I have been busy so I havent posted in a bit but the fishing on simcoe has been nothing less the stellar. I was excited to hit the lake this morning having a feeling that it could be a great day with the weather front we had moving in. and it didn't disappoint. we fished 95fow and for a couple hours the lakers were totally suicidal. I hooked 5 fish in less then 20 min. Dan and I iced nearly 30 fish between the 2 of us and a few of my other buddies iced a bunch too. just a great day out there. Nothing too big but steady action none the less. The fish shut down about a hour before the rain started and we headed out. All fish came on tubes. heres some pics from the day Dan with a bunch and a few for me..... weescot with one Matt with a couple, his first ever whitie Bruce with one

It funny you bring that up, I had a similar issue with my clam huts. I have had a guide for 6 or more years now and its in almost new shape. I beat the crap out of that hut. last year I bought a voyager and it had the new black coating inside. Just the wear from the poles moving seemed to remove it. I called calm and complained. they told me the coating coming off would not compromise the canvas. I explained that it let light in which effected my fishing at times and for the price of the huts it should be better quality. They had no problem sending me a new hut skin. I bought a scout this year and the same thing is happening, my older scout is better. Im kind of disappointed but I still love the huts.

some great lakes to be fished through the ice in grey. get a stocking list from the MNR and you should be good to go.

seems like people are over reacting a bit. I know bass are extremely rare and slow growing so I could see why people would instantly get the wrong idea............... They farm raise most species of fish nowdays so nothing you see should surprise you.

Perch and Pike!!! get out to kemp and get some whities and lakers.
-
Thanks Roy The ice for the most part was good. Some areas froze bare so they have that wet look to them. The only place I found any bad area's was in kemp. LOTS of heavy cracks in kemp, some open over 2 ft and some with ice pushed up 4ft high. Could get dangerous out there if it get covered by snow.

What a beautiful weekend to be out on the lake! I don't think you could ask for better weather. Saturday feb 14th Headed out mid lake in search of some schools of whities and lakers. Got to my waypoints and set up shop. Only to find very few marks on the finder. Only had the hand auger so we didn't move too many times but we could not find fish. Searched all over the mid lake and nothing but blank screen on the finder. I managed one laker to keep the skunk-less streak going, my friend Andrew managed one and Dan got a very rare skunk for the day. Sunday feb 15th We decided to try the mid lake again, this time with the power auger. Started in the same area mid lake and fished all over the place! I mean from whites shoal, to JP, and everywhere in between. Just could not find any real active fish. I caught one little laker maybe a pound, Dan managed to hook a couple but also just little farts and Andrew came up empty handed. Another tough day out on the mid lake. Monday feb 16th After a tough couple days on the mid lake we decided to stay in Kemp and fish the north shore. Met up with my friend John and his group out in 95fow and John was already into some fish! He had just iced a nice 10lber before we got there and hooked a fish as we set up. A good sign I lost the first two I hooked one of which broke the snap on a berkley crosslock., it was a decent fish but shouldn't have broke the swivel. Andrew hooked into his first ever whitefish. I think he's going to be a Simcoe addict just like the rest of us ; . Dan then started putting on a jigging clinic. He was hooking up left, right and center. Mostly whities but a few lakers too. I think he finished the day with 9 on the ice and a bunch lost. I iced 4 lakers none all that big. Andrew finished the day with a wee trout giving him 2 for the day and John was on fire himself putting 8 on the ice. What a day it turned out to be and only a walk away! tightlines Ryan Hare Here's a few pics nothing too big but some fish. John pulling the hooks out of one Andrew doing battle

I had the exact same issue your discribing with my dodge Ram. It ended up being the front diff. The oil spewed out the vent and covered the motor. In 2wd it was fine. I thought it was the PCV valve but of course its never a $10 fix. I had a s10 in 2wd very similar to yours. ( saw the pic you posted) watch the drive line, the ext cab model has week drive shafts and rear end. too much power in the 4.3.

its the pressure cracks, some have opened hugh and re-froze with only a few inches of ice. I usually drive out but its just too iffy.

well I had the luxury today of riding a sled I'm usually a walker so it was a nice change. The plan was to hit the main lake and get to some old way points for some whities. The lake had a bit of slush but the ride wasn't too bad. We got to the spot and set up and started marking fish right away. Things where looking good. We fished 90fow with a mix of spoons and tubes and the action was almost none stop, but all laker's. Hey what can you do? Catch laker's! Dan and I iced 11 and lost... way more then we should of.We started to get worried that the ride back was going to be bad with the slush so we packed up and left The fish still pounding.... Made a call and met up with a friend off oro. He had found a nice little spot and we all shared in some more laker's.All and all a pretty good day. Almost forgot to mention that I caught a laker today with a spreader in its mouth and dorsal fin and side. lol After a little hook and line removal ( about 25ft) I sent him back feeling a little less restricted. tightlines Ryan Hare heres a pic of the guy with the spreader

Any reason you are not looking at imports? Ive owned a few differnet trucks now and the toyota and Nissian's are leagues above the domestic crap that is being produced. way better tranny's and drive systems. save yourself some hassel and by a import, just my 2 cents.

I would shop around if I where you. I just recently had to buy a truck too and like you traded my car. its going to be different from dealership to dealership but you can count on getting less then going price of the car. Like Irishfield said you don't have to pay GST on the trade in so your going to get a bit more value. Don't be scared to buy something with a few more km's, your going to save yourself some deprecation in the end. you'd be surprised what 25,000 km can do to the value of your truck at the beginning of its life! I was heart broken when a car I paid over $40000 for was worth a little over $10000 a few years later. A lot of today's trucks come with a 130,000-160,000 bumper to bumper warranty, so even buying a truck with 60,000-80,000km your going to get a few years of no cost repairs before you have to start paying for fixing. Hey maybe by that time you'll want to trade it in well its still worth something! anyways just my 2 cents, look around get what you want not what easiest. heres a sweet little truck, I bought a titan and I love it http://www.trader.ca/powerpage/details.asp...mp;adid=7480154

Headed out today around 9:00 with a group of buddies off the north shore of Kemp. Started at around 90fow working tubes. Fish where few and far between. Managed a nice Laker in the 5lbs range after about 20mins. Then it died right down. Ive been working on a new laker jig so I decided to give it a test run, and what do you know picked up a 3-4lber in the first 10min! Although the jig did get a bit mangled so I'll have to work out the bugs, I think this could be one awesome laker jig! The action died right down and after that with the finder going blank. Time to move. We headed out to 100fow and set up camp. Before the fella's could get there line down I had a fish on. Scrappy fish in the 5lbs range. Next Dan was up with a beauty that went about 8lbs. Then I picked up another just over 5lbs on a spoon. Once the weather changed the fish died off completely so we packed it in. I went 5-7 and Dan went 1-3 well the other fella's came up empty. here's a few pics from the day, got too cold and windy for the poor fish. Not bad for a slow day on the lake. tightlines Ryan Hare same fish different angle
