Yep the high road is the best road in this instance. Work with him or you will be forever working against him. Not sure if Meota can stand a feud!

I sold my sled in January hoping someone would take the hint and get the soft water here ASAP! No such luck.

Woke up to cold temps and a light dusting of snow out here in Alberta! At this rate, ice will be gone sometime around the August long weekend.

Awesome report. Always awesome when family is along.

Good job on the shed hunting. Some of those are going to be dandies this fall.

When I was a volunteer fireman I took ice water rescue and got certified in it. Not a pleasant task at all and is very difficult to do. For those ice fishing, all I can say, invest in a good cold weather floater suit. It may well save your life one day!

A terrible tragedy that will take the father a long time to heal from. My thots are with him today.

Nothing like great customer service to make ones day. Service like that is priceless!

Awesome job. Was thinking of something like that for my Big Bear as well.

As posted above, on a $800 trailer, probably not much wiggle room for the dealer. If that is the going rate, which it seems to be, then I am fine with paying it. If the shop is reknown for its after sales service, I never get bothered too much if I pay a bit of a premium on the purchase as I know their service is worth it.

Thanks for the replies. Will hit the local shop and see what they have and try some of these different ones out.

First off, unfortunately no, we do not have muskies out this way but we do have big pike for which I tend to use a lot of big bucktails, top waters etc on. I am in the market for a new rod and the muskie size rods are what I am after. Have checked out St Croix and in particular two of their models, the Premier and Legend Tournament. The rods in terms of length, action and power are identical but the Legend is SCIV graphite versus SCII graphite in the Premier plus some minor differences in eyes etc. Is this a big deal other than the 1 to 1.5 ounce weight difference? Also, is it worth the extra $130 for a Legend over the Premier? I am by no means a tournament fisherman. Or is there another brand or model I should be looking at?

Beautiful boat there Lew. Gonna be one sweet ride out on the water.

Watching curling on TV takes away my will to live so I avoid it like the plague! But to each their own as they say.

Woke up to -33 C here this morning. Our snow was going nicely then boom, more snow and cold again. Cripes I hate winter!

Not a chance. Money can be spent on far more worthwhile ventures in this country than CBC. We should cut their funding immediately to zero and let them either sink or swim on their own merits, whatever those may be because they have none in my eyes.

My vote goes to Sioux Lookout. Absolutely awesome fishing.

Habs win again! Yeah baby!

Our Bass Pro Shop opens out here April 9th. A lot of us Alberta guys are chomping at the bit to go and check it out.

BillyBob, many factors are leading to the financial woes of GM. Least of not which is their paying of health benefits etc of all their retired employees. Was a very good article on it in the newspaper the other day. As for your assertion over Toyota's being so good. Maybe ask my sister about her 2007 Toyota Camry.

For what it is worth, I bought a used 2006 GMC Canyon last summer out here. 42,700 km with the 2.8 l 4 cylinder. Paid $12500 and it came with a warranty to 147000 kilometers. The little 2.8 has surprised me with its power and fuel economy. I pull a 16 foot Crestliner Fishhawk side console just fine. Still when pulling at 110 klicks i get a good 23 to 25 mpgs. Empty it will scare 30 mpg. Hauled moose and most everything else in it with no complaints.

Senior forester with the government out here. Been at it for 22 years and it 8 short years I will become a full time retired fishing and hunting bum. Also did a stint as a volunteer fireman in two different communities. Been a good run and wouldn't change anything about it.

My two cents. Top ones are in my book definitely squirrel or weasel. Up at Big River should have snowshoe hares and you would definitely see the rear footprints. Should be no cottontails that far north. Mystery tracks definitely look like coyote. See them alot along roads and truck tracks in the winter as they use the path of least resistance.

I say let them go under. I pay taxes is this country and I do not want them going to some companies where the CEO is getting $9 million in bonuses and flying around in some corporate jet. The Big 3 have to learn to build a quality vehicle in a price range people can afford.
