Couldn't have said it better myself. I mean, you don't have to like every post you read here, and you don't have to complain about everything you don't like here.

Joey, same thing happened to my house last year (and they are there now too). I was worried about the same thing, then one day they were all gone and never back, found a dead one in the front lawn, guess that's the casualty.

I came up with that idea almost two years ago (I posted here too) when we first saw gas went up close to $1. The only difference was that my idea was to pick a company with the highest average price last week and stop buying from them this week (so every week we have a loser). I think that gets them more incentive to get their prices right. I think it will work better this way. But an idea is an idea, is this legal?

Who's the king of Fresh Water? Muskellunge or Lake Trout?

After about 10 years of marriage, I think what matters is the queen, not the king. -
Steve, you didn't photoshop the photos, the first one gave away where that was. I caught this one at the exact spot, a 20lb mirror. They are probably brothers and sisters.

Mike, you have to let me know what you did to get your dad to register here. I'll do the same and I have my list ready (much longer than yours though). LOL Lazybum, welcome to the board (I fished with Mike a few times and had a chat with you after one of the crazy January steelhead outing...)

Nice report. I know carp only drag in the good rods, if they made a mistake they return the rod to you, like what happened to you...LOL just kidding. I can never have enough carp porn, thanks for sharing.

Nice report. I wish to hit the grand sometime this year. Have been hearing all the good stuffs about it.

Uncle Buck, which pod is that? Looks sweet. ccmtcanada, you never know....I told myself not to invest there and now I have so many toys I need a shopping cart to haul them around ;-)

Try this one http://video.google.com/videosearch?q=carp+jerome+moisand , they gave me some fresh ideas when I first watched them.

See? what did I say in your other thread....

You seem to be hitting every species well...... congrats !

Hmm..... I think it depends on the rig you use. But carp do run before you set the hook in most circumstances, ask those people who lost their rods because they left their rods on the bank, and a carp found out ;-) You can find some underwater videos on carp taking bait on youtube, they bolt like no tomorrow once they feel something fishy about what they just take in their mouth. I myself don't find circle hooks particularly useful with a hair rig. Carp hook themselves regardless what hook is used anyway (the reason to use a hair rig -- self hooking).

Stalker, saw your other post asking for panfish spots. No, Islandlake is not good for shore fishing. A lot of poeple fish the shore but I don't think they are catching anything (at least not consistently). With a boat though, it's a totally different place.

Or just make the groundbait stickier (add more breakcrumbs) and mould the groundbait around the sinker/lead. I have been doing that lately because of concerns of feeder spooking fish (I use short hook link (length between the hair and the swirl) like 6"). Maybe we should have a mini carp tourney......

Yeah, it can be addictive. A few tips from my experience and how most other carpers do, 1. When mixing the dry ingredients, it's easier to put all ingredients into a big platic bag, fill the bag with air, hold the open end and shake it. Much easier and a lot faster to mix the dry contents. 2. A lot of European anglers don't mix their groundbait until they arrive at the lake. Then use the lake water instead of the tap water at home. ------------------ You'll only agree carping is hard only when you target them.

Congrats, Photoz. But it doesn't stop there, there are more to come....

Pop up is the term used to described the "floating boilie" if the boilie is about 1 to 2 inches off bottom. You can either buy these pop-ups from stores or make them yourself (if you use microwave instead of boiling them, they will float). Some say microwave the ready made ones will make them float as well but the results are mixed. Some real experts think pop-ups may spook the fish in most conditions, but you don't have a choice if the bottom is getting some weeds or too muddy. A regular sinking boilie will just dive into the muddy/weedy bottom. So it really depends on the bottom structure.

Nice pictures but I thought they don't start spawning for another month or so? Especially this year I think it's about 2 week later than last when the weather got warmer.....I think they are just swimming in schools and supre hungry for food and getting ready for spawn. If they had started, they won't be interested at your bait.

Creek fishing - Not big fish...but at least some fish.

Nice report....I have to ask...how many days do you fish in a typical week? I think I finally have found someone that does more fishing than myself...have to let my wife know (she said it is not possible) -
Brian, he said it.... He said "bump\" b= BOQ (place) u= You decide (entry fee) m= Money (price) p= Pickeral (species) \= none of above I said is true

I think in that part of the world, mirrors are more common than here.

wow, since when we're starting to discuss groundbait mix on OFC? Time has changed ;-)

Steve, a week off in late May is priceless... have you fished Peterborough lately? are you saying the fish are not feeding there yet?
-
Steve, I know, I know. Yeah, I do. Some of the suggestions will get you into some fish. But I don't think you'll try them because there are a lot other things about the way you (and me) do this carping thing other than the catching part. Although, some catchings once in a while sure make it better. Not much I can say (or I need to say), I enjoy all my outings, even those fishless trips. Nothing beats the laughs and talks on the bank, and when the buzzer goes off.... In my calculation, you will get into major number in a week.
