If I want to know what the weather is I go outside. Then it doesn't matter much because being on the lake what the temp here and what it is 1 KM from the lake may be 5C different. So really it is just an adjustment of the AC or heat in my vehicle. Just yesterday AM not a branch was moving here with a north wind. We have a woodlot to the north of us. I go 150 meters to Lakeshore Drive and there are 4 foot drifts and blowing like mad. It may be dry here and 25K down the lakeshore to the Grand River and it's pouring at the golf course. Why I even bother to check the weather station I don't know. Anyone that happens to have a place on big water knows what I'm saying. There are sites I depend on greatly for wave height, looking on the beach has nada to do with what is going on 5 miles out Pickerel fishing.

What else are they going to talk about on Thw Weather Network dedicated 24 hours per day to the weather. Same freekin thing every 10 minutes for 24 hours. Same as the 24 hour news channels same "news" every 10 minutes including the same weather for 24 hours. They will break in with world changing developments because the weather has changed. You know what I mean. We get the Boston US networks on our dish here. For 2 days this week "JUDGE JUDY" was preempted to cover the "Snowmagedon of the century". They got it right, it snowed. Don't mess with Judge Judy. This is something I would love to hear from a news report from a reporter that has had it. Now we go to Lance reporting from the centre of this strange occurance, I must warn you some images may be disturbing, Lance.... Yes Chip I am here in the middle of what I can only say that this is something this reporter has never seen before and never wants to see again. If you can see behind me is some type of white particulate the is dropping from above in a verticle fashion. We are out here Chip without any protection and have had our skin come in contact with this possibly deadly material that is most likely toxic. I can tell you it feels wet. Several calls to the White House the Pentagon as well as NASA have not been returned. What are they hiding Chip? If I don't make it back alive, please tell my family I love them Chip.

Thanks Terry. I didn't want to paste the text, something about copy right. But that's it, thank you. I need to get some shut eye this week. -
It's about time, at least a start for jailing poachers. Sorry wrong link, I'm trying.

Take a real good look at the people around you

This hits close to home as I had to bury 2 good friends within a week this month. And a 3rd is in a hospice with stage 4 brain cancer waiting for his life to end. It seems the death of someone close and someone not close sometimes changes our look on life, some for the good some for the bad. The entire town of Caledonia and area mourns as we prepare to say good bye to 2 good young men that met in a head on collision and both lost their lives on a wet and cold windy morning this week. Death is tragic no matter. A 18 year old son and just a child was amongst the two and a 52 year old Dad was the second who also lost his life a few days ago. The first emotion for my wife and myself for our friends and then within a few days our neighbors was grief. Our second emotion is anger and bewilderment. For some mothers and fathers, sons and daughters, wives and husbands brothers and sisters in war torn lands the grief is followed by bewilderment that turns to anger and rage. That rage often turns to vengeance and the cycle starts for another family and friends who mourn the loss of their loved ones. And the cycle of violence once again begins. There is no simplified solution here, it is life but just being kind to one another here may be a start. -
Have you guys ever eaten Snook? I have not. I bet it's good. Since that Australian Crocodile guy got killed by a Ray I step gingerly when I wade. Do you take precautions. Telling you it is a great video is becoming redundant but I'll say it regardless. Great video again Sir. When you started crawling along those roots you said exactly what I was thinking. If someone calls for help from the Mangrove and there is no one there to hear him does he make a sound?

Sour Squirrel that's a nice unit you have. You get what you pay for. I know a guy that buys a $199.99 CTC special every other year. BBQ's are like big screens now, they drop in price every year and in quality. They look nice and shinny in the store and last maybe 3 seasons. Lucky if you get enough heat to do burgers and dogs. For that they are OK I guess. Dan that's not a BBQ I'm sorry to tell you. That is a BBQ pit. The boys out here have a community pit we built that is built into trailer we can haul around by truck. We do local shin digs using whole pig, lambs and a good portion of a steer. We did 3 goats on it once. And 45 chickens I think it was. It's a lot of work and we basically charge cost for anyone in the community. Restaurants that call, well that a different story, money can be made. We just have to remember someone has to drive the pit home, sober.

I think if it went to referendum the speed limit reduction would pass. I can see that in residential neighborhoods but not in those long stretches of wasteland where the car dealerships and strip malls are. Residential areas I have absolutely zero issue with lower speed limits. Now all they have to do is raise the 100KPH highways to 110. The speed is closer to 120 anyway. I love the 70 MPH on some interstates. Now if you want to talk real driving go to Italy and drive L'Autosrada or Germany's Autobahn. Nothing like doing 135 and a Ferrari flies by like you are standing still. I don't know if it the same as it was in the 90's, it has been a while since being in those places.

Good thread. Lew I'm glad you mentioned this. My wife was away for a conference last week and I was telling her about reading this earlier today and she pulled out her bill. Sure enough TIFF fee plus HST. There is another fee there with strange code for $9.99 plus HST. She had the nerve to tell me it was for the Disney movie Frozen, yea right.

The first road trip this past spring, very first hook up. We pull out of the driveway make a right, make a left travel straight and I hear BOOM,BANG scrape. The receiver came of the ball and hammered my 3 year old Silverados tailgate. The tailgate is done for. It hit right at the crimped seam at the bottom. My body shop guy told me there is a slim chance he can get the seam straitened out right. I am told no way that can happen, I know it was on 100% as the lock went on. I guess it can happen right Ohio, I am still baffled how this happened. It's not like it happened after the first turn I was driving for a few klics and made a few 90 degree turns. Now I take 15 seconds and put the wheel down and crank out until the truck rises. I drove a 89 GMC beater for 5 years and never scratched it. Everytiume I see it I want to cry, this is the first vehicle I ever bought new, 44 years driving, with a license.

I have 3 BBQ's. 1 natural gas that is on the lakeside deck that I have to move in the winter or it will blow away in the wind, the only thing that has stopped it was the hose was still attached. A propane BBQ I am supposed to use in the winter but can't. I went to take the brand new Merry Christmas cover off just Sunday. It has tightened so much since I put it on the only way I will get it off is with a good knife and the 3rd is an old gas unit I laid a metal backing dish (that my wife can not figure out how it disappeared) to in to hold charcoal. Too late Sunday to get the coals going but it is the best really for a real BBQ, gas is really baking not BBQing. Another word that doesn't really exist. edit, I wonder how my wife would feel if I bought her a shower curtain for Christmas?

I know that's a word wormdunker because I used it. Sometimes when I come up with these I ask myself " is that really a word?" if spellcheck doesn't highlight it I figure it must be OK. travelable , see no spellcheck highlight, try it. Sometimes I just leave it in to see if you will catch it.

Manwich! Fang come on man Manwich!????? Fresh crushed tomatos, even canned but no Manwich!! Send me some and I'll tell you what I think, the proof is in the taste test. Actually I have been known to cheat. We were up north on a trip and I'm all prepped for my Blast Furnace chile. What do I forget? All my spices, everything, no home grown chiles, no home grown Habanero's no chile powder, no cayenne, no smoked Hungarian hot Paprika. All I have is 3 packages of hot Taco mix for Tacos latter in the week. I put in 1 package and keep my fingers crossed, 2 are better. Now I cheat sometimes, might have to try the Manwich, never had a Manwich in my life, might try one but lets keep it a secret between us. That sounds like a pretty good call bowslayer on the score. It has been a long time since a non QB has won MVP. And if Seattle puts up that many points without Russell Wilson not making a significant contribution is a longshot. The Beast will have to score 4 on the ground and rip off at least 2 runs of over 30 yards and he gets to go to Disney World. I can't wait for that speech think the last MVP of the Super Bowl that was a back was Marcus Allen with the Raiders.

Kudos to Fishlogic as well as you M2B. And he can cook up a storm too.

That's the way to do it. Now lets see some of the " Fishing With Jack Show ". I enjoy his videos more than anyone on TV, maybe except Red Fisher.

There is an old neighborhood in the North end of Hamilton where they have lowered the speed limit from 50K to 30K 2 or 3 years ago. It has the highest density of school aged children in the city and the most number of grade schools per square kilometer as well. It abuts the north border of the dense downtown area. It is or was a working class neighborhood for over 100 years with a mix of several different ethnic backgrounds, originally of mostly those of Italian and Irish decent Steel, Dock and Construction workers as well as the bootleg capital of Canada. This is where Rocco Perri went for a walk after dinner and never made it back for Cannoli. Transplanted Torontonians have been buying up single family dwellings here for pennies on the dollar compared with any GTA housing prices. That's for another thread. It felt strange feeling like you are crawling through the neighborhood. Going slower I couldn't believe the number of kids I see now. I guess I didn't notice them doing 50.Where exactly are you going to get to any faster in a highly densely populated neighborhood? I heard today from some Mac Prof that for every 10K the speed limit is raised the likelihood of a car vs. pedestrian/cyclist fatality rises something like 30%. I heard a few stories of the neighborhood taking personal care for those speeding through the neighborhood before the speed limit was lowered. The likely hood of a driver caught going 20 KPH over the old speed limit the drivers fatality rate rose to 100%, this is the North end of Hamilton not Rosedale. Like I always say hurry up and stop. Don't you just hate when you plan on going on a fishing trip and a trip to rehab is the next trip planned?

I also posted somewhere that I would take a drive to check out some spots where a machine could make it out. At the end of Stoney Creek at the south end of the Selkirk Townline is about the only spot I saw today that didn't have mountain ranges along the shore. As far as fish there???????? I will report back if I see a few good travelable spots. There are plenty of spots travelable out of St. Williams as the operators huts are out

Sorry guys quote feature still not working even with new today laptop. Mike Borger, I am a fan of the game not the NFL. The league wants me to hurl chunks. Just rule making beurocrats (sic) that think they need to save the world and the game. They constantly think it's broken when it's not. The best recipe for Prime Rib I have ever had is from irecipes.com called Restaurant cut. Dry rub with flour and herbs, just great. Mr. G, I watched the video and that sure looks like a winner. Now if it was an entire deboned piglet that is splayed and rubbed with a pesto of fresh herbs like fennel, basil, rosemary, parsley , dry oregano, fresh garlic and a few I don't remember that is made into a pesto and rubbed all inside then rolled and tied with a bouquet of sprigs of those herbs as a bed and baked for hours in the same manner is an ancient Roman dish that is called Porcetta. It can be served warm or cold. If anyone has been to one of those huge Italian stags most likely Porcetta was served as an appetizer and at mid night usually. I know that there are bakeries in Hamilton that will do one or more for you in their ovens. You can bring them the dressed piglet or they will do the entire job. Same idea as Chef Mikes shoulder. His I like because I can do it myself in the kitchen or on the BBQ without doing an entire piglet. I personally like it hot, not cold. I don't like cold lard like fat but love hot crispy skin and oily fat. Too bad I shouldn't eat it. I guess a slice won't kill me.

Doug you kill me! Good one.

I am ordering you, actually just suggesting, that we can all wait until you get back to see your fishing videos. Getting them a bit at a time will torture most of us as we of course are freezing our Jack travtails off here. I just got back from a too short trip myself and seeing what I'm missing is pure torture. There has to be some OFC rule about cruel and unusual punishment, at least there should be. Go have a great time and spend that oh so valuable family time which is the most important thing you can do down there. For every minute you are putting a video together is a minute you can not spend with your family one day.

M2B, care to the skinny on the fry bread? I have that Diabetes thing and have 2 slices of bread a week, maybe 3 if I'm letting loose. I've had most every bread ever baked one time or another. Haven't tried the fry bread though. Maybe once years ago at a 6 Nations Pow Wow, I think 20 years ago. Please share the recipe with us. Actually sounds healthy if it has a slow Glycemic response. The higher the protein usually the lower the response which is very good for us. I had real Coq au vin made with Rooster by a French born neighbor on the Ottawa River way back when, it was great, actually closer to fantastique. Moosebunk, in Italian cooking your dish is known as "Bruscetta con forage et pomodoro dolce "
