  1. Hmmm, tough one! I for one am not religious, nor do I pay particular attention to censoring myself. Dunno, maybe its just me, but the way people are raised surely influences their conduct anywhere, anytime. I'm sure there are many words that many people dont consider "bad"...but others do??!!?? I can't say I'll go out of my way to "watch my mouth", but when someones got a problem with it, and they mention that, its not hard to compensate for them. Really, it cant be expected that everyone is like everyone else, or that anyone knows anyone else is offended by language being used. I think if you've got a problem with it, you best speak up or move along....its everyones world, and we're all different!! And I can agree with Terry....."bad" language is language, plain and simple......
  2. WOW I'm surprised it took so long for that to come out!! Consumers have buying power, believe it or not! You take the cheap way out, you make a mess down the road. Some poor schlep across the ocean far far away makes next nothing for all of those wonderful things we all love to buy...useless or not! Whoever makes the purchase makes the decision...you wanna change it??? Have a peek at your own buying habits and see just what you are pushing along!!
  3. You could also just hang on to it as one of those useless fishing things you bought but never use.....its all about the addiction!! I swear every room in my house has something fishing related in it....but the only stuff I use is in my vest and tackle boxes!! D.
  4. odd as it seems, I don't think it snowed that day 9or overnight), but instead I think it was from the fog that settled over much of southern Ontario that resulted in that beautiful display of nature!! I managed to see the same thing from Guelph up to Southampton that day, but there was no fresh snow on the ground anywhere!! dave
  5. Dry fly hooks are typically made of very fine gauge wire. Wet fly or nymph hooks are much stronger >> heavier which helps them sink. The lighter gauge of dry fly hooks may become annoying when fished deep around rocks and other structure as they'll be liable to bend much easier as they bump around various items below the surface. In a pinch, use em, but as far as longevity of the fly....get yourself some wet fly hooks!!
  6. Yo!! You should be able to find some fun with that!! First, you'll need to decide what weight of line the reel is made for. The weight has nothing to do with lb test like mono/fluoro, but is based on a system used to determine balance in a fly fishing outfit. Then, you need to get a rod that matches the line weight. Likely, you'll want line which the package says: 6wt WF floating line. Couple that with a 6wt rod of your choice and your off to the races!! Just take it into your local fishing/fly shop and they should be able to help you out......just be warned......it is addictive!! Dave
  7. That was the first thing I checked as well, sadness....... Really hoping its a misprint or something
  8. many opportunties have been lost in this edition of the regs...
  9. Here's an online version!! http://www.mnr.gov.on.ca/MNR/pubs/fishing/...-Fish%20web.pdf big file..
  10. 1. Water Quality 2. Climate Change 3. Enforcement Not necessarily in that order, however I believe these to be the number 1 issues affecting sportfishing and beyond. Dave
  11. I live right downtown Guelph, and I have seen a peregrine come down on several occasions to take birds from our neighbours bird feeder. Then it moves to my pine tree to feast....of course she'll never be told about that!!
  12. :blahblah1: Funny, the MNR, although it isn’t 100% dedicated to fishing and hunting, it decides the regulations imposed on such interests. I guess, with the money stemming from various other sectors of ‘Natural Resources’ the organisation can blatantly disregard the state of our fisheries and wildlife here. Really, what pays more???? A full application and finally taxes for a gravel pit to destroy a forest, or my annual licence to enjoy that forest? Oh yeah….nevermind! Wait…lets allow the ‘ministry of natural resources’ to permit multi-national companies to bottle water here, directly from the sources of our ever so hard to find cold water creeks and rivers….and sell it for twice the price of fuel! Yes….the MNR’s portfolio does extend past fishing and hunting…..Thanks for reminding us, sometimes all it takes is a little refresher once in a while!! PS….I see bears sometimes…they’re everywhere! :asshat:
  13. I've heard of it. Never been though. Some friends have been there and commented on how 'neat' it was, I'd like to visit sometime but I'm usually fishing....which gets in the way of alot of things apparently! Dave
  14. Hi guys, I don't post too often, but I am able to shed a little light on the situation..... This was a situation I found myself in yesterday as well......was this on a GB trib?? here's a link that may be of use... http://www.greybruceoutdoors.com/guestwrit...blewaters.shtml dave
  15. I can see where this is coming from...but I can't see why it is so large of an issue for you. These are non-native fish....they have been put here for the simple reason of put and take. Now...I am not condoning snagging or any other illegal means of fishing...but, what gives? No Luck out there?? Dead or alive...these fish are doing nothing for what should be in our neck of the woods. Ever seen Brook or Lake trout spawn? I see no mention of the attacks on these NATIVE species! I don't think the majority of anglers are out to gut a fish for its eggs, although they are out there! If that was the case...our harbours would be full of carcases...which they aren't as opposed to the usual die offs and kills. Although I fish for pacific Salmon...they are by no means high priority on my fish wish list....and I don't think guides should be targeted for influencing customers to fish for migratory fish......much like myself, your license fees pay for the stocking of these intruders, which I, personally think should be eliminated! What good is an unsustainable fishery????? $$$$$$....yes...I guess only in the lake from your point of view??
  16. Yeah man, I use cat fur for dubbing once in a while. Works just as well as any other fur out there!
  17. I mainly fly fish, but small hares ears once in the river. Off the piers, I'll go from active (spoons) to passive (roe bags) depending on the situation...
  18. Hey all, I'm kinda new here....been lurking for a while though. Thats a nice spot you've got there outdoorsman. Please, keep it secret. I've been up here for the last 2 decades, and each year there is more and more garbage to pick up from the slobs that end up there. Its bad enough with all the new signs and all! Good luck out there.....further downstream I nailed a 18" Brown last year....released. Dave
