  1. Wow! Man, that is aweful! I'm glad I pulled out. I would love to learn what happen we could all learn from how this happened. while we were launching there was 3 guys in a 17' boat with a Honda they couldn't get started. Finally they got it started and left. I would have not gone out, especially this time of year. Hope they were ok!
  2. Managed an 18" ...started at 8 finished at 11:30 do to the wind and waves. Plowed back to glenora ferry from east of shermans. Those big boats are gonna have a good day out there today marked a ton of fish. This was my first trip in our 1800 Alaskan in rough water. WOW! Awesome I got back dry...in my ranger 680 tiller I would have been soaked.
  3. Wow! Man that is huge! First fish!! Crazy! Thanks, for sharing!
  4. That's what was crazy.... I did get low ballers on line, so I either ignored or asked them if they are smoking something LOL!.. ...but the real frustrating people were the ones that showed up and offered like 1500-2000 (for a 5yr old cert'd car) and want me to bend over backwards to help them get it on the road CRAZY!!!! One guy even wanted me to get him plates and drive it to scarborough for him ....
  5. Yup they should seize everything and it should be a min of 50,000 dollar fine! Good old Canadian justice... "Here is your slap on the wrist., Now don't do that again!"
  6. I can deal with 25km , 50 I'm not sure I wanna try that there hahaha! keep an eye out for a camo Lund Alaskan tiller, that will be me wave hi :-) kind of hard to get close with 4 boards out hahaha!
  7. I would question why he didn't notify me of the increase, I've been burned by this trick before. Now I get a quote and specifically make them write on the bill "Will call if changes" or something like that. With that said it depends on how long you've been using his services and your relationship with him..if it's buddy buddy then maybe he just assumed it was ok..if not then well sorry to him.. I would express my disappointment, try talk him down, pay the bill and go elsewhere the next time.
  8. Thank you guys!.. I'm bring'n my wife and sister-in-law out for the day so I'm hoping the wind lets up and to find a easy place to launch. We got stuck at the ferry once .. it took my wife and 3 guys waiting to launch, to hold the ranger off the dock & rocks while I got the truck.... that was about as tough a time I've ever had pulling a boat out.
  9. never been to picton harbour, how is the parking and what does it cost?
  10. Looks like the winds are dropping.. We are going, my fingers are crossed! Super excited I haven't been fishing since thanksgiving it will be a nice break from the slow duck hunting season we've been having.
  11. Yup gonna watch the forcast...might wait till the following weekend if it doesn't change.
  12. I've sold a car, my ranger and 2 duck boats, 2 motors...got what i was asking for and each were the first people to make an offer but the car is another story! never will I sell a car again! Royal pain! 5yr old car 3500 cert with brand new tires, brakes etc.. I had so many low ballers its crazy! One guy offered me 2000 if id give him my plates and pay the tax...
  13. Was planning on hitting Quinte this weekend.. looks like they are calling for 50km west winds, hopefully the forecast changes. Would be some pretty big wave action with that wind I think
  14. Nice report Superdad! We are heading out mid to late Nov, I haven't had my full of ducks yet lol!
  15. Nice Job! Those woodies are some good eats To bad about sky busters Great pics!
  16. I'm very happy with it Lew or absolutely right! just it seems my mileage has dropped since last year but I raised the motor again and balanced and cupped the prop so that could be it :-)
  17. Thanks guys, Me watching fuel is about the fuel its about the condition of the motor, mileage is a good indicator of something's not right :-) I have nothing to compare it to, since I would fill my old ranger 680 12 gallons and bring 2 25L gas cans for a long weekend and come home empty I'm certainly way ahead :-)
  18. So while I was stuck on a development problem. I needed something to take my mind off of it for awhile the other day. So extracted the gps track records from my last trip to LakAir. It recorded 37 miles. I figure I burned 27 Litres. So I was running my 18' Alaskan with 75hp yamaha spinning a customized 17p 3 blade aluminum. Carrying a 19 US Gallons of fuel (full tank), roughly 25 lbs of decoys , 2 - 65 lb dogs, avery duckblind, 3 batteries, fishing gear and myself. Here is the break down MPH MileTraveled 20 or less 22 between 20 & 30 10 Faster than 30 7 Does this sound like reasonable mileage for a 1yr old rig?
  19. Thanks guys! That's a great idea Mike..I was thinking of grafton a drainage tube to route the water into the sub floor where everything else drains LOL! After this weekend I'm get'n her done...
  20. This is seat base won't be used for running, it's merely so my guest or wife will be sat under the cover of the duck blind instead of the opening hehe!
  21. I ordered an extra seat base with my boat and am just getting around to installing it. I also ordered replacement rivets color matched to the factory ones so it will look like a factory install. I plan on putting a reinforcement aluminum plate under the floor like they do in the factory as well It's the type of base where the middle recesses through the floor. Where I want to install it is basically where the driver would sit if it's a console instead of a tiller. What concerns me is this area is where all the flotation foam is and these seat bases have a hole in the middle where water drains. I called Lund customer service and asked if I need to be concerned with water draining into the flotation foam. The customer service rep said it would take years and years of being completely soaked for the flotation foam to be come water logged. Would this concern you or am I just being overly concerned ?
  22. News is inherently old by it's nature LOL! that's why it's called news HAHA!
  23. Make sure you do the prescribed exercises. I know a few people that had knee replacements, some did the work, some did not... Everybody who didn't is very stiff and still sore. Those who did the work including my 80 yr old mother in law who had both knees replaced with in 2 years. She gets around really well! much better than before and no pain. Hope you have a speedy recovery
