  1. I agree with you. I stopped buying hunting clothes there because Red Head stuff is crap (from their boots to clothing.........cheap crap). They carry other brands but 70% of their store is their own branded stuff. I find it worth the drive just to Fishing World or Grimsby Tackle (more out my way). Great guys with alot of fishing knowledge.
  2. I was at BPS in Niagara Falls and the guy told me that their Fishing Classic is happening in April sometime. Dealing with these guys are painful - the juice is not worth the squeeze. I would rather support my local tackle shop and guys that support the Sportsman Show and other local shows
  3. I just like the idea of being able to store waypoints via my trolling motor, backtrack feature and ability to keep the boat at a constant depth when using the trolling motor
  4. From what I understand this goes from March 7-14th. I know the flyer is out in the US but I see nothing for Canada. BPS is a pain because there is no BPS Canada web site it diverts to Cabelas.ca so checking stock is impossible
  5. I need to tap into the inner propeller heads in this great forum - specifically around my new Terrova trolling motor. I bought a new Terrova p/n Terrova80/DSC/WR-60" and now I would like to add a bow mounted fish finder. I read the manual and there are many different options to control this motor - wireless remote that it comes with or via iphone using One Boat Network app. Using the One Boat Network app one can also link the trolling motor to a Hummingbird fish finder and I am assuming Lowrance as well (with the adapter) and once this happens you can save waypoints to send to the motor and allow the motor to follow a specific depth. I am assuming the unit just needs GPS and a mapping card?? Does anyone have this motor and can tell me if my assumptions are correct? Does anyone have a bow mounted fishfinder recommendations? I find the MinnKota web sit useless because it keeps telling you what the Terrova can do but it but does not spell out what hardware/software that you need to make it happen. I am using a Lowrance HDS7 for my main unit. Thanks gentleman
  6. Try Tony's Reel Repair (just outside of Buffalo, NY)
  7. I am hoping that the golf driving ranges open soon - might as well get a head start on some spring golf.
  8. Give Jen at AirDale a call - https://www.air-dale.com/. She is absolutely amazing and will get you everything you need and takes care of you from the moment you arrive until the moment you are in your truck heading home. Check out many of Mike Borger's videos - https://www.canadafishingguide.net/ Mike does many of their lodge reviews
  9. Good ole Stella.......sadly I had to put her down in November at 9yrs
  10. Every year between ice rescues and people parking on the ice (and losing their vehicles in the water) - when will people figure it out???
  11. I bring a small finder and use a transducer mounted to a 1x2 secured to the boat by a C clamp. The motorcycle battery is the heaviest part of the set-up. We bring some beer but opt for bottles of Vodka, Rye, and Scotch.
  12. I spend summers close by (Maple Island) and we would go to Magnetewan for the beach and my and my cousins would head to the lock to jump off the back end of it when they drained the water out of it - strictly a no no now but back then it was common practice. I am assuming you are referring to the Schmeler Tavern that was on the corner - now it is a general store? I remember going into the white general store (that also burnt down) and get anything fishing related and sold the Downtown Magnetewan shirts and sweaters. Still rent a cottage there in July and it holds nice memories
  13. I completely hear ya. I work from home and I expect to round a corner and be tripping over her, or when I come home I expect to see her at the door greeting me, or even getting a snack in the fridge - I expect to hear her come running (she could hear a cheese wrapper a kilometer away). It gets easier every week but I do enjoy the time we spent and am not ready to even think about getting another dog yet. On my morning walks I do stop and say hi to many of the dogs in the neighborhood and share the love! Take care brother and one day at a time!
  14. I have a Minn Kota PowerDrive V2 (60" 55lbs 12V) on my Starcraft Renegade 168. Over the pandemic I acquired an iPilot kit for a reasonable price and installed it. It worked well although I always felt the 55lb was a little underpowered for the size of the boat. Fast forward two years and now my iPilot head is not working - and it is not worth repairing. So I am going to convert it back to a foot pedal control and install the original head back on the motor and sell it. I'll also sell the iPilot remote that came with the kit. So I figure I need a 80lb 24V motor and am looking at the Motor Guide Xi5 c/w GPS and Sonar or the Minn Kota Terrova with iPilot (just not so sure about this technology since my last one only lasted 2yrs). Any suggestions? Any idea where the best places to buy these - fishing show??
  15. Sorry for your loss buddy. I too just put mine down 5 weeks ago - kidney failure at just under 10yrs. They come into your life so easy and letting them go is so difficult.
  16. Key river to Georgian Bay French River PP
  17. Ya I like the Massassauga - good bass fishing and lots of quiet bays to fish
  18. Just get 3 other guys willing to go then pick a place you like and is in your budget then throw a deposit down and you are committed!
  19. I agree.......I looked into a trip in NW Ontario and decided it was better to fly into TBay, rent a car and pick up groceries on the way. 1hr in the air vs 18'ish on the ground.
  20. Just got back from Anjigaming (AirDale) and we had a great time!! We drove straight through the day on Friday and stayed with Jenn and Martin at their lodge at Hawk Junction and after an amazing breaky at the lodge we drive to the air base at Wawa for our 9AM departure. Flight in was smooth and we were unpacked and on the water by noon. We were the first group on this lake in 2 years (it was closed for most of the pandemic) so we were excited about getting out on the lake. The boats were 14' Naden's with 8hp Merc 4 strokes and ran fine. Fishing was very good once we got a good lay of the land and by the end of the week we landed close to 200 fish with the largest pike in the 42-44" range and the largest Walleye was in the 24" range. We had a couple of fish fry's for lunch and only had rain blow through a couple of times in the week but the bugs were thick when the wind died down in the evening. The cabin has a solar array and a sat router that allowed us to get WiFi so we could text and send pics of the trip. The week went by quickly and I am already looking forward to next years trip!
  21. Please do not say teacher - LOL
  22. I still prefer my schedule.........the life of a sales engineer (no punching clocks for this guy). Get paid to golf and fish......I would add hunting as well but I just need to find a good customer that likes to hunt - LOL. Flexible schedule so LOTS of time for fishing and hunting & for the most part I can work remotely.
  23. That is not what the Lib's are referring to when they talk about a 4 day work week. While you are at it go for a 24hr shift like the fire fighters - 7 x 24hr shifts a month and your done.
  24. But you do know that working a 4 day week will reduce your pay by 20% I think a 4 way work week is a terrible idea. You think that supply chain issues are bad now imagine when factories reduce production by 20% - contractors, retailers, restaurants.
  25. 3 vehicles netted me $1,220........sad to say I think Justin is going to screw us for 10x that and I just do not know how yet
