nice panfish,gotta love them.Just be happy you can get some tasty morsels like those close to home.

My dad turns 92 in february and has been bugging me to take him icefishing.In order to take him,i need good weather,good walking conditions on the ice and a spot preferably not too far from home.Today was the day.We headed out midmorning to our spot and fishing to say the least was slow.We got a few jumbo perch and then just before we were leaving dad hooked into this pike.It weighed in about 8.25 lbs,a decent fish.

Went out this morning for a little bit of perch fishing and ended up with this beauty.Was caught on 4lb test and a small shad body jig.

stayed close to home today because of the projected weather and got into a few silvers.Looks like it may be a good year if this mild weather keeps up!The long range forecast doesn't look too good for ice-making.sorry for the picture quality,hard to take pictures by yourself!

where I was yesterday a car drove out on 5 inches on ice and was coming close to me.I yelled at him to stay away and then he asked me how thick it was. DUH! EVERYBODY ELSE WAS TELLING HIM TO GET OFF THE ICE!

I am also in the same situation.I was told to try Rocky's which is in Orillia. Have dealt with Aikman's in the past with no problem.Need two bail arms as they snapped on each reel.

would take steelhead over whitefish any day.the way winter is going you may see a lot more of these!

i use it all the time in the summer when i go to peterborough or around beaverton area as these places are always cheaper than than oshawa and the GTA.Never noticed any bogus prices and it will tell you how long ago the price was posted and you know how fast the prices change especially before a weekend in the summer or a holiday!

is that the one off 36,before you get into bobcaygeon.Is he open in the winter?

steelhead fishing is never closed out east of pickering it is open all year round and can be deadly in the winter months!

call me when there is 6 inches of good ice,that's my comfort zone,after all they are only panfish!

Right now the water is very cold and may be frozen on eastern tribs meaning that most of the fish are back in the lake.It is different than October and November when the water was a little warmer.A good warm-up or a warm rain will bring some fish in again.It may be different up north or stateside as they are larger streams.

You know now Steve,I may have to start keeping more fish now and I was flying solo.Can't make up my mind which direction to go in the morning,east or back up to Lake Simcoe.Ron was it really worth it? I hope you didn't do it at Cobourg harbour!

Just happened to find a nice bunch of chunky perch today on Lake Simcoe.Action was non-stop for 3 hours with very few small fish.It was a fun day and probably the start of a couple more weeks of these before the freeze-up.Brought 17 home for dinner.

Heading out shortly to do some shore fishing for jumbos.Still a while before hardwater and there is still some good opportunities out there!

monday and tuesday were very good even though i could only fish part days.If you were in the same area as I was on the other side above the trees.And you those fish went berserk!

You lads aren't very optimistic are you! Dropped my wife off at work and a local trib runs close to there,well yesterday it was fairly high and dirty,but today it was cleared up and very fishable.By tomorrow it will be too clear except in the lower area down by the lake.Don't feel like fighting crowds anyway,so I will just go slay some jumbo perch!

Went to show number 3 at the molson amphitheatre laast night to see def leppard and heart.Heart was first and played all of their favourites with a couple of new tunes and some led zeppelin to boot.Def leppard I have never seen and they did not disappoint with awesome lighting and video screens.Great guitar solos and amazing vocals from their lead singer. One of the better shows I have seen yet.One more to come at the amp in September!

Went to the Molson Amphitheatre on Tuesday to see foreigner and journey. Foreigner stole the show playing all their favourite tunes and the new singer sounded amazing.Journey was so so and I don't really know why they were the headliners.They also have a new singer and he sounded pretty good but their song selection had a lot of songs I wasn't familiar with. The place was totally packed.
