  1. They are all good as long as it says "Shimano" on them. I have a Shimano 1200 that cost me less than 30 bucks USD, It's 35 years old. Looks beat up but works like new. That thing has been used ice fishing in northern Manitoba and bushwhacked into Canadian and US jungles that looks like The Mekong Delta.
  2. I can't peg the exact time and place I sadly realized my mind is more than willing to do like putting up drywall but the body refuses to do those things that took me minutes in the past. I can't even carry 1/2 sheet of drywall solo now. The frustrating thing is trying to help my wife do something construction related that I know is the correct way but she insists she can do it better "her" way. I know there is more than one way to skin a Cat but using a rock to skin it is just plain wrong. Then after 30 minutes of her trying it her way it took 3 minutes doing it the right way "my way." Ohhhh man!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
  3. This is the latest pic I have. If I find my phones patch cord I'll take a new one. Notte Bene, I locked my elbows! Not bad shape for 65.
  4. A few years ago fishing Perch at Port Burwell buddy caught a jhet black 12" Goby. I was told that's what the original sizes were when they first were found in Erie. I found an article saying the same thing.
  5. I don't care how big or small a fish is, it's a fish. A goby after 5 hours of hitting the water hurts though, I don't count them as a fish.
  6. We live in a village called Selkirk for gosh sakes. We even got a flashing red light a few years ago and the Mayor cut the ribbon. And yes we can still rent movies, for $2.99, $6.99 from Bell TV, unfortunately VHS is no longer available Dave. Even Blue Ray whatever that is, doesn't work on my machine. When we move we are going to join the 21st Century and get streaming video, if I can enough band width, I'm learning, slowly.
  7. Typical Nickolas Cage movie, It starts for 90 minutes and then doesn't finish. "" LOOKING GLASS" Cage owes 100's of 1000's in back taxes to the IRS. He did this one to pay down the debt I guess. Terrible way to waste 2 hours. If he spoke the worst line in movie history it might have been worth it. In a movie called ""Straw Man" if I can recall he stops a woman riding her bicycle, pulls a gun on her and says "Step away from the bike!" Then he is burned at the stake by the locals.
  8. Tohatsu is who again?
  9. You are absolutely right Pics. I have heard of guys launching here at Nanticoke to get the abundant numbers of Walleye here on Erie in 14 foot tinnies with 2 to 4 foot waves. They are insane.
  10. We put an offer on a place 15 minutes from Lake St. Clair. They wouldn't budge so no sale. I might never be home but I would only be 15 minutes from the shack.
  11. 1000's of pics on here and I can't find one with me without shades and a hat on. I don't want to post a 15 year old pic 40 pounds heavier than now. I'll ask my wife if she has any.
  12. Nowhere as often as ManitouBass2. MB2, come in please, MB2 come in please, over. I found out through another member here he is OK then he texted me. He's fine. I was on a few other sites regularly and haven't posted there in years. I only got kicked off of 1, actually I kicked the proprietor out not he me.
  13. I can't believe how many here post all day when they are supposed to be working (Terry, Brian). Ah man I digressed once again after saying I wouldn't just the other day to Art. I have deleted 95% of the post.
  14. Yes you will need an out of State licence for NY State. We have fished the river from shore on the US side. The few times we have we found many Smallies from shore. All we used were Mr. Twisters (yes that long ago) on 8 lb. mono. . Threw it upstream and let it bounce downstream. You want enough weight to touch bottom. If a jig didn't find bottom I put on a heavy egg sinker and used a floating jig head. That is a long river, goes from Buffalo to the brink of death and then to Lake O. Giving you a specific spot and tackle is tough. Like I said fishing The Art Park was good for us and easy to get to. It can get crowded on a weekend, packed actually, I would never go on a weekend. You didn't know if it was going to be anything from a Perch to a Brown Trout you will hook onto there. Lost many tackle being snagged on the rocks or broken off by a fish. We didn't have the super lines we have now, it was all Mono. Never more than 8lb. The same holds true for the Canadian side which I hardly ever fished. Many relatives in Western NY I fished the US side with. They know the Honey Holes. We usually fished the river in North Tonawanda where it meets the Erie Barge Canal. Never kept a fish from that river to eat. The Steel plants were going strong back then and everything washed downstream. Lately I have seen guys throwing lines behind the Marina in Ft. Erie, I think it is Nickols Marina. Ask permission 1st. You will need a NY State out of state licence and a copy of the NY State regs. and learn them too. Make sure you aren't fishing on private property. If I were to fish the lower today I would wear my inflatable PFD. Good luck and enjoy.
  15. Muhahhhaaa.Where you been man, new lady friend? That will keep you busy. There aren't any Musky left on LSC, zero, zip, ziltch. Don't bother going.
  16. This AM they are reporting it was a 48 year old male that went missing. The report says that an hour after the boater left for fishing his friend saw the unoccupied boat from shore using a telescope. I have a telescope here on the lake with a "land lens". It is very, very difficult to use on land unless the tripod is set in buckets of sand and the image comes in upside down. Hard to pick out a Tall Ship let alone a small dingy out in this lake. My years of investigation has made me pessimistic, we'll see.
  17. Upper or lower? Sounds like upper. If it's the lower I can tell you to join a gym and work out hard for 6 months so you climb back up the gorge. And don't fall into the river. Every one of those fish you mentioned are down there plus more. The best shore fishing I have had on the lower river is from The Art Park on the Lewiston side, easy access and egress.
  18. I was told Yamaha make the bottom ends for Merc. You will get noticeable performance with 10 extra HP Gino. A 25 HP is 64% more than the 15. Think of it that way. Check my arithmetic I just woke up. Put in a shift at the Niagara Casino last night. I should have stayed home. I'll look for a pic without my shades and hat on Gino pisano mio.
  19. Then it wouldn't be fair my Buckeye pal.I don't think I'll see it in my lifetime. Gino, my wife pointed out that the guy in photo's 5 and 6 could be my twin. She might be right. I don't think I have a recent, 25 years, pic of me without my hat and shades on and I'm not holding a fish. I'll look.
  20. I heard the 1st yellow Coast Guard helicopter fly by very low about 2PM. The pilot was circling our place continually, not a good sign. I was going to a friends at Featherstone Point on the west shore about 3. There were 5 OPP vehicles and about 30 folks gathered at the cottage of a very close friend that had passed a few years back. His daughter rents it as a vacation property now. When I got to Featherstone there were 3 boats west of the point. Our OPP Zodiac and 2 from our Coast Guard station in Port Dover. I am very surprised that our glass OPP boat wasn't out there too. edit: That would have left a large portion of the lake and Grand River without a marine vessel. About 4:30 a second chopper began to search as well. They were searching a very tight grid. As the day went on and the second helicopter arrived the grid got larger heading east, There was a mild wind from the south west all day. An update. Global News reports that a 42 year old man was reported missing yesterday, Wednesday morning from what was supposed to be a short fishing trip west of Featherstone Point. He was in an inflatable boat. The boat was recovered yesterday but not the missing fisherman. A poor news report in my mind. What type of "inflatable"? A CTC blow up toy or a proper inflatable. Did he have a PDF with him? Does he have any safety items with him? Is he a strong swimmer? many questions that could have been asked. I pray for a good outcome but this will be the 2nd night missing. It's much different reading about a search for a missing boater and watching the search. The boys were doing a job on the shoreline and scouring the shore with good binoculars watching for a body to wash up on shore. I can't imagine the grief the family will have if the outcome isn't good. Going from a vacation week on the lake to grieving at a funeral home.
  21. Exactly, many recipes out there including some of mine were by mistake. Talk about pickles green beans. We had guests over one day this summer and I know Dominic and Mary like Caesars. So I picked up a jar of pickles green beans, my wife likes one in a while and we had dinner and hers came with a long pickled green bean, cool. But 6 bucks a jar!!!! There are 3 beans missing from them. I better start making her a few and a good excuse for me to start drinking Seizures. I don't think I have ever had one outside a Golf course.
  22. I would choose Nanticoke Bill. The fish are everywhere I hear but are moving west as they do every year. I think many of these Pics are locals fish based on their smaller sizes. Good luck. I don't have to tell you to check the weather and wind sites. They are even catching them in a NE and even due east wind. Unbelievable. Stopped by "The Fish Shack" just up creek from Hoovers Marina where he slips a dozen boats. Everyone limited out that day in 60' of water. You could launch there for 1/2 the price as Hoovers in the past but his dock wall is under water.
  23. Don't want to start a new thread. The question is what food if any do you really dislike? I tried both Snails and Eel, I do not like the taste and texture of snails and the eel tasted "off" to me. I despised then and now refuse to eat a spaghetti like pasta called Bucconcino. One pasta I have never bought. It is a thick spaghetti with a hole down the middle. My Noni used to serve it, regularly, and it looked like long red and white worms to me with blood coming out of the middle and ends. Makes my stomach turn 60 years latter.
  24. Got it Smitty. They sound wonderful, I love carrots. I's a big world out there with some wonderful variations of foods. Not many foods I don't like. Snails and Eels on the top of the list of "I'll pass thankyou." but I have tried both. I get frustrated when I ask someone to try something and they say they don't like it but have never tried it, like Pike. I've had deep fried snake by mistake once overseas and believe me it was good.
