Hi all sorry I havent been arond in a while, I had a lot of celebrating to do with Manchester United winning prety much everything last year Any how I thought I would let you in on a dead cert for christams No.1 Leona Lewis just sang it on X Factor you know that annoying Brit pop prog with dont you just hate him Simon Cowell and the rest. Not really a fan of Leona but the way she sang this would melt the heart of any lovely young lady so dont mess about any more and send your loved one or mum a copy of this if you can get hold of it. Leona sings "Run" by Snow patrol they are great but this cover version is fantastic. http://uk.youtube.com/watch?v=Rl7r2ApESN4 Probably been done already and sorry it is a bit soon but happy christamas to you all. Yo Ho Ho Regards Clive

  5. The oldest car at the show was the oldest one above it was a 1902 Oldsmobile still running excellent. The deep maroon car was a 1939 or 38 buick The blue car is the same age the name escapes me at the moment, but it is one of the names us Brits know, one of the more famous makes. The old black ford was a 1914 model. The lucky owner has driven it from London to Lisbon 3000miles and has been selected by Ford motors to join in the New york to Seattle run which will happen in 2009 which is the centenary of the first ford to ever do the journey I think thats what he told me, I am sure there will be loads of information soon as they are bound to advertise it but you can say we heard it first on OFC. The Cadillac well every one knew that. was a fun day. Regards All
  6. Up to 99p per Litre here some places are down as low as 96p but it is pretty much a level playing field with a country so small Regards Clive
  7. Thanks for trying look forward to any more info which you can get. I am a member of ARGI Association of Registered Gas Installers and I sent this in to the members section. The Secretary posted it up in the public section and a lady called Lynn of CO awareness who set up the organisation after she lost a family member to CO she picked it up and posted it on their forum which is doing great work trying to make people aware of the silent killer. They have joined up with Carbon monoxide kills from the US. http://www.carbonmonoxidekills.com/ http://www.co-awareness.co.uk/cgi-bin/yabb...;num=1180787508 I had no idea it would be picked up and the organisation is not very well known yet, but hopefully that will change, she has been to meet with lots of our politicians which may or may not help, you know what they are like. Regards Clive
  8. Hi Polliwog, I am an English plumber and heating engineer, as such very interested in anything CO (Carbon Monoxide) related, thanks for the info. Is there anything more recent as some of the stuff is a few years old now. Also I would be interested to know where I might be able to find out any more information on deaths directly attributed to CO. Over here records are kept by the HSE (health and safety Exec) and a few other organisations. We currently get about 30+ per year directly attributed to CO poisoning in the home coal, gas, and log fires, heaters, boilers, etc. I am very interested in doing comparisons from your country to ours and other areas like the US and Europe although Europe may be a bit harder to find out the real numbers as they are a bit behing in some countries. Thanks in advance for any information. Even a poke in the general direction would be a help. Regards Clive
  9. Bump, just the once then I will put you all out of your misery Regards Clive
  10. Hi all went to a show at Grimsthorpe Castle in Lincolnshire today took the family it was an absolutely lovely day, saw a few vintage American cars amongst loads of others and thought of yees all. Wonder if you can get them all, name only if you like, name and year would be great. There were only 5 American cars. Also to make things a little more interesting a quiz for the really clever amongst yees, one of these 5 cars is being flown back to the US in 2 years time for a long journey, the owner won a competition of sorts and the manufacturers would like it there. Does any one know which and why?, this is just for fun, not like I am an expert or anything, I just thought it may be good fun. Also there was this beauty there a lot of history to this car, read the poster which was proudly displayed along side I couldnt get enough. Hope you can zoom in on this poster it gives so much history about this wondeful car. I had a check and it looks like you can zoom in on the poster so I typed it out long hand phew I think I had better go and lie down now. 1910 ROLLS ROYCE 40/50 SILVERGHOST TITANIC GHOST Chassis 1278 ordered from the Company to rare short chassis specification on 3rd November 1901 by the Rt. Hon. Lord Pirrie KP PC of Whitley Park Godalming, Godalming, Surrey, HM’s Lieut. For the City of Belfast, 1911 and Messers Harland and Wolff Ltd. And delivered to Pierries coachbuilder – Messers Morgan and Co Ltd of Long Acre, London on 18th May 1910 for bodying as a ceremonial double phaeton. It was Pirrie who persuaded Bruce Ismay into the concept of constructing the largest ships in the world; Titanic, Britannic and Olympic, which were built at the Harland and Wolff shipyard in Belfast. On Pirrie’s death in 1924, the vehicle passed to his brother-in-law, the honourable Alexander Montgomery Carlisle, who was chief designer at Harland and Wolff and who representedthat companyat the Board of Trade enquiry into the sinking of RMS Titanic on 15th April 1912. Carlisle had the Phaeton body removed and a cabriolet substituted. When Carlisle died in 1926, 1278 was sold for £35 and fitted with an ambulance body. In 1932 this body was converted and the vehicle used as a breakdown truck and subsequently, as a prime mover for a set of gang-mowers on a Surrey golf course. It was aging for sale for £7.10s. in a breakers yard on the main London – Maidstone road in 1950. It was then sold to again become a breakdown truck, but in 1955 was purchased by London Rolls Royce dealer Jack Barclay, who had a period style body built on the chassis. Barclays kept 1278 as a promotional vehicle for thirty years, until being sold to an American owner on 12th June 1985. Repatriated in 2000 and subject of a four year restoration, including the construction of a replica of the original double Phaeton coachwork, made possible by the recent discovery of contemporary photographs. 11. Listening to the radio today back in blighty, I listen to talk sport radio 1053 - 1089 MW morning radio is usually hosted by John Gaunt ( Gaunty) top bloke, but the last 2 weeks whilst he is on holiday Terry Christian famous for something cant really remember what doesnt really matter. He had a debate going which got a lot of people very angry, which was who actually owns the land your house is built on?? I always thought that as I bought my house freehold which I took to mean I owned the lot including the ground beneath it as well and the ground beneath that too, but no apparently the queen basically owns nearly everything He also went on to say that she owns most of Canada as well, that is it may belong to some huge canadian insurance company but they lease it or what ever from her. Is he talking rubbish, I sincerely hope so what do you guys recon. Sorry in advance because I am sure a few will be rather upset. Regards Clive
  12. As the others say MJL great report, last time I saw gear like that was from a group of Germans that did everything immaculately as you might expect. They turned up one day when we were fishing the river Lot in France and introduced themselves, seemed nice lads. I am sure they must have been military types as the way they did everything was awesome, the 5 of us could not believe how much gear they had and it was all in immaculate condition, seemed like they had 4 of everything. Heres one to think about, you might like to consider using slightly different tactics, 50lb line will certainly put off a lot of fish and after all action is what it is all about. Even on the snaggiest waters 12lb was my max, not saying I am any good but I certainly hooked more fish than the others who were using thicker lines. When we fish in France for some of the monsters that have seen a lot of pressure even taking into account you can loose lots of tackle to the rocks and mussels I used to let the fish run for a bit, sometimes they head for a snag and sometimes I believe they just sit there not sure what to do next?? after all they are hooked but may not know it as you arent trying to pull their head off yet. Then get into a dinghy, great fun with a mate rowing until you can get near it and then wind down on it and let it tow you round the lake for a bit, only another slightly different angle on an excellent hobby. Not trying to teach my grandmother to suck eggs like as you certainly know what you are doing. Regards Clive

  23. For a moment I thought I was on the plumber and heating engineers web site in the UK we get that sort of thing all the time, we pay our taxes and the government know this then they come up with a new ruse to screw some more money out of us and then do just that, we have been fed up with it for years. The certificate which I took 3 years ago which was then issued for life has just recently been changed and now we have to re take every 5 years at £ 300 ish plus a day off work. It happens all the time here, so if this is something new over there get used to it with global harmonisation on it's way other countries will be looking at whta the brits have done and thinking well if we do that........ Hope it doesn't go that way but Regards Clive
  24. Going on a family holiday trip to Scotland in the UK leaving on Sunday 12th yipee, this trip is to break in our new car, the missus had been on to me for the last few years about the state of our old car, wish I had a picture now so you could see the before and after is a big difference, so newer car not brand new 4 years old and to pay for this something had to give so the planned trip to Gran Canaria had to go. Instead we will now have to rough it in Scotland I went there 15 years ago ish, and did all the touristy things, saw Ben Nevis loch Ness, Edinburgh, Glasgow, Oban, and managed a few hours on the banks of loch lomond, I was only flipping a plug about and to be honest was not surprised that I didnt catch anything, but really enjoyed the experience, now I got the chance to go back and repeat this with my children and missus. Will definately be taking the camera and spinning rod. Hopefully this time I wont end up with one of barbs of the trebble hook wound right into the soft fleshy part of my thumb I was seen in the hospital by an Italian relief nurse on an exchange and it became obvious to me she had never seen a fishing hookwhen she cut the shank of the hook nice and neatly level with the surface of my thumb so nothing left to pull on or push, I think the doctor in charge must have heard me moaning saying something like well how are you going to get it out now Einstein as the doctor came in and asked if I would like to see someone else, I said sure someone who has seen a fishing hook before, (not nastily but more sarcastically only like the English can be) so they went off to find another nurse, making my mind up that leaving it in any longer it was only going to swell up more and then be able to see even less of the hook which was now well below the surface I grabbed the pliers and pushed the nose of them in and pulled and with just a little wimpering (well I may have screamed a bit) managed to pull out the hook but also out came a lot of white stuff too which needed prodding back in, I just got up and walked out. Wonder if they ever sent out a search party Will definately post up the photos heres hoping there may be a fish or two as well this time. Regards Clive
  25. Great report Wolfville good result for just a few hours, dont worry about the 5lb line and float the fish will soon loose that, all the best laid plans etc etc, I would be a bit more worried if it was 20lb line that could snag the fish up I had a mate who was match fishing using a 6M pole he caught a large carp 1 hour before the end of the match, the match rules were something like has to be landed within 20mins of the whistle, unfortunately he didnt land it it just plodded around under his rod for 2 hours before breaking him off. Regards Clive
