  1. Yes M2B2 on my to get list tomorrow.
  2. Yet another electronic gadget we need, a battery operated CO detector too?
  3. New York State regulations for Bass are from Dec. 1st to the 3rd Saturday in June as catch and release only and only artificial lures. Open season 3rd Saturday in June until November 30th. Can not keep any fish under 12".
  4. Indeed both species of Bass show on page 23 of the 2015 regs opened all year. Slot size is any fish under 35cm or under 13.8". Bass is catch and release only in NY until sometime in June when there are catch limits. Since I fish for Bass on a bi annual trip there I should know all the regs. exactly shouldn't I?
  5. Man that kid is getting bigger and bigger every time we see him. He is basically growing up before our eyes. Seen the movie "Boy Hood" yet? What a great set up. I'm always leery when I hear about guys fishing out of a vehicle because of CO levels. But the car was well ventilated and the ice is thick enough for the exhaust and weight.
  6. The health issue is simply having the kids dirty feet on the counter, the Safety aspect is a slip, trip and fall on the slippery ceramic floor covered in who knows what. All commercial kitchens in Ontario must have a floor surface that is constructed of a fire retardant and easily cleaned. I can know without looking that that floor is ceramic. I can only read so many YouTube comments, full of trollers who's comments are only there to inflame. I'm with Ketchinany. Only 2 places I will get Pizza and both are owned by family members.
  7. I noticed the ear piercing has terminal tackle going to that jig head. I was taught at an early age to tie directly to the jighead. But that would be you daughters jig, no? Maybe Dad is giving himself an advantage???
  8. I will ice for no more than 5 minutes every 4 hours. I've know guys that have actually gotten frost bite using ice from the freezer. Use medicinal frozen peas or corn.
  9. I as well was diagnosed with Tennis elbow. I told my Dr. I haven't played tennis in years, he said "OK Fishing elbow then." So I asked him for a RX for a downrigger. But seriously baby it for a few weeks. I didn't and 25 years latter it still hurts under load. It hurts most swinging a framing hammer and golfing. I can not troll using my right arm to this day. ICE= ICE/COMPRESSION/ELEVATION Put it in a sling after you have iced it and wrapped it in a 6 inch Ace bandage. If not that inflammation may act up for the rest of your life.
  10. Yes Oka, I forgot that one, that was big. Land for Mulroney's private golf course. Again off topic but I was told recently a well known businessman based out of one of the local reservations, we have two here Six Nations and Oneida, recently bought a local course with 3 nines. Ironic. My family on the American side as well as my paternal grand father were very "connected" as they say. Gambino's from NYC and the Montreal faction of the Bonnanno family of New York as well. And I put in 30 years as a Capo in the Stelco crime family. Tony Soprano was a TV character, the Bing actually exists, actually they popped up all over the place after the show became a hit. If I gave you my last name and you Googled it I bet you guys wouldn't bust my Corleones as much. Come to think of it I would be 1 degree of separation from that idiot Johnny Boy Gotti.
  11. Man you guys make me feel really old. When I was 20 I took a computer course before the PC was invented. We actually had to change tapes and computer cards on a IBM computer that took up a few thousand square feet. RAM was non existent compared to today. I wish I could remember what the memory was. In 79 when we were building the plant at Nanticoke the Superintendent that was a WW2 vet was showing the house size "new" computer that monitored a few systems. A grad from Electronic engineering told him his Texas Instruments calculator could do the same thing as this massive piece of hardware. To prove it the young engineer wired it to the HP system and showed him it did work. For the next entire month the boss reamed our computer guys and questioned them as to why we just spent a few million $. Tip to young engineers, don't show your boss up in public.
  12. Rick, isn't watching them the neatest thing to see? Sometimes they will hit a leaf floating by and sometimes they will ignore it. Those things can move and move fast. They will head butt carp and Gar 5 feet off the bed and be back in a few seconds. I also notice they leave the beds to feed (I will not give the time they do here). They have to feed sometimes. Feeding time they are really aggressive.
  13. Eat a Bass!!! Blasphemy I say, blasphemy. I might eat one if it is obviously going to die, I'd most likely give it away.. Otherwise it would be like eating the family pet Rabbit. I have said here before that we can sit on the deck and watch the Bass spawn and then guard the beds. When we first bought the place I would eat a few but once I realized they spawn right here I can't bring myself to eat any Bass now. Spending 5K on Carp gear is no more crazy than spending 50K on a fishing boat and not keeping any for the table, is it? Even crazier is spending over 30 grand on a used cruiser that never leaves it's slip because of the cost of fuel. An old saying was " If you have to ask how many miles per gallon a Cadillac gets you can't afford one."
  14. Beans there are a few recipes that use Soda water with egg for the wet mix. Canuck2fan, I am always looking to prolong my glycemic response time for foods. I forgot about rice flour. It has to be better than white glue flour. Thanks.
  15. Adam, when I was interested in streaming content these guys really educated me. Especially BillM and Garret. The only thing I can say about this is that I would never share TV Satellite or Internet service. I have heard all the complaints from "he doesn't pay in time" to " I didn't download that movie" . I have never heard that sharing works in the long run.
  16. It's Perch on Erie after ice out until the beginning of July. Channel Cats from ice out until water temps hit around 50. Then Pike in upstate NY in May for 3 days. Then Walleye in the Grand River until the 3rd Saturday in June when it's Bass time. Then chase the Walleye as they migrate east to west on Erie. A few Rainbows thrown in as a bonus. Fall we head to 30 to 50 feet of water and try and coax a big Mama Smallmouth to bite. It's quite common to hit the 7 pound mark and may be lucky enough to get beyond 8lbs. My brother in law from Mt. Uniak N.S. calls bass garbage fish. ??????
  17. This thread seems to be taking a wrong turn. No one is saying all Aboriginal Natives on 6 Nations is a thief or an Ironworker. That's like saying I am from 100% Italian DNA so I must be in the Mafia. There is hard data to suggest that there is a criminal element that hides on the reserve behind the threat of civil unrest. Things come in threes, Iperwash, Caledonia, no one wants another.
  18. Brodetto or seafood chowder translated to English. I will substitute Pickerel or Pike instead of the Whiting and Skate. Saute onion and garlic with hot pepper flakes to taste add Little Neck clams add Calamari rings add Crab legs chopped in thirds add crushed Plum Tomatoes simmer for 2 hours add Pike or Pickeral or both, simmer until fish is flakey Can be served on Spagettini or traditionally served on Pollenta. Or in a bowl with plenty of crusty bread. O
  19. Garret, we live in Haldimand too. My wife works near The Douglas Creek Estates on Argyle, actually too close. No one knows what really was happening here or can understand what it felt like unless they lived in Haldimand, even more so if they lived south of the river or close by the DCE. I gave my Mom the book Christine Blanchford wrote about DCE to read, she simply refused to believe a word of it. She said that could never happen in Canada. The co worker of my wife had he almost new truck stolen from the parking lot of the Shoppers in Caledonia in broad daylight. The OPP looked at the very good security video. They told her point blank they are fairly sure they know exactly where the truck is and no local judge will ever give them a court order to search the property. Even if they turned over the case to the Six Nations police. They basically told her not to dwell on it, she will never see her truck again.
  20. Back in the 70's 3 men, the father, the son and son in law all lost their lives on a calm day on Nipissing. They were neighbors of my in-laws. They had bought a cottage west of the place they had sold. The idea was to load the swimming raft with furniture and boxes tie it all down and tow it with a cedar strip with a 15 horse to the new place around the point and across a bay. It would have saved hours of work if it worked out , it did not. They loaded for the last trip and the folks on land left by car to meet them at the dock. The friends and family on land waited but the boat never showed up. Someone went back to the cottage hoping to find the boat and raft there presuming that they may have backtracked if there was a problem. A half hour went by when the OPP and an EMS bus showed up. Somehow the boat and raft capsized. All 3 men drowned. To this day there is no definitive answer for the family as no one witnessed it. Loosing 3 men from the same family on the same afternoon must be beyond tragic. There many lessons to be learned here.
  21. I said thieves are not only dumb but stupid too. There is a local sheeny man (not a thief) that drives many K's to root through recycle boxes for empty booze bottles and any length of wire. He will strip wire and when he has enough for hours to get 5 bucks of copper. I tried to explain to him that he spends more on fuel than the meager money he comes out of The Beer Store or scrap yard with. He says he would be staring at 4 walls otherwise, he is 100% right. Garret said " Binbrook, six nations" Yes most likely unfortunately. A friend that lives in Caledonia has seen his premiums rise dramatically since the fiasco there started.
  22. The way I look at the fried food thing is this. The great benefits of eating that oh so good for you fish far out weighs the bad of frying it in bread crumbs or flour based coating. So I'll call it a wash. That way I can have that double Big Mac as long as I eat a Yogurt in the morning and try and burn 1000 calories during that day.
  23. Have to mention our monthly fishfry of last summers perch and Pickerel I used crunched up cheezy Ritz crackers as coating and it turned out really well. We cooked up about 2 pounds of rather large Pickerel cheeks and that was a very special treat. I had a cheek burger with a slice of cheddar and a dollop of Tarter to die for.
  24. Not a bad ending to a bad story Musky+Specks Irish, that would one dumb criminal to tow a boat down a heavily traveled highway in winter. There are many back roads from Binbrook. Talk about stopping a "suspicious vehicle". That would be more suspicious than a truck driving down a road and deemed to be "suspicious". What is and is not suspicious will be something we may be talking about soon considering Harpers new legislation giving authorities a broader range and a more liberal definition to stop anyone anytime because they look "suspicious." As I said earlier criminals can be dumb and stupid. Like a successful drug dealer driving around in a inconspicuous Red Ferrari or Lambo rather than a 7 year old Volvo.
