  1. Mike, want some action close to home? I'll be there tomorrow morning until noon. Victor, join if you have time....

Good luck on the larry and show us the pictures when you are back....
  3. There are some good size bass, I have caught some around 3lb (real 3lb, not so-called 3lb LOL) in the past years Not sure how big was the one you caught. But i am sure they're there. The thing is, it's hard to avoid them before the opener, so if you catch one in the area, it's better to move on so they are not disturbed during the spawn/pre-spawn. The C.A has been promoting C&R for LMB and encourage you to take away pike. I guess that's working.
  4. U.B. you had the trout pose....with a carp.... see how Victor did it the right way in his post ... just kidding. Congratulations on the catch, it only gets better now ;-)
  5. Thanks for the map. Has anyone tried there yet this year? I am thinking to hit it for crappie in the coming long weekend...
  6. I have a seahawk 400 (about 11' long). It is great as long as you know its limit. I think the newer intex ones use thinner material then the old seahawk (also made by intex), I have the old one and it feels different from the new ones. I put a cooler in it so I can sit on the cooler. This way I sit a bit higher. I just couldn't find a motor mount to hook up a trolling motor, so far it's been 1 man power but even after 6 - 8 hours in it I still feel fine. I have tried it in cooks bay (the south most part where it's very shallow) twice early bass season last year. Wasn't too bad. But don't venture out if the wind is over 15 km/h any direction. Travelling light and always wearing a PFD. Safety first.
  7. Yup, can't wait for CAGI.... Victor is my guest. Vic, it's gonna be a while before you get invited to an invitational bass tourney, so let he bass opener go for once ;-)
  8. My son caught over 30 of them while I was busy fishing for carp the past Sat. At the end of day we put them in a bag, tightly tied, and they went to garbage can. I explained that we shouldn't put them back and why to my sons, and why we put most of other fish back.
  9. Thanks for putting together the report, Victor. Congratulations again for the PBs (twice in an outing). Sean is so hooked on gobie fishing now, althought he did admit carp are a bit bigger than gobies ;-) And he is ready for CAG Invitentiaonal... at least now we know he won't be bored.
  10. U.B. come to POC... Both Photoz and me were there last Sat and I'll be there again this Sat. Victor might be there too.
  11. Congratulations for your PB....now when are you sending me the directions to this spot? ;-)
  12. So close to where I live. Thanks for the good news. Guess I might run into you there next time instead of Walmart ;-)
  13. Kashaga Lodge on Kashagawigamog 5 min from downtown Haliburton. Ken will treat you good. Good fishing for pickeral right off the dock at night, good fishing for LMB and SMB in a canoe, also supposedly good for muskie (we only managed a small one, but that's not what we intended to target anyway). And the price is very reasonable with convenient location. We have gone there two years in a row, will likely go back there again this year.
  14. BTW, photoz, I will be at the spot where my avatar picture was taken. It's been about a year, that little boy in the picture is one year older, and he will be handing a 12' carp rod in his hands for the first time in his life. I know the weather may not be the best, but there's no such thing as a bad day fishing..........
  15. And remember this, if you don't have a rod holder, better keep the rod in your hands or where you can reach it in 0.5 second. If you have a rod holder, loose the drag so the line can go out freely. Tighten the drag as you're reeling in the fish. Only leave the rod on the ground if you really want to get a new rod.
  16. I totally agree. They are just different. Went panfising this afternoon, caught so many fish I gave up counting. With 2lb line a bigger bluegill put up a hell of fight too. Got a carp on the hook and it was like hooked a train literally, it just went and I could just wait for the line to break. My point is, fishing is fun, no one single species is more fun than others. If you still think differently, maybe it's because you do not know how to make fishing for other speicies fun. Heck, sometimes I get so excited even when I skunk.
  17. Victor, hopefully I am not the relative-new-to-fishing friend of yours ;-)
  18. Almost miss this....Happy Birthday, Brian.....
  19. Buying on ebay is fun and fine, but make sure you know exactly what you are getting (don't be fooled/mislead by just the subject). Also, bargain or not, you have to include the custom handling fee and mailing cost. Try something cheap to get familiar with the process isn't a bad idea.
  20. Just got a phone call on my cell, it's from 1-609-xxx-xxx on my call display (afterward I looked it up it's from New Jersey). Wondering who that might be I answered the phone. me: hello. lady: hmm....hello (probably not recognizing my voice and a bit unsure if she dialed the correct #) me: hello... lady: hmm...... me: Hi, you probably dialed the wrong number? lady: Have I reached Canada? me: yeah, but you might have dialed the wrong number. lady: but I reached Canada? me: yeah....*#)*(#&)*)$) Like there are only two phone #'s in Canada. Gosh.... Either I am not in a good mood working in my office 6pm on Sunday, or I am just a mean guy.
  21. you never fail to produce....good job !
  22. Thanks H.B. for this thread, does anyone else care to write a review?
