I only use fluorocarbon as a leader on my Dispy Divers and my home made worm harness I use on Lake Erie. I use to use 12# mono for my worm harnesses but they kept getting chewed up while dragging on the bottom of Erie filled with Zebra Mussels...so I started to tie the harnesses with 20# fluorocarbon and the results have been very good.....it takes the harsh environment of the rough lake floor without giving up bites.

My first job on the RR was cleaning and repairing caboose stoves...those oil stoves put off a LOT of heat when properly maintained. They were used until the railroads took the caboose off the trains....we even use to handle the CP and CN cabs from time to time...they were equipped with cooking pots and pans, etc.... Edited to add: I just started a fire in our living room wood stove....starting to get toasting in here....

We have a HUGE flea market that runs every weekend but I'm not sure if it open during the winter time....but it's a HUGE parking lot that private vendors come from all over to set up and sell their junk....I find great veggies there every fall....but also other stuff...like a deck umbrella for $10, etc......it's only 1 mile east of the Galleria Mall thruway exit, right on Walden Ave (same as the mall)......if your really interested, I will check it out this weekend to see if their setting up in the winter months...One guy sets up HUNDREDS of tires every weekend to sell....that has to be a LOT of work... There is also a HUGE indoor flea market building at the end of the parking lot....I usually don't go inside but they also have a lot of junk for sale...but these are permanent vendors set up in there. So it's about 10 minutes past the Peace Bridge in Cheektowaga, NY. Google this address.....2480 Walden Avenue, Cheektowaga, NY Bob

Do you remember my very first post....# 19 in this thread....I said #1 rule is "always get a police report....otherwise things get turned around against you....a police report is a official record that everyone has to accept, including insurance companies"....sounds like pretty good advice now doesn't it....but that was 2 days ago and now it's just so so advice....as time passes the guilty get better at their lies.....I'm no Police Officer....however, I would say if called they will just be clerks with guns at this point and time...take a report from you and MAYBE 'him' and that's it.....it's now up to you to bull your way to justice....nice guys finish last and you seem like a nice kid. Good Luck, Bob

You're probably right.......done here labor is about $65 per hour...and figuring parts plus the cost of the service call (mileage)....easily over a hundy here.

I agree with having a pro do the torsion bar spring but getting someone to do this for under a $100 is a pipe dream IMHO....

ENOUGH....I CAN'T take it anymore....my boat is in storage and it's suppose to be hunting season. -
I replaced one on my dad's garage MANY years ago....to be honest I thought it was quite easy to do...however I was much younger and my shoulders were in pretty good shape way back then....but are we all talking about the same thing here.... The older garage door systems used a large spring on each of the door to help OPEN the garage door...once the door is open the springs come to rest and do basically nothing....HOWEVER, if that door starts to come down without said springs, it can and will kill you depending on what the door is made of and how heavy it is....old wood doors are VERY heavy and dangerous... fibreglass doors are very light... Now if we are talking about the newer garage door systems "one spring" built above the door on the header....well, I don't have any experience with that system but now have it on my garage door....after looking at it, I would recommend a experience professional installer to tackle that job...SAFETY FIRST. One last thing Robin.....using your power garage door opener without the spring WILL destroy said opener...now you will need a new garage opener and still need to replace the spring(s).....as the old commercial said "Pay me now or PAY me later"...
