  1. Thanks a lot guys. Have a great day everyone.
  2. WOW! You're going professional on us! Those are great shots. I'm impressed!
  3. And here's my honest answer... Im wondering what kinda fishing you expect when you hire a guide... When I hire a guide, I don't expect the fishing to change. Alone or with a guide the fishing will be the same. The experience will be different. How many fish does it take to keep you happy... I really don't think that folks' degree of happiness is measured in numbers of fish. I'm asking this because I'm gunna be getting into guiding and I wanna know how close I am to being good enough... The numbers of fish the YOU have caught have no bearing on how good a guide you are. Prospective clients probably don't care how many fish YOU caught. So basically... My walleye average size is about 3 pounds Prospective out of town clients don't know what the average walleye weighs in Lake St Francis so it's irrelevant. And musky average is 38-40 inches I believe the smallest legal fish in your zone is 48" And carp average is 17-20 pounds I don't know about carp but you probably won't need a Ranger to catch them. So if you were to hire me for one of these fish... How many would satisfy you? Again, it really has nothing to do with numbers of fish. And how many to get you to come back? If you were a real loudmouthed butthole but you managed to get a client a limit of really nice walleye...do you think he'd book with you again? No, I don't think so Mike, I'm being honest here. You may very well be an excellent guide but you'll never succeed by simply saying what you've caught. Take some folks fishing....put THEM onto fish and catching a fish then passing the rod off to a client might be a little dicey to a CO. Take a run at it Mike and good luck to you.
  4. Would you prefer doing business with a manufacturer who's still in business but doesn't honour its waranties?
  5. Assuming you have you two 12 volt batteries connected in series, with black, red and white wires coming from the trolling motor, the black goes to battery #1 negative. The red goes to battery #2 positive and the white is your 24 volt leg which goes to battery #1 positive.

    Bass

Nice fish and FYI, so far, our panel of expert judges have put that fine specimen at 3.9071 lbs. You just can't get more accurate than that. Talk about electronic scales...
  7. I hope the DO come back full tilt. That pictured tiller is an excellent fishing boat.
  8. Be prepared to fish a LOT LESS than you do today and that's a fact.
  9. COOL!
  10. Well there you go, Lew. Abu 7000's are all 4.1:1 reels except the 7000i which is a 5.3:1

    Report

Another super report, Tyler. Well done!
  12. I don't for one minute doubt the quality of the Revo Inshore. The problem is not the quality it's the gear ratio. It's less of a problem if you're trolling 7' to 12' behind the boat. But if you're casting or trolling farther back, maximun gear ratios should be 5:1. 4:7 is great. Anything higher than 5:1 and you'll tire yourself out and put undue strain on the reel. I'm not talking bulldogs here. Those types of baits are heavy but have little resistance so you could probably handle them with a small spinning reel. Baits like stalkers, double 10's etc... and in fact most muskie baits create an immense amount of drag so you need the low gearing. With large baits you'll be disappointed with anything higher than 5:0. But hey, that's just my opinion.
  13. Is there a specific reason why you want to buy them on the way? You can buy them anywhere you want right now and keep them cool. They'll last for months. I'll often pick or buy what I think I'll need for the season, keep them in a fridge and take out what I need for an outing. I check them every week or so to see if they need water. If I feel particularly generous/ambitious, I'll spread some spent coffee grounds over them to giv'em some spunk.
  14. Ding Ding Ding! We have a winner!
  15. You can buy them here: http://tamiron.com/main/ Don't know of any tackle shops.
  16. ??? This logic is underwhelming.
  17. Future wife repellents for sure.
  18. Changing type of leader will not encourage pike to strike. Use what you're comfortable with. Pike will hit a 6 ounce bottom bouncer tied to anchor line. I use fluoro leaders 50lb and up....not because they are less visible but because they are more convenient to tie and are available in a larger range of strengths.
  19. I hear your anticipation. Have a great trip Terry. Hope you don't get mechanical failure on your camera.
  20. A fully charged group 27 battery should be ok unless you're battling a headwind all day or your boat is loaded heavy.
  21. No problems at all. I was just trying to imagine the setup and wondering if there was any difference to the way it could be mounted. I don't see any problem with it whatsoever. Don't forget to fuse the red wire as close to the battery as possible....40 amp should do the trick.
  22. Mount it so that the head is toward the port bow and the prop is off the starboard front. Make sure that once deployed, the shaft is no closer that an inch from the rub rail. Bolt the whole thing down using substantial washers on the underside. Your red/green navigational light will need to be raised for visibility to others.
  23. If you leave it straight out the stem like that it will always be in the way when you're not using it.
  24. Timber yes, not too many of those left in Canada....if any.
