I've tried the ice time Brian, but I always have trouble casting 10" baits into those itty bitty 6" holes

It took me 6 years to answer a puter question faster than you Rick

When your in Photobucket, you'll see an IMG code under the picture. Just copy & paste it here along with your message and it should appear. Congrats to your wife on her 1st walleye, it's a real beaut !!

Thanks Mike, that was one of the best fishing / camping / hiking reports I've read this year. Always good when a couple old buds can hook up for a trip like that. -
When I'm logged in I've got the OFC club, wwhich I want, but when I log out, it goes to some sickly blue/grey colour. Never saw this happen before.

If & when your wife reads this post, you've just earned a years worth of Brownie points Congrats on the new addition Verno, you've got alot to be proud of there !!!!

Hey TJ, I'm like solopaddler and have absolutely NO idea what that thing is either, but if you can locate one down here in the city and they won't deliver, I can pick it up and drop it off at your place on the 16th when I'm passing thru.

Sounds like were gonna have a convoy up there Raf, Phil says he's gonna tag along behind me too. Best thing about that though, is I'll get 1st cast at all the good spots

Maybe even sooner Rich, I'm heading back to Lakair in 8 days

Walleye are like any other fish and will often hit whatever bait comes close to them, including spinnerbaits.......even very large spinnerbaits for that matter. Course it helps if the walleye thinks he can actually swallow something nearly as big as himself

I just got home from BPS where I picked up the Hotmap for $180. Turns out it's very hard to find in the Toronto area as most stores that carry Navionics charts don't carry the Hotmap for some reason. I spent a day on the West Arm with Irishfield in June and he had the new Hotmap and it appeared to be extremely accurate in marking all the submerged rocks. They just show up as an X on the screen, but when you get close, sure enuff there's the rock right under the surface where the map says it is.

As I mentioned in another thread, I just got home from the trailer yesterday and spent the last 17 days fishing all over the Kawartha Lakes & the Ottawa River, and in all my 50 odd years of fishing , I don't think I've ever had as many close encounters and near misses with other boaters as I've had this summer. It seems lately that nobody gives a damn about anyone else on the water anymore and they just go wherever the heck they want and to hell with anybody who gets in there way. I lost count of how many jet-skiers decided to do donuts within a cast length of me. Water skiers figure it's just fine to fly by other boats at 50 MPH only a few feet away. Catch a nice fish and within minutes there's 8 other boats sitting beside you. I was trolling south on Pigeon last week just approaching Gannons Narrows and some moron in a big 35' cruiser came outta the Narrows, made a sharp right turn at about 30 MPH and missed me by 50' while he was throwing up 5' waves. Didn't matter that there was 2 miles of open water behind me that he could have used. Last Sunday I was trolling another lake and again some idiot in a cruiser decided to pass me at about Warp 9 right beside me, cept this jerk came at me from behind and I didn't even know he was there till he was right beside me. Good thing my boat is wide & deep or I'd have been in the water looking up. Doesn't matter how much you scream at these clowns, they just keep on smiling as they go on their merry way looking for the next person who has the nerve to get in front of them. It's nice that the Government has decided to require everyone to get a boating license, but it just may be a better idea to actually teach these jerks how to operate a boat safely before they issue it. Who cares if they know which side of a marker to pass on if there gonna run right over someone & kill them in the process of figuring it out. MORONS..........

Congrats on the new PB, it's always good when another milestone is reached Guess you weren't sleeping thru all the Odyssee seminars afterall eh ??

Thanks Roy, I was aware of that but it doesn't really matter to me as I seldom head west of the bridge anyways. I'll be fishing the West Bay area from the bridge out to the Big lake

Mornin boyz, I'm heading out today to pick up a Navionics Hotmap for Nippissing, specifically West Bay area, are wondered who has the cheapest price in Toronto. LeB's is $195 but I'm hoping to do better than that. Cabellas is $149 U.S. but not sure what that works out to CDN once everything is factored in, plus I need it for next week and it may not arrive in time. I purchased my XL-9 Gold at West Marine for a decent price but wonder if anyone is cheaper ?? Any thoughts ??....... East of Yonge St would be preferable

Thanks for that Raf, it's great when a plan comes together !! Great pics of the osprey and an awesome fish for the Dipster Hope the leg heals fast.

Thanks folks, it was a fun couple weeks. Richard, sorry we missed you on the Ottawa last week. We fished everywhere from Wendover to Hawksbury and thought we'd run into you somewhere. And Dax, there ain't no such thing as an ugly musky, some are just purdier than others Actually I have no idea what those brown marks are on the sides of the fish. They just appeared to be some sort of discoloring in the pigment and were on both sides of him. Sure didn't stop him from scrapping though

Absolutely Marc, I too have had the pleasure of dining at Chez Boudreau. J also sent me home with a jar of the finest homemade zuchinni relish I've ever eaten

Hi guys, I've been up at the trailer for the last 17 days and just got home a couple hours ago, and thought I'd post a couple pictures of the many muskies we boated. Their really hot right now and we probably boated around 25 fish or so, plus missed a few and had many others that didn't want to do anything other than look at the boaits that were offered. We spent alot of time on the tri-lakes, plus a trip to Stoney and they've all got some extremely active fish right now, and their hitting both casted and trolled baits. All muskies are alot of fun to tangle with, but I think the ones that give the biggest bang for the buck are the very aggressive fish that hit the bait right beside the boat on a figure 8, but some have to really be worked hard to make them hit, and this 1st fish did everything you'd expect them to do, and then some. I was fishing with Meeley and was casting/jerking a perch colored double "D" when I 1st felt the fish bump the bait, and then saw him following with his nose practically touching it, but he wouldn't commit. I started the figure 8 and he followed it on every turn but wouldn't grab it, so I changed up to a large circle and still he followed. It was great to watch him twisting and turning right under our noses, and he followed every turn for at least a minute, the longest I've ever had a musky follow an 8 without clamping down on it. I even stopped the bait to see what he'd do but he then stopped and stared at it. As soon as I moved the bait he took off and dove for deep water. I pulled in the bait and set the rod down, and had Meeley hand me another rod that had a large spinnerbait on it. I gave the fish a few moments to get back to her ambush spot and then tossed the next bait in that direction and started a fast retrieve to see if he'd come after it again, and sure enough, he came after this one too but again wouldn't grab it, so I started another large, sweeping figure 8 and again he chased it for another full minute before he finally hammered it. He dove deep and put up an excellent fight before Meeley got her in the Frabill. I've caught alot of muskies over the years but have never enjoyed an encounter with one as much as this guy, and everything worked out textbook, with the follows and the throwback baits. Definetely one fish I'll remember for awhile. About 30 minutes later we've moved about a mile down the lake and I'm still tossing/jerking the same perch Double "D" when I see another fish coming after it hard. About 10' from the boat he opens his mouth and clamps down on the bait, I feel the weight, set the hook hard, and the bait comes right outta his yap....damn, missed him....and he turns and swims back down into 20' of water. I toss the bait back at him and start jerking, and sure enough, he's coming after it again just like the 1st fish 1/2 an hour ago. Again I go into a figure 8 and again this one starts following but not as long as the 1st, and he chomps down on the "D" after about 5 turns. Meeley again has the net ready and he's in the boat for a quick photo. Not a biggun, but darned near as much fun as the 1st Last week Smokey & I headed to the Ottawa River for 2 days. The weather was unbearably hot to be on the water from early morning till supper time, and the water was about the colour of coffee with about 1' of visibility but we still had alot of fun and got a couple fish but not the monsters we were looking for. I picked this one up casting a brown/brass boo-tail in shallow water Mike picked up this guy on the 2nd day trolling a Jake, then 30 minutes later got another one almost identicle and on the same bait. It was a great couple days and hopefully Mike & I can get back there again next year. The best part of the whole 2 weeks though was having my wife spend an evening on the water with me as I trolled around while we watched the sunset. Lots of fish caught but these couple were the most fun the play with

WTG Roy, congrats to you & the Mrs. !!!! I've been away for a couple weeks and just got home a few hours ago, and seeing you & J with those 2 beauties is a nice way for me to get back in the groove on OFC. Marc never fails to put folks on bigguns

Were heading to the trailer in exactly 126 minutes and won't be back in the Big Smoke till at least August 6th at the very earliest. There's gonna be plenty of muskies boated, lots of laffin and many miles put on the truck and boat trailer in the next couple weeks. I'll be spending alot of time lookin for muskies on the Tri's & Stoney, and am fishing with Meeley next Monday. Next Wednesday & Thursday myself & Smokey will be chasing muskies on the Mighty Ottawa River and is a trip I've been looking forward to since we both fished there last October. Have fun everyone and I'll see y'all in about 17 days....maybe

One thing to keep in mind when there's lightening in the area, is to unplug the system till it passes. We had a lightening strike in the park a couple years back and it blew out my dish and receiver box, even though the system is grounded with a lightening rod.

I've got StarChoice up at the trailer and have the same problem whenever it rains very hard, but as soon as the downpour ends, the signal usually comes right back. Everybody else in the park has Bell Expressview and they all have the same problem too, so it would appear it's common with all smaller dishes.

Yup, that's the guy I was thinking of wkrp, thanks. He had a good show, wonder whatever became of him
