Does anyone like or know anyone who likes the band Bedouin Soundclash? I won free tickets on the radio the other day but am not really a fan of this band. If you or maybe your 20 something children would like the tickets, you can have them. I'll even meet or courier them to you. The concert is next Friday, February 29, at 8 p.m. at The Sound Academy, 11 Polson Street. I was going to take them to the Tyler Event today as a giveaway, but forgot Thanks Joey

Nice report Ryan, and thanks again for the lures, it was very generous. I'll let you know how they perform for me. Its funny, the girl in your pictures has her cuffs on her pants turned up and when she was walking across the ice in the distance, before we knew who you were, we thought her boots were the florescent orange colour. Gave us a chuckle. Joey

Fishing for Tyler Report - My ice skunk is off!!
Joey replied to ccmtcanada's topic in General Discussion
It was great seeing you and Bly today Cliff, and thank you for the kind words. Actually, I was mentioning to Paul on the way home, there were so many people there, it was hard to actually chat with everyone. You'd get to say hi to one person, and then turn around and there was someone else to say hi to, and so on. A really great turn out this year. We had a great time and I want to thank everyone who took the time to help set this up and cook, etc. And of course a special thanks to Maureen. You outdid yourself this year. Here are some pics I took of the crew, and I made a special note to take some group shots for you Maureen, for next year when you ask Adam and Sandy and their "baby" Dax. It was really great seeing you two again. Terry Paul and Wayne Gerritt And some crowd shots Paul and I headed back out to try for some lakers after the BBQ and prize ceremony. Thanks for the minnows Bowshep and Aaron We didn't end up getting a sniff tho Did anyone see the sunset on the way home?? It looked like the sky was on fire. I took a few pics from inside the truck. Didn't turn out the best, but still, it was breathtaking to see. Looking forward to next year already. Joey -

Don't know what thread this was mentioned on, but I certainly missed it. Sorry to hear about your daughter Wayne. But I am so glad to hear things went well. She certainly has a wonderful resemblance to Leah, lucky girl Please keep us updated and give her my and Paul's best wishes. Joey

Alberta is booming right now. My family moved to Calgary when the first boom happened in the late 70's, early 80's. It was a wise move at first, but when things went on a downturn, it was time to get the heck out of dodge. If you are going to work there and live in camp, probably a good idea. If you want to go there and buy a house, probably not. My parents had a heck of a time selling when things went downhill there. There is alot of money to be made, but some Albertans didn't feel it was right that Ontario "creeps and bums" as they called us, had jumped on the bandwagon and moved onto their turf (they even had a song about it). Not sure if they are like that now. We got over the initial snub, but it was not pretty. Good luck to you if you decide to go. Let us know what you decide. I'd be interested in how it turns out if you do go. Joey

Flagstaff, Ariz. - What's in a name? Just ask 21-year-old Flagstaff resident Rachel Feather, who is changing her legal name to FishingHurts. Although she requested the name FishingHurts.com--after P3TA's anti-fishing Web site--a judge denied the ".com" suffix. So Feather decided to take the judge up on the offer to allow her to change her name to FishingHurts, and she intends to ask friends, family members, and acquaintances to call her FishingHurts.com anyway. Why the focus on fish? Feather--who went vegetarian on a dare from her friends after viewing an investigation on factory farms when she was 13--calls fish the "forgotten animal." She points out that fish experience stress and pain, just like chickens, cows, pigs, cats, and dogs. When fish are dragged from the ocean's depths, they undergo excruciating decompression. Many slowly suffocate, are crushed to death, or are cut up while still alive on ships' decks. On fish farms, they are stuffed into tanks so tightly that they can barely move. They stew in a toxic bath of feces, chemicals, and antibiotics until they are slaughtered. "Sport" fishing also causes suffering. Besides enduring the pain caused by hooks, a high percentage of fish caught in catch-and-release tournaments die within a matter of days. Fish and Fisheries has cited more than 500 research papers on fish intelligence that prove that fish can use tools and have impressive long-term memories and sophisticated social structures. They develop relationships and communicate with each other, have individual personalities, and grieve when their companions die. "I hope that by changing my name, people will be inspired to trade in their fishing rods for hiking boots and their fish sandwiches for veggie burgers," says the soon-to-be FishingHurts, who grew up in a family of hunters but whose sister and mother are now vegan and vegetarian, respectively. "Fish should be respected, not mutilated on hooks or dragged up from the sea. I'll remind people of that every time they say or read my name."

No Tony, I told him I would not be home on Saturday as I had a fishing fundraiser to attend. He said he understood and would come Saturnday night or Sunday then. Fishing is certainly more important He's a fisherman too so he understands. Joey

Awhile back I posted a thread about the icicles hanging off the home we rent. I thought they were cool, most of you thought I had trouble in the attic. Well, last Wednesday night I started hearing a drip, drip, drip. After hunting down the source, I found water dripping through the chandalier in the dining room. I called the landlord and he came over and inspected the ceiling, but didn't go into the attic. Well, yesterday he went in, and in his broken English replied "Dis is Disaster." There was about 4 - 5 inches of water and all the insulation and beams were just soaked and dripping. I helped him haul about about 20 buckets of soaked drywall and insulation out, shortly after he put his foot throught he ceiling into the kitchen, which now has a lovely hole. He was back tonight and will be for the next week repairing and replacing and making sure there is ventilation etc. You all are just sooooo smart aren't you. But if it wasn't for OFC I probably would have just thought it was snow melting and waited to see if it stopped when the weather changed. Instead, I remembered my thread and what you had to say and called the landlord. So thanks everyone who gave me tips and insight into something I had no idea about. Joey
