Another Big Bass Fall Fishing Report from the Big City
tbayboy replied to 007's topic in General Discussion
Nice fish, the island bass are sure going to miss you when your gone. Love the new avatar too -
Woohoo, been a while since we've seen a pike report like that and of course it's Snag who gets the jump on everyone. Nice looking fish there for a weekends worth nevermind an hour. Congrats.

"many customers are buying one for each side of the bed" I'm not sure whats crazier - the idea itself or the fact that people would pay $40 for something they could make themselves for $5. Great find Gerrit

Nice fish Mike, congrats.

Hey everyone. Planning to head up to Stony on Sunday and was looking for any rental advice, I've rented from Burleigh Island lodge before and while the boats and people were nice they're a bit pricey so I'm hoping someone can recommend another place (not a huge deal but hey, can't blame a guy for being cheap right ). More importantly I'm also looking for any advice on October patterns on Stony - I was there a couple times earlier in the summer but without a whole lot of success and I know the rules will be a different this time of year. We're hoping to find a muskie or two and some smallies. If anyone has any advice I'd love to hear it (PM me if you'd like and I'll swear to any level of secrecy you want) Thanks in advance everyone Sean

You buggers revived this thread just to give me a heart attack didn't you? I've been in meetings all day and haven't looked at the market - my first stop was here and I see this 400 point correction thread - . Now I've gotta go fishing to get my blood pressure back down, thanks guys

Wow it sure is beautiful down there this time of year. Great pics, thanks for sharing.

Great pics Aaron, those really have some amazing colours to them.

Picasa is usable but a bit of a pain in that it doesn't let embed the photo URL directly like flickr or photobucket does. That said, its not too hard to get the result you want: Step 1: Navigate to your picture on Picasa's web album (this one for example). Step 2: If your using firefox right click on the picture and select 'copy image location'. If your using internet explorer right click on the picture, select properties then copy the 'address' value. Step 3: click the image button in your post and paste in the URL you just copied, for example: [img=http://lh5.google.com/smaurik/Rkx6Azdlv8I/AAAAAAAAAAw/mFJAJ6B1i1Y/s400/bigfish.jpg] And then you'll get: Bit of a pain but it works though I'd recommend Flickr or photobucket if you have a choice. hope that helps Sean

Nice pike Bill, congrats. These 'X' series lakes and ponds seem to be doing well but I can't find them on google earth damnit

I've been using 6lb crystal all year long for jigging and light tackle applications (walleye and perch jigging, tube dragging, stuff like that) and really like it. Good sensitivity (duh its braid), nice castability etc etc. I tried the regular fireline heavier stuff (20lb) and really didn't like that (vs power pro) but I swear by the crystal for lighter stuff. Have never tried the spider wire so can't comment on that.

Thanks a lot Rizzo - read that mid breakfast and now I won't be able to eat for days :

Wonderful colours on those fish, sounds like a great morning. Congrats and thanks for sharing

Very cool - nice editing job. I just hope this doesn't mean we're coming to the end of the season

Thanks guys, just back from the bar now - Patrick is still going (though I think is wife is going to out drink him tonight hehe). Zib - its a regular camera kept in an AquaPac bag - pretty handy little waterproof camera bag for the price: http://www.aquapac.net/. I got kinda screwed when I ordered it from a place I thought was in canada but was in the states (ended up being $70 all in) but I think with the dollor the way it is now if you google around you should be able to do it for more like $60 (its $45 for the large on that my camera needed - less for most point and shoot cameras). T shoot that video I just had the camera bag hanging from the strap around my neck so it was bouncing right at water level on my chest. I hit record made one cast and that little guy grabbed it. I tried a bit to keep him in front of my chest hoping the bouncing camera would catch some of it and was really surprised at how well it turned out (the you tube version is actually kinda lousy as the full resolution one looked even better).

Exactly - something about that back to basic thing that just makes it that much more enjoyable.

Nice muskie and nothing wrong with a few 'eyes as well. Never be considered a fair weather fisherman after toughing out that weather, good on you guys.

What a great report. Lived up to all the hype - been waiting for this since the teaser a few days back . Marc sounds like an amazing guide and those fish are just amazing, congrats on a well earned perfect trip guys.

First off - Happy Birthday to our own PatrickG. We're going out drinking in a couple hours but first we had to spend the day at Patricks favourite fishing hole (and mine) - the Grand River. I picked up Patrick and it was nice and sunny but when we hit the 401 it started coming down hard. We were getting really worried and talked about alternate plans but when we got to KW it cleared up and the river was glass with lots of mist on it - this Heron didn't like us ruining the calm though <a href=" title="Photo Sharing"><img src="http://farm3.static.flickr.com/2233/1501240392_b600d5a860_b.jpg" width="1024" height="768" alt="Heron Leaving" /></a> Hoping we hadn't spooked the fish we waded out into this beautiful looking part of the river <a href=" title="Photo Sharing"><img src="http://farm1.static.flickr.com/254/1500387633_e5e733896f_b.jpg" width="1024" height="768" alt="Foggy Morning" /></a> Of course looking at that glass I had to tie on a topwater and was quickly rewarded <a href="http://www.flickr.com/photos/emosworld/1500376043/" title="Photo Sharing"><img src="http://farm3.static.flickr.com/2030/1500376043_3b7feb9efa_b.jpg" width="1024" height="768" alt="Topwater fish" /></a> Then I had a crazy idea - I turned on the video recorder and let it going for one cast - don't you love when a plan comes together: <object width="425" height="353"><param name="movie" value=" name="wmode" value="transparent"></param><embed src=" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" wmode="transparent" width="425" height="353"></embed></object> Patrick stuck with tubes and they performed as well as ever <a href="http://www.flickr.com/photos/emosworld/1500384945/" title="Photo Sharing"><img src="http://farm3.static.flickr.com/2006/1500384945_a4e0e287fd_b.jpg" width="1024" height="768" alt="Nice grand smallie" /></a> After a while I switched to a pink 4" wacky rigged worm on a 1/0 circle hook and after a couple little guys (they love this setup) a got a solid tug (no taps - they were all subtle hits today) and after a great little fight I was holding a new PB smallie <a href=" title="Photo Sharing"><img src="http://farm1.static.flickr.com/252/1500377465_3806672ade_b.jpg" width="1024" height="768" alt="Seans Biggie" /></a> The last time we were up here we guessed at weight so this time I brought a scale and this bruiser hit 4lb on the dot - not bad for wading in a river eh? Here she is again <a href=" title="Photo Sharing"><img src="http://farm3.static.flickr.com/2151/1501235798_e7e0c22dcd_b.jpg" width="1024" height="768" alt="4 pounds" /></a> Not to be outdone Patrick soon pulled in own 4 pounder on the tube. It looks smaller but I was a ways away, when weighed she came in bang on at 4 <a href=" title="Photo Sharing"><img src="http://farm3.static.flickr.com/2084/1500382255_332722dd61_b.jpg" width="1024" height="768" alt="Patricks biggie" /></a> Then the clouds rolled by for a little head cleaning but it didn't deter us <a href=" title="Photo Sharing"><img src="http://farm3.static.flickr.com/2324/1500391501_3c3677f96f_b.jpg" width="1024" height="768" alt="Its raining!" /></a> After that (and a bunch more little guys) we went for lunch then tried a new spot. Wow were the dinks stacked up in this spot. I lost 10 senkos in no time. At one point I watched one toss it off my hook right beside me and then another little one shot out from my feet and grabbed it then took off with it. Little thieving buggers cost me a load of cash in plastics today We did get one surprise appearance at the new spot : <a href=" title="Photo Sharing"><img src="http://farm3.static.flickr.com/2111/1500389021_8c074f1ea2_b.jpg" width="1024" height="768" alt="Rockbass" /></a> Another great day on the Grand with a couple pigs and lot of little guys to keep us entertained - this river continues to amaze me. Anyhow, off to go celebrate Patricks Birthday with a beer or two. Hope you enjoyed the report Sean
