Niagara Report (pics), Spring is in the air!
Joey replied to Cast Adventures's topic in General Discussion
Awesome report and pics. Looks like we went a week too early eh Oh well, maybe we'll have to go for a day soon. Joey -
Hey Dave, I'm terribly sorry to hear about your father. I know how you feel as my father has just been diagnosed with lung cancer himself. It is also inoperable we found out Monday. They may try radiation as chemo it seems is not an option either. My thoughts will be with you and your family. Lets all hope for a few miracles here. Joey

Looks like a nice day out there Wayne. Maybe the musky was afraid of your humongous boat and keeled at the sight of it. Joey

Wow, that was quick. Cool pics. Thanks. Joey -
Thanks everyone. It was a nice relaxing trip this time, not rushed into a weekend like usual. I'm still a bit woozy this morning, but feeling quite a bit better. Might even be able to keep a coffee down now Probably gonna get some yard work done. Now where's my floppy hat Joey

Wow, quite a story Rick. I'm glad it finally worked out for the best. I hate when big banks and mortgage companies think they have you by the balls. Glad you could shove it in their face and tell them to stuff it. Kudos to RBC and their staff I will keep that in mind for future mortgage dealings. Joey

Paul and I booked a week off to fish the Lower Niagara this year, instead of our Easter long weekend. We cut it a bit short as we are both sitting here with sunstroke and its all I can do to write this. A reminder to all that the sun is strong no matter how cold it may be in the morning and spending 3 days in it from dawn til dusk might not be a great idea We arrived Sunday late afternoon and settled into our usual motel room. We headed down to the launch in the morning and started our drifts. The clarity was better than we thought it might be after the rains last weekend, but still not the best. About a foot of visability. The drifts were fast and unpredictable. It was pretty nippy until about 12 noon or so and then the layers started to come off. It was a tough go the whole time and the shore fishermen were kicking our butts. Paul got one small one the first day and that was it. The river was pretty clear of ice, except for a few bergs that drifted by, usually with gulls on them. These ducks were everywhere, and loud. Day two was pretty nippy again in the morning and this time there was a bit more ice coming down, but not until later in the day. Someone said they had opened the boom. Paul ended up with three and myself with one fish that day. The shore fishermen kicked our butts again We measured mine and it was a nice 29.5 inches. The biggest of the week. We went to our favorite restaurant that night for escargots, mussels and steak, yum yum. Day three we got down to the launch and saw that they did indeed open the boom. There was alot of ice. Gotta love the sound of ice pinging off the boat all day There was also alot of other crap in the water and it was a bit of an obstacle course all day. This copter flew by pretty low so I grabbed a pic of it. Pretty cool. The fishing was hard again Wednesday and we only managed two all day, one apiece. They were pretty spawned out and dark. Took some shots of birds while we booted it back to the start of the drift on my zoom lense. Some turned out okay. We planned on fishing today aswell, but the sunstroke took over and it was hard to just to get home. Slept most of the afternoon. Took my temp and it was 100.4 and my pulse 122, both signs of sunstroke, to go along with the overall aches, red skin from sunburn, headache, dizziness and dehydration feeling. Gonna wear a floppy hat next time Joey

Now that brings back memories Rambleon. That river is right by my grandparents old cottage. When we were kids, we used to go there and collect Mica Joey

Great story Lew. Kinda like my whitefish this year. Before I knew it, my instincts just kicked in and my arm was down the fishing hole and I had the fish by the tail, hauled her out and was soaked and exhilirated at the same time. I did actually call the MNR to find out if it was legal. The MNR officer I talked to thought it was a great story too and said it was basically a fluke that I did it. They are more worried about people grabbing spawning Salmon and Pickerel in the rivers he said, when they are vulnerable. He had a good laugh and told me to have a nice day. So, No, I don't think you broke the rules. You are human and you are a fisherman and your instinct kicked in. I'm pretty sure tho I won't be able to do that this week where we are going tho Joey

Sheesh, that's enough to make you run to the basement and hide eh, ha ha ha. I'm glad you are all okay. We had a good thunder boomer up where I am also. I have a feeling this year is going to throw us some nasty weather. Joey

What a super idea Lew. I think we have one of those lying around in the garage too. Looks like Pauly's got a new project Joey

Just this part alone of your thread in the first post shows you were trying to stir up trouble Fishon. You must think we haven't figured that out. Yet we have and we're calling you on it and now you're playing the "I'm only trying to educate you people" card. Its not flying so give it up.
