  1. With all this power John I can cook whatever the heck I want
  2. About 3 years ago I had a Generac automatic standby generator installed to run my house when the power goes out. Great unit that comes on automatically when the hydro goes out and then turns itself off when it comes back on. Six o'clock this morning a TV show comes on about the benefits of Generac generators so I pour a coffee and settle in to watch it. Sure enough, 5 minutes into the show and my power in the area goes out, the house goes dark for 10 seconds and then the Generac fires up and I'm good to go. Couple other folks on the road also have Generacs and their all purring along nicely too. Don't know how long the power will be out but it sure is nice to be covered. Talk about a crazy coincidence
  3. An old expression from my fire fighter days... Try the door knob before you grab an axe
  4. Picnic beside a river around 1949 or so but I have no idea where it is. My little bro facing the camera, me facing away and Mom getting lunch ready.
  5. And if you do get stuck Brian, you can use the sand for traction.
  6. In the red coat Norm ??
  7. The good old days for sure Norm !!
  8. Not even hydro LOL
  9. I just renewed my license plate sticker and it looks like that went up too. Little bits here and there, but it all adds up after awhile.
  10. My hairs so old Joey, it's hard to remember WHAT it was
  11. Here's another one you may like Joey, they say all you ladies love a man in uniform. I'm the tall good looking dood on your left, the other feller is my little brother Ed. Maybe 1950
  12. Howzbout 1st skooters Joey, this is me around 1949. Looks like I was riding through the mud
  13. Sorry, I thought it was obvious what I was talking about.
  14. Almost need some of them funny cigarettes to put up with our governments Norm LOL
  15. Wonder how many folks just assume the lug nuts on a trailer are the same size as the tow vehicle. Bit of a shock when you think your prepared.
  16. Couple posts lately about tires got me thinking about something. I was driving down hwy 28 a couple weeks back when the dashboard lit up telling me I had a soft tire. I pulled over for a look and sure enough the back right was low with a 2" wood screw in the tread. I went down the road 1/2 a mile to a donut shop at 28 & 7 and parked around back and changed the tire. My current vehicle is an F-150 with 20" wheels so their heavy and awkward but not really that big of a deal to change. I change them twice a year for the winter tires anyway so I'm used to doing it and have for as many years as I can remember. I carry an old sweater and gloves to keep somewhat clean while on the road plus a tarp to kneel on. I lubricate the mechanism holding the tire under the truck twice a year to make sure it always works properly plus check the spare tire pressure. I also keep the jack lubricated, plus carry a power bar if a lug is too tight and even some short pieces of 2 x 4 to put under the jack if the ground is soft. I do most of my driving on country roads and don't want to be stranded in the middle of nowhere because of something as simple as a flat tire. This was my 1st flat in 15 years but it was good to know I was prepared. I mentioned to a friend that I'd changed the tire and he was amazed. Said he's never done it and wouldn't even know how, and doesn't even know where his spare tire or jack is. If he gets a flat, he calls a tow truck to change it for him. Twice now in the last couple weeks I've seen guys parked on the side of the road with flats and just sitting in their cars as if they were waiting for help. Just curious, can you change a tire on your vehicle on the side of the road, or do you need to call for help ??
  17. Sorry boys, but you fellas are waaaay over thinking this. With a bit of practice, backing up a trailer is darned near as easy as going forward and nowhere near as difficult as some of you are making it out to be. Go to an empty parking lot early on a Sunday morning and spend a bit of time practicing a few different turns in reverse and you'll be a master in no time.
  18. I finally became a senior and got to fish for free, now they want to start charging me to fish again and if that isn't enough, they want even more $$$$. Oh well, I spose they'll just raise my pension to offset the difference.
  19. (ri)verdale 3331 That was our phone # in Toronto in the late 40's--early 50's But I can't remember what we had for supper last night
  20. I'm proud to say most of the men in my family stepped up when the wars started and fought to keep the rest of us safe & free. Dad spent 5 years in the Navy and his brother did his 5 years in the Army and both saw too many things they wished they hadn't. Mom's brother flew bombers over Europe and was killed along with his whole crew when their plane went down. Dad's dad, my Grandfather, fought in the trenches of France & Belgium with the British Army in WW1 and told stories of unimaginable horrors those men went through. Dad home on leave during the war My grandfather in much happier times Mom's brother Leonard in an old bi-plane he flew before the war and a couple years before he was killed..
  21. That really stinks Dan, you try to be a good guy and help others and these punks couldn't care less. Until our poor excuse for a justice system starts punishing these pieces of garbage there's not much deterrent for them.
  22. I've got 5 Samsungs, all nearly 5 years old, and not a single issue with any of them and the pictures are as good today as when I bought them. Next set I buy will be another Samsung.
  23. I use BFG Winter Slaloms on my F150 and their an excellent tire. Going into my 5th winter with them and the tread is still in great shape. Excellent traction and nice & quiet on the road.
  24. I don't cast cold water muskies anymore but when I did, large Suicks were the bait I'd always start off with. I always added extra weight to increase hang time and they were very effective.
  25. That's odd Cliff, I've been using nothing but PP for about 12 years now, have landed lots of big toothy fish with it and have NEVER had an issue of any kind. Be interesting to find out why you have the problems you do.
