  1. Actually...to go along side my 1st picture.....I think this is his brother...
  2. My Favorite Picture to date.... "Stoty" is in the Picture.
  3. 1) Depends what depth the fish are at. Generally 3-4 feet is a good place to start. 2) Ya, that will always work, but if you dont have worms/minnows try small "crappie" jigs (1" tubes & grubs) 3) I would invest in some small (1/32 oz jig heads), that way you dont have to worry about attaching splitshot to your line. Try to fish near structure/cover (weedbeds, rocks, docks, steep ledges, etc)
  4. Hey man, If your going to be around the West end of the lake here are some tips: Stoney Lake - fish are relating to the rocks more, so crankbaits are you best bet (8-15 feet of water) Clear Lake - fish are relating to weedbeds more, so jigs are better (6-12 feet of water). When using crankbaits MAKE SURE you bump the bait off the rocks, andthen pause.... When flipping weedbeds in Clear, flip your jig out about 15 feet from the boat, let it sink to the bottom. SNAP the jig 2-3 feet off bottom, and let if fall back to the bottom. Pause, repeat. The fish seem to be quite aggressive and give the jig a good thump. (at least the past 2 weekend they have been) When in doubt, set the hook. Hope this helps!
  5. Lew, and Limey, Thanks for the tips, I am def going to try flouro leaders.
  6. I think he wants to know about mono...... Up until this year I have used Trilene XT or the Rapala mono, without issues. As long as you dont over-fill the reel, you shouldnt have too many looping problems. Like Billy-Bob said, go down to 8 lb test, which should help as well.
  7. HAHAHA, damn Stoney and all its islands!!
  8. Sorry, the poker mentality must still be in my head from the weekend...hahaha
  9. That-a-boy! Get us a couple trout entries for the tourny!
  10. Nice report. Beautiful fish! Thanks for sharing.
  11. I am having the opposite experience as you....I haven't had a problem with Vanish yet, but am having issues with PP. To each their own, I guess.
  12. There's always a party going on in your head eh?
  13. Remember that Marty? I think I will take you up on that offer now, please!
  14. Thanks Marty, much appreciated!!
  15. I talked to him last week about those....but they are for the games in Detroit. I want Game #4 in Pittsburgh.
  16. Sales to this event will be restricted to residents of PA, OH, WV, MD, NY, NJ, DE, VA and the District of Columbia. (quoted from ticketmaster.ca, the CANADIAN site) THAT IS TOTAL CRAP! They shouldnt be able to do this. What is the point of having them on the Canadian ticketmaster site, if you cannot buy tickets?!?!? :wallbash: :wallbash: :wallbash:
  17. Thanks Duber. The rod is brand new, and the guides are fine. I found a kink in the line of the spool, probably a result of line slip. I have since respooled with a mono backing and also wet the line before re-spooling. Hopefully this will solve my problem.
  18. Which is exactly what I did last night. Lets hope that fixes my problem.
  19. Believe it or not, I read in the paper today the Pens are actually quite the underdog according to all the oddsmakers. Det to win the cup - $1.60 Pit to win the cup - $2.40 Most of the "professional" analysts are taking Det in 6 or 7. Mind you....they also said ANA or SJ would win the cup.
  20. HAHAHAHA
  21. Thanks Vanselena. It wasnt a user error, I know what I am doing out on the water. Again.....the line didnt break at the knot......I know this because I retrieved the 3rd bait that snapped, because there was about 25 ft of line floating in the water, which I grabbed that had my bait tied to it. I use the palmar knot, and moisten it when I tie it. I have done everything by the book, but still have this problem. Like I said before, hopefully the "mono-backing" on the reel, and the wet spooling of the line will fix the problem.
  22. And the point of this post was...? Casting an OOS bass on 8lb test??? I dont recall saying anything about bass or 8 lb test...
  23. The line broke in the middle of the cast...no backlash at all. I just threw it and SNAP.....spinnerbait gone! Happened the very next cast too. I found a nice kink in the line down deep in the spool on the reel. I am assuming that the "line slip" happened like it tends to do with PowerPro. I stripped all the line off, and dipped it into my kitchen sink, then spooled the bottom of my reel with 6 lb mono, uni knotted that to my PP, and am now finishing off the spool with flouro. Hopefully this will solve my issue. I emailed the company and they are sending me a free spool for my bad experience. Very classy and professional! I am hoping to get out again this weekend, so we will see if the same thing happens. FYI: - wasnt a knock off line - it was 20 lb with 6 lb diameter - lures I was using were typical 1/4 oz spinnerbaits.
  24. Hmmmm......that excuse doesnt seem to work on Cops. Believe me...I have tried!
  25. If making a cast while fishing is a User error....then guilty as charged. (Line didnt break at the knot)
