  1. Hi Lew, I've heard that as well. I not looking for performance improvements just more bow lift and less prop cavitation. I had to lift the motor another hole (now its on the 3 hole down) to get the cav plate 1/2" above the bottom of the hull which should get my cav plate just above the water when running. Currently I have to trim almost all the way just to get some bow lift. Talking to some guys in walleye central they say Yamaha props are stern lifting props and merc are bow lifting. Not sure if there is any truth to it, that's why II want to try one before dropping 500+ on a prop haha!
  2. I'm look'n to put a stainless on my 75 hp Yamaha this year. I've heard some shops will let you try a few to find the right one. Anybody know of such a place? Also, what's the average price for 16 & 17" ss prop. I'm think'n on a merc 3 blade SS with the flo torq lll hub kit. I'm just not sure what model to get.
  3. I have 2 field trial dogs (labs) very friendly, smart etc great all round dogs, that we train 3-4 times a week. PLEASE DO NOT BUY designer dogs most of these breeders don't have the first clue on why a dog should be breed. A dog should only be breed to improve the breed for instance when we breed a field trial dog its breed for talent, drive and personality not looks etc. We don't care if they're ugly HEHE! Only that they are healthy and have the previously mentions qualityies. Seriouly consider your lifestyle so many people buy a dog because it's cute, with no consideration to what this animal will need to be happy and healthy. All I can say is please seriously consider what breed and breeder you choose, it's a long term commitment!
  4. Hey pt good to hear :-) I'll do the same..Lew does the same and has no issues either.. I luv the fact that I don't have to fog this motor. Wish I could store the "Great ship mis-a-lot" in a heated garage. Great input SP thanx I'll look at the burts
  5. Lew full windshields are for old guys HAHAHA! Were fish'n together for sure next year :-) I luv the idea of the trim switch at the bow I am gonna rig that up for sure!
  6. Great input keep'r commin .. We're running a 75hp Yamaha, and don't really need a kicker but I like the idea of having an extra motor.. I really like the idea of a kicker but I'm still not decided because my dogs like to sit in the transom well and watch when were duck hunting. If I put a kicker I'll have to come up with another plan like cutting a door in the blind for the dog(s) to mark birds out of etc..
  7. So after my first season in my 18' Alaskan Tiller. I am still very much happy with this boat/motor combo. No buyers remorse Only thing I'm not happy with is I have 1/2 a tank of fuel I never got through DARN 4-strokes LOL! and I'm not sure whether I should drain it and refill or just top the tank up and add the storage additive. Anyways, I'm not done riggin her yet, a few of the things I would like to add this spring are: 1) Rod Holders possibly Cisco tracks (anybody with previous experience with these I'd love to hear about them) - i'm not a big fan of the plactic lund tracks. They do work well but have gotten loose since using them to hold my avery duck blind 2) Kicker motor (still deciding on HP and brand I've heard 4 stroke kickers shake a lot. I'd like a real smooth running/quite kicker motor) 3) Wave Wackers or some other brand 4) Another depthfinder so I can my move my Hummingbird 798 to the bow (this add on will probably be a 2014 add on LOL!) 5) Planner Board mast - not sure which brand to get 6) Remote Spotlight probably a golight I'm looking for opinions and experiences on manufactures for these kind of add ons. Any and all opinions welcome
  8. now that's a good look'n dog! Gotta luv the coco dogs, got one myself
  9. Starting to look promising... now they are calling for sub 1/2 meter waves.. so less than 2' .. SuperDad You have a PM
  10. Looks like the weekend may be shot Marine Weather
  11. Is there a big drop at the end of the ramp, that you need to worry about or is it fairly flat a long ways out?
  12. Hi Superdad, Just saw this post Awesome! thnx for the update.. Sooo 40-45KPH West Winds .. would that me 4'+ waves. I looked here Bath Weather Forcast I always have launched at the ferry so I'm not sure about launching at Finkles.. are 20+km winds dangerous in the bath area for an 18' lund alaskan and would I be able to safetly get the boat back on the trailer without damaging it? I'd really like to fish this Saturday but if I can't I can't
  13. Thnx guys for the help my fingers are crossed!
  14. I'm not worried about water conditions just ice. I'm in an 18' Lund Alaskan she'd have to get pretty bad for me not to get back to ramp safely :-)
  15. Hi Steve, thanks for the info Do you mean the ramp will be froze up probably or that the ferry isn't running? Sorry.. I can be a little slow at times LOL!
  16. So I have to go out to Kingston on Jan 4th weekend... Do I have any chance of getting my new boat out 1 more time.. I'd love to do some duck hunting out on quinte but I have no time to scout so hopefully I can get one more walleye trip in before I put her away for the winter. I normally launch on @ the Glenora ferry. What do you think my chances?
  17. My wife's Suzuki Grand Vitara doesn't even get 10/100 it averages between 13-15 and it's a 6cyl. I didn't even make it to kingston towing my boat on 1 tank of gas, and i drive like a granny HAHAHA!
  18. "And speaking of GM pickups, my dad bought a new one in 1961 and payed $1800" Why did you have to say that lew.... just rub'n salt in my wound HAHAH!
  19. Moosebunk, they don't make'm like that anymore. I bet if you beat a new one like that it wouldn't make 100,000 K let alone 200,000+ It was a hard descision to give my old girl, but when a truck dies infront of a wreckers. I do believe it was trying to tell me something HAHA! I like'm to Lew But after driv'n down to Georgia in a F-150 Lariat.. I was sold. Mind you everything is more comfortable to drive long distance than an old worn out pick up bench seat HAHA! I got to drive a GMC 3500 down south, just out to a field and let me tell you. I"m 6' and felt small it in HAHA! Those things are HUGE!
  20. Hey Irishfield, Ford 5.0 Coyote engine is that a nickname or a model name? Sorry, I've not paid very close attention to what is out right now as I always had old vehicle, my last truck was a 90' Single Cab 5-speed Chevy with a 350, which was recently put down. So now I'm looking at a new truck this winter. RIP Blue beast, I miss you hahaha!
  21. Hey Lew, nothing against your BnL but if you get a new truck every 2 years.. I'd bet every manufacture would seem good LOL! It's after 100,000 km where a vehicles reliablity starts to shine or burn hehehe! I'm starting the shopping process now, and was thinking of a ford as well. I just like the trucks, but I'm not against GM either.
  22. I think you could open your gate and just guide it out..without stressing it out by having your dog bark at it. I would enjoy the chance to actually see some wild life other coons, coyotes and skunks in the big smoke. Be careful and enjoy the experience, then guide her out peacefully, no need to stress her out. Wouldn't it be cool if she was a common visitor....
  23. Duck Commander is awesome! These guys are so funny LOL!... Embrace your internal Redneck!! Happy ,Happy ,Happy
  24. That is an awesome brown! I had big hopes of seeing one like that when I was on The River Test in England. I don't think that was flossed, he's says right in the video that it's wrapped up in the line. Fish of a lifetime, in awesome surroundings!
