Went with my son today to my favored lake. On the water at 7:30, like glass condition. After half an hour I've realised that this is going to be tough day. Emerging green weeds are very late this year, practically no green weeds at all. In some spots we've found some brown, last year leftovers. Water very stained, visibility 18-24", surface temperature 60°F. It does not look good . Anyway we've had about four hrs to try. After couple of hrs, not even a sniff ( deep, shallow, rocks, old weeds, all kinds of different lures ) nothing. Why I call this lake my favored lake? Well I was never scunked there, but it looked that today it is going to happen. Desperate situation require desperate measure . I have one spot on this lake (last resource spot ) where with conjunction with one specific lure produced for me every time. And I'm glad to say it did not change today Nothing big (22-24") but still a fish We've lost two more about the same size. "The skunk" was delayed, then cancelled alltogether again

Yup, but only in Toronto ( they have no idea how to recycle them ) The ideas from Torono City Hall get "better and better" every day , I do not know what they are smoking , but I do not want it ( too much degradation for brain cells ), or maybe not enough

Avoid shipping by UPS, Their charges are even bigger scam then gas companies. At the time of purchase everything looks nice. The surprize comes later (1-2months) You will receive a billl from UPS for brokerage fee, customs fee, Bull fee, and others ^$&&^$& fees which can easy match your original purchase price. It was my first and last experience with UPS. Since then when I order something from US, I specifically request shippment by anything but UPS. USPS is O.K., it take longer, so you have take it into consideration.

Good luck with it. Looks like a "dream" project for "garage engineer"

. You are right it is not big deal for car or tuck alone, but with the boat on the trailer I've had a problem to keep them on the ground

Took the boat to the lake to find some crappies. Theoretically I was very well prepared , so I’ve tried to apply this knowledge ( learned from the OFNrs ), but nada, not even a sniff. I’ve found few (theoretically ) perfect spots, where the Mother Nature has created very welcome surroundings for crappies, but they’ve decided to be late for dinner . No, I was not totally skunked, but if I remember correctly (OFC lesson ) 2 LMBs and 1 walleye (pickerel) does not count at this time of the year . I was glad I could release them at boat side in the water. Water temperature on the surface was 53°F. So that was the fishing. In case of boating, completely different story. The only small setback was last 2 km ( dirt road ) to boat launch on the tip of the island. It took 15 min to pass this stretch, in most places 5 km/h was almost too fast. Then , I’m alone. No boats on the land or water. Slight breeze and sun for 4 hrs Life is good Due to very limited cooperation from fish, I’ve decided to seriously test my new gadget. Yup, you got it right it is hydrofoil on 9.9 HP motor . I did not expect much from this piece of plastic ( it must be special one due to the cost ), but I was pleasantly surprised. The boat was more stable, bow little bit lower, and I crack my top speed record by 10%, Don’t laugh ; it went from 25 km/hr to 27.5 km/hr. Also it comes to my mind that this can be used as a step if you decide to board the boat in unconventional way.

The color is for you ( whatever you like ) I use fluoro leader abot 3' ( not to confuse the fish )

I've decided to start later ( 2-3 pm) from the tip of an island. Hopefully I will have something to report If anybody will be on Scugog say Hi ( I will monitor CH 19 on FRS radio ) Good Luck to all

For me is slower then normal too ( about last 2 weeks ), regardless what I use (IE or Opera, Home or work ) It is not consistent, sometimes works O.K. , but most of the time (75%) is slower

This going to be long story, but this is exactly how it's happened I know, the thread title does not explain anything, so let me explain and I better start from beginning Three weeks ago: Ice fishing ended too fast , soft water season still in the dreams , lots of time and only "boring "hockey to watch.LOL Until......... One of those days I was "playing" with my tackle boxes when my 12 old daughter (Maggie) came from school and started asking questions about Ferrari, Rolls Royce, Maserati, Bentley and other High End cars ( her boyfriend had a catalog at school ) After some explanation, she took a look at my lures collection and asked: Do you have any "High Performance" lures ( like cars ) in your boxes?. Short consternation and I've answered: no I have only GM, Ford and Chrysler. . Later this evening we are having supper and she says: O.K. Dad let's build some "High Performance" lures, I WILL HELP YOU. . Another sleepless night ended with conclusion: WHY NOT?. Next day I've dusted off my woodworking tools ( last time used year ago when I did my boat), adjusted them, changed what had to be changed and spent few hrs on the "drawing board". And this is the effect ( Maggie was very good with sandpaper, and getting better every day on a scroll saw ( under my supervision)) ). These are sinking, suspending and floating versions. Sinking......? Deep water........?, at night..........?. Charge it with the camera flash. This is a pattern which any predator fish will notice. Walleye pattern with eyes and blood ( glow in the dark ). Few more on "drying rotisserie" primed and sealed. Me and Maggie like it so much that we spend every free minute in the garage ( I wish the weather was little bit more cooperative). We work right now on diving versions and two more patterns ( trout & sucker ). All of the above have rattles and are pretty noisy, some are "through wire" construction Not to be bored with the same staff ,Maggie has asked me one day if we can build "Rolls Royce in limo version" ?.??????............. WHY NOT ., so here it is "BIG MAMA " ( Maggie prefer to call it this way ) with brothers and sisters, getting in shape on the orbital sander. I've almost forgot to mention about one extra feature ( I like it the most) High Performance car usually has High Performance exhaust, in case of the fishing lure (after heated discussion with Maggie) we've decided to call it HPGSFF ( High Performance Garlic( my preferred) Scented Fish Fart) This is how it works: 1" long, 1/4" brass tube is embedded in lure's body. Fill it with anything you like, plug it with piece of foam and ............ scented trail of the lure I have to go, Maggie is telling me that the BIG MAMA is waiting for some corrections. P.S. BIG MAMA will have all of the feature described above + * and ** (I will explain when is ready) P.P.S. Maggie just asked me if Muskies likes music?........ "BIG MAMA" with embedded ipod? I DO NOT THINK SOOOOOOO* Thanks for listening

Welcome to the OFC Do not worry about it . Myself, after 4 years and few $$$$$$$ s, I still cannot catch what I target , but the fun is priceless Just remember that this is the only place where you will have an answer to your question ( regardless what it might be )

I know nothing about Grand River, but if you are so desperate try A&P or Lablaws P.S. My freezer is empty too
-
I think I will try Scugog too ( and I really mean TRY ), Looking for my third crappie ( the only two I've ever caught were on different lake on Muskie size spinnerbait ). I still have no idea where to find them , but again I will try

Thanks a lot for all the info

Looks good Roger I'm sure she will treat you well P.S. I'm not sure, but if you still have two boats...... some 2x4 and duct tape + couple hrs of elbow grease = catamaran. With it you can troll from Florida to Spain

There is a 99% probability that I will visit this beautiful area in last week of May. I was there once, but only in transit so did not have much time to enjoy it. For at least 3 days I will be staying in Jasper ( Patricia Lake ). I'm looking for some tips, advice (definitely fishing related ) . If you know anything about the area, it's attractions and things worth to do, or places to visit, please help. I have a lot of info already , but OFNrs "personal touch" is the best. Thanks in advance P.S. I promise I will have a lot of pictures to post
