I am assuming you will be travelling through Dryden and Kenora on your way to Minaki. Not to sure on the area up that way.

There is one lake about a 40 minute drive east of Fort Frances that Has been stocked with splake and was stocked years ago with speckles. The lake is only about 1/2 mile of the highway down a well maintained logging road. Possible to catch from shore but a canoe or small skiff will get you around. The lake is only about a mile long and a mile wide. I don't know of any streams in the area for trout. I usually go after lakers if I am going for trout. With the many logging roads in the area you can get to a lot of small lakes without 4x4 if you are prepared to walk a short distance into them

Up here in the northwest we have a few lakes that were getting hit pretty hard not only from sportfishing but also from the commercial side as well. Rainy Lake being a prime example. I don't remember the year they implemented there slot rule for walleye but I think it was about ten years ago or so. Ten years ago you had to fish all day to get a limit of four decent eaters. By eaters I am talking the 15-18" walleye. The slot size that was put into place is walleye between 13.8" and 17.7" can be kept as well as one over 27.5" with a four fish total. Now you can go out there and you may have to fish all day to get your four fish to eat because everything is over the 17.7" max. Tons of 20-25" fish. Slot size works plain and simple. Just my two cents....

Gary I know how you feel. About five years ago I had to get opened up beacause of a blockage. I was in the hospital for four days after the operation. Two weeks later I was in moose camp with my buddies. It was a great I never had to lift a hand to help get our animals out. Hope you get well soon.

I think that you can be cheated in the online poker sites but it is usually done by other players. You really have to pay attention to who is at your table. Whose to say the five other guys at your table are not all in the same room somewhere watching each others screens. When they see that one of them has the nuts the others drop out so that you can lose your shirt. Thats just my take on it. So who wants to go fishing?
