  1. With out proper tools you might want to find something else to do, the bearing surface and what appears to be a bolt are just machined surfaces on a casting or forging. If it is spinning the threads are history, especially with a steel nut on aluminum. Thread cutter might refresh the threads but probably not enough for a good lock and you don`t want to take a chance at busting an ankle or leg because it comes loose. Might be time for a new board?
  2. From the picture it looks like a cast aluminum axle assembly, the bolt might not be an actual bolt but part of the axle. Not a lot of room to work there, can you get a very small drill and try drilling thru the wall of the nut to weaken it, if weakened enough you may be able to split it with a small chisel. You might be able to space out the damaged threads using washers to fill in the gap, gotta watch for slop though. Pricey item? Maybe a new axle assembly?
  3. Launched mine in a lot of different places, boat is ready to go into the water before I block a ramp, and yes the drain plug is in before the boat hits the water, remember that tip! Launched off a rock at the French river, beaches at camps on the Georgian bay, always nice to have a decent ramp and a small crowd though. I have done it alone when I lived 1/2 mile from Lake Erie and used to fish during the weekday evenings. With friends or their kids, or mine.
  4. Without seeing it my guess too Wayne. Don`t know anything about skateboards, not recommended for disabled FF`s. Is there a bolt that actually is the axle or is it a molded one? Stripped threads in a spot might required a bit of backyard mechanic work if it is going to interfer with a new one. Vise or clamp it to something would be my advise and a Dremel with a cut off wheel, chinese? probably cheap steel, easy to cut. Nut splitters are available at Sears hardware stores here. Small nut like 9 or 10 mm?

  6. LOL Connie, I am predicting a global warming here in the next month or so, probably to last around 6 months.
  7. I am reducing my carbon foot print by reducing my driving, used about 4 gallons in the last two weeks, oil change was due the first week of January and I still need about 1200 miles to hit 3000. LOL not like I had a choice though. When they get CFLs to work in remote ceiling fans all my bulbs will be CFLs.
  8. I haven`t done anything on ebay in years, soon to change. Only one problem, a fish finder I bought wasn`t what was advertised, dude did send a refund when I returned it, I did have to contact ebay about the problem first though to get the guy to sack up. Sorry to hear your having an issue Wayne!
  9. Rivers entering the Georgian bay might have some good ones, my wife got a couple decent size ones at Pointe Au Baril in a river entering the Georgian there, like 15 pounds and one between 20 and 25 pounds. Just guessing that a lot of your waters have some good ones just not a heavily targeted species up there. My wife got them by accident while we were fishing for other species with a big chub under a slip bobber on a break line from shore 6 to 8 feet of water, deeper water near by. A lot of ways to fish for them on purpose, cut bait, prepared bait, chicken livers on bottom rigs, slip bobber and a big chub just opens you up to other species also. We were targeting pickeral, pike, caught some a couple cats and gar also.
  10. Sorry you had to move out Steve, just as I was getting used to you. I just don`t make the beer runs well any more. New Oxford? a bit east of Somerset Pa on US 30 the long way to my house, use the PA turnpike to I 76. I know it`s not hockey but you can ski in the area around Somerset, Seven Springs was a nice resort.
  11. Good Luck Bud! facing the same issues with one of my brothers myself, tough deal.
  12. Nice job! Always nice to see people helping out any way they can.
  13. I always use a net when one is available and the fish doesn`t fly into the boat on it`s own. My goal is to actually land the fish, not play with it on the line. From a bass tournament perspective, 1 lost keeper 14 to 16 ounce fish, usually 12 inches can mean a big change in the standings at the weigh in. I have finished 20th to 30th position in some and one more keeper would have got me a check, I use a net. Some fish can handle the fight better than others, generally rough warm water fish, eg. carp, sheephead, catfish. You can use an expanding foam insulation (like great stuff) sprayed into the handle of your net to make it float to prevent it`s loss.
  14. Thanks Rip! Got to wait for someone that knows how to work the camera to get home.
  15. I have an older narrow compared to the newer aluminum boats 16' 8" with a 12 volt 55 pound thrust motor. You will need a bigger one at the very least 70 pound thrust. A lot easier to turn down the power than not have it.
  16. Got some pictures of some back yard deer, like to post them but no clue how and can`t find the link. LOL No I didn`t take them, my wife and daughter did.
  17. For the most part I have always fished with someone, pictures have always been a low priority for me, I stopped having fish mounted in the early 80`s. I have released fish in tournaments if it looked like they weren`t going to survive the livewell. Just to me it`s nice to be able to say you landed a big fish, but even nicer to free the fighter with the least possible harm. Lost some big ski`s myself on the Georgian bass fishing and actually under prepared for them, saddest part was watching them swim away with a lure stuck in their jaw. LOL a fish, there will always be another? If I leave the camera at home I got more room for tackle?
  18. Look at Play boy magazine, most guys like em big on top not on the bottom, you wanna fatten up the bottom end? More weight less dates.
  19. Went there for 25 years still my favorite place in the world, besides fish you got scenery! Stayed at Kenlea camp for a lot of years but it was getting rundown, with the wife and kids at Rockpine cottages, nice place but it`s been almost 20 years,
  20. I have used Dacron, but not for years, almost no stretch to it, great on hooksets. Almost never see it in any place here but quality fishing tackle shops. Sort of a buy on-line item any more. Advances in mono and other lines seems to have left it behind. Visible, compared to Power Pro and the other super lines a large diameter per pound test.
  21. I agree, a medium heavy should do fine unless you fish in an area like Florida with out sized bass.
  22. Snow was just about gone here Friday morning, Friday evening we got 4 to 6 inches and colder temps with it. Supposed to be back in the 50`s next week though. April 15th tax day here usually means an end to the snow also.
  23. My wife has, she likes fishing in Ontario and New York a lot more than here in Ohio, she can cast a spinning reel ok but is a bit baffled by a baitcaster. Has to be 75 to 85 and sunny though, and not a lot of casting, she would rather fish live bait and let it do the work. All 3 of my girls are more interested than my son, go figure.
  24. I have never had a problem using original stren, pick a color, the last thing I want is line problems.
  25. I don`t keep fish often, used to keep one steelhead a year for the wife and kids to eat. a little butter and lemon pepper salt on the grill, they love it, I can eat it too. Lake Erie steel, not bad for fish. The are pretty and a heck of a fighter.
