  1. As I recall from a few years back finders are filled with an inert gas (nitrogen I think) and sealed. So your is likely toast, although I have an old Eagle combo sounder/gps that looks like there is a crack in the screen but it still works.
  2. Plug Reel Mechanic into your search engine. He had a great tutorial on bait casting. With a reasonably correct set up the answer is practise.
  3. In-Fisherman has a "How To" articule on this subject.
  4. Spring water has disolved solids while distilled is pure water, i.e. two hydrogen atoms and one oxygen atom H2O. I can't speak for Canadian stores but in the states every super market and big box store along with many others has distilled water. It won't spoil so you can use the left over to replace the water that evaporates as time passes. Go to a battery shop and see if you need to add some acid. For the water you are only talking $1.50 for a 3 or 4 year supply. My last post to this topic.
  5. I don't think anything will return the color to the original. I think you will be luck for the carpet to stay in one piece. Refill with distilled water.
  6. I've made the trip from Michigan to New Hampshire through Toronto many times. My suggestion would be Toronto to Cornwall on 401. South at Cornwall into the USA. Across the north end of New York State to Rouses Point, NY then into Vermont to I89 to I93 then south to Boston. There is a BPS in Foxborough in the Gillette Stadium complex. Just a short drive from down town Boston.
  7. As you design that gagage allow for a bigger boat. You will replace your boat sooner that the garage and the boat will most likely be bigger. When we built our house the walkout basement has a garage that is 25'deep with a 10' door. Also be careful of the height of the door when open. Mine just clears the butt seat when it is down.
  8. Based on the pictures Voyaguer's is the place where we stayed. We liked it well enough to stay there on the way back.
  9. We did the same thing from southeast Michigan many years ago. we stayed at a motel at Batchawana Bay. Motel was north woods nice, clean and the resturant was quite good. I can't recall the name but it is on the north side of the road. We were doing the same thing. Quite a nice drive, lots of water falls, ocassional great views of Superior, many moose just generaly a nice trip. We had no reservations and just took our chances and were pleased with the results. We took the cut off north of Thunder Bay and were etill happy with our lodging. No Batchawana over all but still okay.
  10. Lake Winnipesaukee, New Hampshire's largest lake has many many bass T's and the states DNR (Fish and Game) did a study in 2007 and 2008. Nearly 50% of the T'e in NH started frome and weighed in at the Ames Farm resort which helped in the study. I tried to add the address but for some reason known only to the computer gremlins that punish old people I couldn't. Search on NH Fish and Game and ask for information on bass tourney release information and you should get the full report. Incidentally, the reason for no data in 2009 is an abutter to Ames Farm seeked to prevent T's from being hosted there I think because of the noise. NH bass T's may not start before 7:00AM to keep the noise down.
  11. Could be that the charger is improperly wired to the batteries and you are only charging one battery.
  12. As I mentioned earlier go to fishingminnesota, then forums, hottips etc then scroll down to Canada. Scrolling around on the Canada site will give you more info than you will ever need. For those wanting to take alcohol in the tarriff is more than you paid for it in the states. I've found it is better to buy most things in Canada.
  13. You can't take raw potatos, meat is not a problem but limited in amount, alcohol is also limited.Go to Fishing Minnesota there is a large section on Canada that will spell out in detail what and amounts that can be taken into the country. Usually we bought as much locally as possible to help out the local folks. No bait except for crawlers ans they must be packed in paper no dirt or bedding. Much easier to buy local.
  14. Anything over 5 years on TM batteries has been mostly luck for me.
  15. Wayne, Sorry to jump your post but how low is the water? I've heard rumors the lake is down pretty far. Thanks,
  16. I have been to Tamar and thinks it is a great place. The bass season opens June 26 this year. Bruce is a great guy and the smally fishing is very good. Without working to hard 50+ fish days are pretty common. Northerns aren't as plentiful as other lakes I've fished but size is great. They really fatten up on those lake trout. Tamar is a boat in place which I highly reccommend. If you want more info shoot me a PM. I'd be happy to give you some guidance as to the maps to buy and where/how to fish. Where are you from in Indiana? I was born there and spent most of my working life calling on the automative parts makers in Indiana and southwest Michigan.
  17. Absolutely a 3 bank charger. If you are fishing for several days you need to recharge your cranking battery. The Cbattery powers a lot of stuff, live wells, depth sounders, lights etc and unless you runlong dinstances at 3/4 ot full throttle you big motors charger just can't put back what comes out.Take it from one who stood on his head in the battery compartment getting a TM battery hooked up to start the big engine so he could go home. Buying my 3 bank on-board charger was probably the best addition made to my boat. I'll never take another boat out of a dealers lot without an on-board with a bank for each battery.
  18. Let's see. The Province of Ontario, all of the states in the U.S., and all other fishing organizations known to me encourage C&R. She is not an authority on fish. Fish don't have the mental capacity to know fear or relate to it like humans or more advanced animals. Her position on C&R is her opinion not backed up by scientific study. Do a search for scientific studies on the subject and read more. I believe one study was done by a professor at the UIniversity of Wyoming in the states. You should be able to find considerable information on the subject. Rember that studies financed by special interests tend to be skewed towardsw the beliefs of the financier. Don't get or present so much informationas as to embarass her. Not good for your relationship!
  19. Before I retired in 2000 I was in Mercury's factory in Fon Du Lac many times and the large engines have been made there. Mercs and Mariners are the same excdept fot paint.
  20. Use the arbor knot which is nothing more than a slip knot with an overhand knot on the tag end. Thr overhand knot keeps the line from pulling free through the slip knot when you pull it tight.
  21. I've fished Temagami some and have found the bass fishing very good, the pickerel fishing tough unless you go in very low light conditions, northerns aren't as plentiful as in other lakes but with the trout forage there are some dandies. I'd go for the southern arm. It gets you away from the most crowded areas and gives you good access into Cross Lake. If the wind blows from the north Temagami can get pretty uncomfortable to fish so Cross gives you options. There is a campsite on Temagami just before you get to Cross lake. Get the shoal map for Temagami but none available for Cross. I'd rate the hydrographic maps at best fair but they are what you can get. Yep parking at the Hub can be a problem. It will be dusty and could be crowded although I have always been lucky. With its issues it still saves a pretty long boat ride. I think it is like 17 miles by road from town to the Hub. There is a Marina with parking just before the Northest Arm meets the hub but they charge. Watch for rocks!!!!!
  22. Temagami is probably best known for its lake trout. It has good small mouth, walleye and northern fishing. I like Tanar since it a boat in resort and farthest away from civilization. It also gives good access to Cross Lake if you want to go there.
  23. I would tell her that I fish, she doesn't and I will not discuss this topic again. Be polite and if she brings it up again talk to the boss.
