  1. Who said you would want to eat these fish anyway! Yum Yum
  2. Hopefully some walleye and crappie on Stony lake with my dad. Probably staying over Saturday night at the trailer and also fishing somewhere Sunday. I have been off all week fishing with my wife for Simcoe perch and Kawartha crappies since last Saturday with the exception of Wednesday. It was a very good week with lots of good fish everyday! I still haven't had enough.
  3. I have three different Browning six rivers rods from Bass pro shops that were not that pricey. I have a 91/2 and 101/2 footer that were on sale this summer for 49.99 US and a 13 footer I purchased in the Toronto store for 119. These rods are awesome for their price range. They are also good for panfish-crappie and perch fishing, that is the two smaller models.
  4. I once got my arm caught in a machine at work and had a pin and a metal plate put in my right wrist. I was out steelhead fishing two weeks later and was just able to hold my rod to play a fish as the cast was not covering my hand. I went through quite a bit of pain but the time off work was worth it for the amount of fishing that I was able to do. Don't let it get in the way and enjoy the time off!
  5. We caught the crappies on just about eveything we tried. Small white twister tails, white, chartreuse and yellow tube jigs and various colours of finesse shad bodies and minnows. I found the bigger the bait the better the fish. We were fishing in 4-5 ft of water with a dark bottom.
  6. Got out this weekend to the Kawarthas for crappie. Went out Saturday with my Dad who is 88. We went out to our prime spot and not a boat in sight. First cast produced a decent crappie. Down goes the anchor and from 830am until 200pm we did not have to move. The first couple of hours your float wouldn't go a few inches and down it would go. Most of the fish were in the 8-10 inch range with a few 11-13 inchers in there for good measure. At one point my jig was hanging over the water when I was doing something and a fish came up to the surface and inhaled it. This was probably the most crappie I have ever caught in a single outing. We lost count but I would figure 300 or more between the two of us. Sunday morning I went back there by myself and there were three boats on the spot and fishing was very spotty with a few fish here and there and mostly small ones. Moved around a bit and about 1230pm was almost ready to give up when I found a little cove and it was full of slab sized crappies with a lot of 12-14 inch fish. 60 crappie later and it is 430pm and finally they are slowing down and I am finally able to drag myself away from this honey hole.
  7. You guys have to broaden out your fishing. Lake Simcoe is just starting to heat up for perch and crappie andthe Kawarthas will follow after the 26th of April. YOU CAN EVEN USE YOUR LONG RODS AND FLOATS. For those who have kids get them out and let them enjoy this fine fishing. I have a 13 year old daughter and a wife who enjoy this type of fishing and they each use a fairly long rod.
  8. In case it is not known this is Graham Creek in Newcastle and there is a alocal idiot that thinks he can control this water and will even call the cops or co on you. He had friend of mine charged with trespassing there. He does not own the water but because he knows someone from there he thinks he does!
  9. Most of the fish are gone up especially after all the runoff last week and today's rain. Beach fishing is generally better in February and most of March until the creek waters start to warm up!
  10. Borax powder sprinkled on the skein eggs after they are separated from the skein which can be a tedious job. They have their own sweet smell. They really work on fresh run fish. They haven't failed me yet this spring.
  11. Was at the Ganny 7 days straight from Easter Sunday until the following Saturday and got a lot of fish there every afternoon. If you have a good arsenal of flies, jigs, tubes or roe you will get your share of fish. I got most of my fish on roe after work from 400pm until dark and no it is no more crowded than anywhere else!
  12. Hi I am a friend of crappieperchunter and have fished rainbows for over 30 years and if you want a foolproof way to do your roe send me a pm. Ps Steve and I had a decent afternoon out where you were fishing on the weekend and they were hitting roe pretty good!
  13. My trailer is located at Percy Littles just across from Pine Vista Resort. I have been up about 4 times this year so far and have been finding some crappie 12-14 inches with also quite a few small ones. we have been spending so much time crappy fishing that we have not had time to try for walleye. From what I seen this year there are not too many walleyes being caught. Stay away from cold fronts and fish on deep weedlines. They should be starting to turn on soon. Will be up there on and off if you want to pm me please feel free.
  14. Hi I am new to this board and I do not agree to pictures or reporting of out of season fish. The reason for this is there are too many people doing this on purpose especially for bass.
