go again any time ..
  24. You should have no problem throwing a dt-4 with your setup , turn your brakes down maybe . I chose line dia. to match condishions ( cover thikness visabilty) and to fine turn depth i.e. (heaveyer the line the shallower the lure runs)not for casting distince . Im not sure about this as I dont use any brakes on my baitcasters just my thumb and remove and turn off any braking so the spool spins free and have no problem throwing dt-4s , wigglr worts and such on 25 pound power pro with a medium action rod .Found that after hours of untangling bird nests I finally learned how to use my thumb (did I say hours make it weeks) . My son and I used to get strange looks and many hows the fishing getting any bites when we would spend hours throwing hookless cranks to hoops and flower pots we would set up in the park on the baseball feild pratice and more pratice, nows a good time with the ice not good and no open water fishing .
  25. I Use abrasion-resistant lines testing at least 10 to 12 pounds with shallow runners, as most times Im fishing just over the tops of heavy weeds and you will need to be able to pull fish out of them. The new super-strong braided lines are ideal for this application, provided the water is stained (they're more visible than mono lines). Most weekend bassers are shocked to learn that tournament pros routinely fish shallow cranks on 20- and 25-pound line. Besides offering increased abrasion resistance, heavy line makes these baits run even shallower -- nice to know when crankin' cover that almost kisses the surface.
