  1. Hometown, read this page over 10 times and you'll be more than ready! http://boating.ncf.ca/buy-usa.html As Wayne said, I imported a Lund and didn't have any issues
  2. Reminds me of that black dog that everyone swerves to avoid and ends up making an insurance claim....a very well travelled dog that shows up across the country
  3. I'll pay $2000 for the week if you fly the amphib down to London and pick me up!
  4. Might be some info here: http://www.wettinc.ca/
  5. He's right...there is no exclusion for stupidity
  6. Hi everyone, Looking to get back into rigging, trolling on bigger water....just curious on what everyone's opinion is of the Striper line of boats. I'm looking around the 20-21ft. range for various reasons and thought they looked appealing. Any year or history to avoid or any comparables? New is out of the price range so thought a good used might do. Thanks!
  7. Pam's recipe is the ticket if ingredients are on hand, if not Coca-Cola does help in a pinch...at least it did on my Golden Retriever late one Sunday night. (was recommended by a vet for emergency situations, then followed up with that recipe next night)
  8. Current issue of Ontario Out of Doors showed a new waterproof digital that looked perfect for fishing pics...I'll have a look later today and let you know the make and model.
  9. Someone has hi-jacked Marc's username...there is no way he posted that.
  10. Erie is the cleanest of all the Great Lakes if that helps!
  11. Check here for a few reports: http://www.longpoint.on.ca/forum/forum.asp?FORUM_ID=2
  12. I imported a boat from Michigan several months ago and found this site very helpful: http://boating.ncf.ca/buy-usa.html Read the entire site several times as some steps are not necessary or have changed as outlined by some of the responses. It's a little bit of paperwork/legwork but well worth it in my case...if you have any specific questions feel free to shoot me a pm as I'd be happy to help where I can. It definitely does help when you are prepared.
  13. I'm a broker and there are some good replies and questions here! I can't/won't attempt to answer them all except to say the best advice was to at least give your current broker a shot at helping. There is a lot of competition out there right now and I think some companies are giving discounts for breathing The loyalty part may not help with the actual company but if you have a good working relationship with your broker it can go a long way when the "stuff" hits the fan. Any good broker realizes they work for you, not the insurance company. Feel free to pm me if you have any specific questions and I'll try to help as best I can.
  14. Find a broker who has AVIVA Elite available...best trailer package going!
  15. Thanks for the comments everyone...sure making us feel great here!!
  16. Thought I'd share our special father & son moment...we left the boat in the garage to throw a few spoons in the river at Grandpas house and hooked into this "monster" He did as well as a 2.5yr old can do to reel it in, with a little help from Dad . I've never seen a kid so excited until it came time to hang onto it for the photo op. and found it was "too slimy Dad" LOL! He was happy it swam away for us to catch another day. Pic quality is not great due to using a cell but you'll get the idea.
  17. Kevin, I had a 14ft aluminum with a 25hp Honda 4stroke on the back (heavy, heavy, heavy) and the performance difference after adding the hydrofoil was unbelievable! It got on plane faster, planed at slower speeds and didn't seem to lose much if any speed. I don't think you'd notice as much a difference on larger boats but this situation made me a believer. (no amount of trim was going to help)
  18. At this time you won't be asked to pay tax on the boat at Service Canada if purchased privately. (just make sure you when you go to the MTO you tell them you bought the trailer only and have a receipt for it alone) I have heard you may get a letter from the guvment a long ways down the road asking for tax $$ on the boat but many simply ignore it?!!?
  19. Hey Wayne, The battery compartment on my Pro-V is under the rod locker storage which is real solid but I get where you're coming from...the entire front half of my boat is storage and some of the compartments do flex quite a bit. NOW STOP IT!!! I barely have time to fish let alone keep up with all these cool modifications/ideas of yours!!
  20. NICE!! That is a fantastic idea for those hand line brackets..my "new to me" Lund came with a set and I didn't think they'd ever be used until now!
  21. Ahhh...kinda like anything North of the 407 is "way up North?"
