Nah! Seaforth's west. Today our beverage of choice was milkshakes. JF

That was the thought that went thru my mind when she was telling the story, and the little dog seemed happy as a clam with her. I'm impressed that she made the effort, spending the last day of her long weekend driving around St.Marys trying to find an owner. Most folks would have just chucked it out of the car. JF

That's the nice thing about wading. There's always something interesting to check out. Rob is always on the lookout for weird and wonderful things. I guess it's his artist's eye. JF

Should have posted this earlier. If you know of anyone who lost a really nice little part Jack Russell (female) in St.Marys this weekend check with the folks at Hearn's ice cream bar or out at the Wildwood campground. A young lady was running around St.Marys about lunch time trying to find the owner of this really nice pup. She said it just jumped in her car when she stopped and it wouldn't leave. It's all white with a tan eye patch. She was only at the campground this weekend so I don't know what she would have done with it when she left. It was a nice enuf little dog I wouldn't blame her if she was tempted to keep her. JF

Just above Mitchell. We were actually below Mitchell on either side of St.Marys. JF

Forgot to mention that the whole reason for the day was to look for the Walleyes, Rainbows and Jumbo Perch rumoured to have moved in to area. These are all fairly uncommon around here so it would be nice if they moved in. The Rainbows are probably escapees from Stratford's Optimist Trout Derby that's been going on for years. I chucked worms on walleye rigs, spinners, chartreuse marshmallows and little bitty pink worms to no avail. Actually the little pink worms and the marshmallows were yesterday. Today was mostly Walleye type stuff down below St.Marys. I'm really just wingin' it for all these fish trying stuff I've read about here. Sooner or later something will work. JF

We managed to drag HTHM out for a river walk today but we got skunked. We were surrounded by little smallmouths, little redhorse and big carp all mocking us. I don't think I've ever seen so many Redhorse suckers in the river before. That was kinda cool. And the number of small smallmouths hopefully bodes well for the future. Sadly the nice clean water is already getting choked with weeds. Once the summer low levels arrive we'll have a green garden instead of a creek. All the more reason to trip on up to the Kawarthas. JF

Looking forward to trying some of that hewfangled hitech stuff. Gotta get up to yer place once I finish my two week teaching stint down in the Hamilton area. After the last few times out and tying 4# flouro leaders onto little bitty swivels my aged eyes are getting tired out. JF

As much as I'd get a kick out of another Habs' win I suspect they may be running short of rabbits in that magician's hat. The Flyers appear to have too many answers for the Habs unfortunately. But the Habs have sure been fun to watch this year and if they can take it further I say "Go Habs!" JF

I get kinda creeped out at the idea of running stuff thru my body that kills bugs. I'm pretty sure that's what the television ad said. I doubt it works like a nicotine patch anyway. JF

Jeez. If he was undercover he's the world's worst spy. JF

Just found this on my computer whilst housecleaning. Hope it didn't originate here. Maybe it'll be as funny this time around - I became confused when I heard the word 'Service' used with these agencies: Canada Revenue 'Service' Postal 'Service' Telephone 'Service' Cable TV 'Service' Civil 'Service' Government 'Service' Customer 'Service' This is not what I thought 'Service' meant. But today, I overheard two farmers talking, and one of them said he had hired a bull to 'Service' a few cows. BAM!!! It all came into focus. Now I understand what all those agencies are doing to us. Now you are as enlightened as I am. JF

Great stuff. Thanks. How many hands have you got? I count one for the rod, one for the reel and a third for the cam. That's even more amazing than the film sequence. JF

A genetic sport? Be interesting to be able to see the various bits and pieces like the foot and toe structure, teeth, tail etc to figure out what it most closely resembles. That would give a pretty good clue to it's origin and so on. It's not uncommon for physical aberrations to occur in animal species - like man - often from a diminished gene pool like an isolated colony of critters with no way of introducing new genetic material. I'm no scientist so I probably said it wrong so ....... JF

I'm with you on that one. To this day I can easily do the entire trip to Florida in one pass, but my wife threatens me with bodily harm if I keep running past 6 or 7 in the evening. I detest the return trip. There was a time she'd put up with non-stoppers, but no longer. Mebbe that's why we fly everywhere now. As for the nervous anticipation. There's a fine line between sheer excitement and serious jurassic park type butterflies. The night before a dive trip when I knew we'd be doing a new deep dive I was always wired. I wasn't comfortable till I was kicking for the bottom, then I was fine. With fishing I'm just antsy to get at it. I guess I know I never catch big toothy fish so there's no nerves involved. Mebbe one day I'll hook into a big musky and poop that proverbial brick, and then I'll get pre-fish jitters after that, but a 5# bass just doesn't frighten me. JF

Check your neighbourhood sports stores. They are always getting bat bags and hockey bags that need zippers replaced. JF

I miss my hockey & ball coaching days. Maybe I need to get involved in something like that. JF

Ever since I saw the header I've been thinking it sounds like the title of one of those heart rending stories, probably about a beautiful river being engulfed in great loads of bird poop. JF

Where to go on a Saturday night in Bancroft?

Carrying a tinnie on the roof of a van ?

Does yer van chine walk if you go to fast? JF -
Well, on the bright side they were only half as bad as game 1. I think it's just a strategic move anyway. They're gonna lose 1-0 the thrid game letting the Flyers get cocky(ier?) and then they're gonna blow them away in a 4 game sweep eclipsing the Flyers' own accomplishments. Yeah, right. JF

Like Elton says - "Saturday night's all right for fightin', get a little action in." JF -
Jeez. I'm glad the little guy didn't look like he was stuggling for air. Heaven only knows what you might have done for that. JF

Some of the builders around here are now installing a furnace/water heater combo unit. I wonder if that's what you've got. I don't remember the brand names on the units. JF
-
Generally there's another source that extracts ambient heat or cold from available water like a pond or the grey water from the household plumbing. Taking it all from the water heater does nothing to conserve energy. It just puts all the heat generating pressure on the water heater. Sounds wrong to me. Assuming there was another ambient source involved there would be a supplementary heating device in the furnace/fan unit. JF
