  1. So Mike is going to be joining the club on Thursday... I hope all goes well and I know you will be slamming steel in no time!! Even if you are walking funny
  2. Good luck MJ. Keep your humour high...ask the nurse to see 'If this looks swollen" to her..that one kept me occupied for the duration
  3. Yeah..I did register, will have to go look for the info.
  4. It is installed G, but I never got to test it.
  5. And I think we have given it enough of our time. Thanks for keeping it civil, but in the interest of Christmas spirit, we'll put this one to bed.
  6. You have been there for me and for so many others, Wayne, I think karma owes you for sure. I wish a full and speedy recovery for your daughter and your family will be in my thoughts!!
  7. We already talked, Mike, but I want to say that as a testicular cancer survivor (we like to call ourselves Uniballers) the word is scary, and sometimes the treatment sucks..but the survival rate is among the highest there is..about 99% if caught early. I am glad you posted this. More guys and parents need to be aware of the high incidence of this disease amongst young men. I am crossing my fingers that it is just a hydrocele!! If not, we are here and we will support you..and probably make fun of you when we can Call me if you need anything! Rick, Uniballer since 1998.
  8. I have had all kinds of purebreds..lots of golden retrievers. But I have to say that the nicest, most gentle dog I have ever had was my mutt from the local shelter. I got him cause my golden was very active and needed someone that could keep up to him. Jack is a very sweet dog and is very sensitive and likes to talk alot. Labs and retrievers are great with kids. Labs can be aggressive so make sure of either the complete lineage or get an adult with a known history. But overall they are amazing with kids and love to be part of a pack. I do have to give a special push to getting a dog from a shelter when all is said and done. Somehow it seems they are just more grateful. Kelev the golden retriever... Jack the pound mutt...sweetest dog ever
  9. Wow...and in south Niagara this year they have found a Black Widow and a Brown Recluse spider. Gonna have to carry raid with me now
  10. Not OFAH...I just checked. Amazing how we have such a great fishery and no one seems to be the official record keeper. IGFA shouldn't be allowed to call itself the world record keeper, IMHO. Disgusting to have to pay to see what the records are.
  11. They used to be kept by Canadian Sportfishing, but I don't see them there anymore. Who has it now? Looking for live release, catch and keep and fly records.
  12. Wow...Avery shot up in the last year! Looks just like you, TJ! Sure he didn't want to hear that. Great trip, too bad about the moose eating all the deer though. Lotsa deer down here if you wanna come down.
  13. Using standard measurement tools (ie first to fourth knuckle on average man =3 inches) and using that for scale, I get 36 inches in length. Using girth=2.5x width=26 inches. 36X26 inches Using those measurements on a few fish weight calculators, I get a weight between 28 and 30 pounds...so this is likely close.
  14. I will pull it into photoshop and should be able to figure it there...

  16. Aaron..it is clearly the largest drum ever caught. No matter what the species, a record is a record. If we can look forward to big drum like that, more people will definitely be targeting them!
  17. There is a road down to the Maid of the Mist...fished there many times..awesome spot. The road splits and goes down to the old hydro station there where you saw the fish, Randy. Since 9/11 you gotta be chummy with security to get down there. It is worth whatever bribe that gets you in, though.
  18. That is bloody insane!! It is a freakishly big fish. When you put it on Facebook I was wondering what it would look like. Must be Tony's boat...JewelBee and I had out best outing together ever with him . Awesome fish!! Now this will be viral soon, I bet.
  19. Carp. Lots of them down there.
  20. I got here the same way as Dan...via the zoo board. I was bigfish1965 back then. I was also learning web stuff. I got some tips from TJ on starting out and eventually ended up as a tester for the company that makes this site's software. I asked TJ if he would be interested in trying the new fangled PHP style message boards. He told me to...well, he said no. As time went by the board became bigger and bigger and eventually too much for a cgi-based board. So we ended up here. It has been a fun ride. I look forward to the Nippissing GTG every summer. It has been my only vacation these last few years. Met all kinds of great guys and gals and we have all gone through trials and tribulations together. We sometimes get on each others nerves, but that what family does. The fact that each year we get o meet new members and somehow keep this thing running through sometimes very trying issues is a testament to the community. Our members are second to none and have given over $25,000 to the various fundraisers we have had in the last few years. We have seen some great technological improvements over the years and we will always have this site running on cutting edge software. We have never had any down time due to software failure. We do tend to be hard on the servers for some reason..heh heh. That being said there are more bigger things to come this winter, so keep an eye out for it.
  21. Thats the rolling shutter effect that CMOS sensors have when shooting video. They take each image int he video from left to right. CCD sensors do not have that problem but they are bad at low light.
  22. One of the biggest reasons this is a shock to Canadians is the difference in culture. We expect some universal standards more than our neighbours do. We expect that some things will be taken care of and then we can worry about money after that. Fire, police, paramedics and hospitals are primary as well as education. To Canadians we know that no matter where we travel in Canada, those things are always there. I remember when the local fire department here said they wanted to charge out of town people a fee for response. It was quickly struck down when someone told them that everyone from that town could then expect to pay in other municipalities should they need help. So it is a wash. It is a different mindset here. It is something we will never grasp. The idea that only those who can afford fire and police protection will receive it is shocking to us, but is the way some places are. I could not have stood by myself and watched the house burn with pets in it. I hope the people had insurance and I hope the insurance company takes the town to task over it. Rather than have 100 people pay $75 a year for advance protection (which absolutely smells of a racket to Canadians) they would be better off charging $500 for each response afterwards. More flies with honey...
  23. If he has another account, he just lost it. It is a violation of site rules to have more than one account.
