Need Tips: Pike Fishing in August in Northern Ontario
Muskieman replied to canadianguy33's topic in General Discussion
there are weeds in that lake North West corner by the little cliff in 10 or so feet you're in a weedy bottom there are big pike in that lake , and some surprizingly big walleye too. walleye are pretty easy to catch there ,, but for the bigguns troll the big hump in the middle at night for 'em. we did pretty good for pike , just trollin' the north shore our big pike was 37" . I can't post pics.. i need to figure out how to reduce them in size.. keep a tight line and have fun up here. MM -
maybe weldable; white metal is hard to make stick , a good welder with the proper skills can do it with the right rods, my neighbor is a Unionized welder and will not touch white metal, my father-in law is a steamfitter[works with white metal] welds white metal everyday. it all depends on whom you go see. as for chemical welds , you may try Red Hot 2000, J/B weld slow cure , or even reinforce it with a custom clamp of somekind. good luck with the resto. I just put the best of both worlds on my deck.. it's a poly-vinyl silicone carpet ...weatherproof available in different colors, reasonable prices.. all the traction of a carpet , drainage & washability of vinyl.. but i forget the actual name. I got mine at Castle . it's a high tec outdoorcarpet. but i got alot of buddies that have sprayed a liquid colormatched bedliner for trucks in their boats , and they swear by it, does'nt look bad either. have fun shopping!! Try casting a Bigger rapala along weededges for larger active walleye at night, or choose a 7-10 foot flat and cast a Wally Minnow or Wally Diver... also many Muskies are caught at night , be prepared. or you can suspend a LIVELY minnow on a glow-in -the-dark bobber in these areas, this way you will catch inactive fish as well. find a place adjacent to deep water 25ft.+with structure [ these spots hold panfish during the day] between 7-15 feet, predatory fish come in at around dusk and into the night to feed. GOOD LUCK>>>>>ZZZZZZZING!>>>>>>SNAP!!!!

you should check into the Tracker Targa series lineup, lotsa bang for the buck, it's a multipurpose boat, great to fish from and very user freindly. or wait till later this fall and pick up a 2 year old boat that still has warranty for 1/2 tha price of a new one. you have alot of choices. anyway good luck in yer searches. distilled water , with 2ml,of bleach diluted for every 100ml in your Distilled water[bottled steam] pre-mix a bottle and keep it in the shop..my batteries are 10 & 9 years old and still work like new. I read that in an old issue of In Fisherman Mag. alot of people here do it , works for me.

trolling for walleyes with spinner baits?
Muskieman replied to jedimaster's topic in General Discussion
Walleye are easily caught on a worm harness, I usually use them while backtrolling at night, for deeper water you can " lindy rig" your harness. But as for " spinner baits" i've caught the hungry ones by accident on a spinnerbait while fishin for pike . But if you ask me .. there are better baits out there for consistantly catching Eyes. Going back to the harnesses, dipsy divers or planer boards , i usually use them in clearer water or when the bite is "OFF" , but generally behind the boat is where i catch mine trolling .Usually I'm a jig & minnow man , and do very good. right now I'm using a wally minnow silver/black on a lead core with a 8 foot fluoro leader and am just KILLIN'EM! I'm outfishing my jig&minnow combo 10:1 ... and deep water , 80 foot of water walleye @ 35 feet . Lake Nipissing . lots of catch & release , most are in the slot managed to take home 8 above the slot on Sunday{ I rarely do this , I usually catch & release, but I was guiding} and was paid good $$$. anyway . Take care be safe and keep a tight line...ZZZZZZZZZING! Randy -
very nice fish.. if you come back up here in the fall you'll get a few of those per day. Congrats! which lodge did ya stay at?

Where are the big smallmouth bass at this time of year?
Muskieman replied to 007's topic in General Discussion
there are a few lakes that i fish in tha canadian sheild that are rocky, 2 hrs North of River Valley ,On, hwy 805 area. Google it. #1 Gull Lake, gin clear where the average Bass is ' bout 18" and a biggun is 22-23. and just three miles away is Cummings where tha bass are of an average of 12-15 and a biggun is 17-18". Ithink that it varies from lake to lake . and just another 10 minutes over is Secret Lake where the bass is very small where a biggun is 12". so i think it all depends on the lake you're fishin' tightlines. Minn kota PD stuck at the same speed??
Muskieman replied to BFSC Kevin's topic in General Discussion
the same happened to me last week i took my pedal apard and cleaned an sprayed it with electrical contact cleaner and regreases everything , it solved the problem. -
that sounds like a ping to me , try new plugs , you don't have to go with a platinum, try again to find" the foam" any UNI-SELECT member like the corner auto parts store , and ask them to order a can of # 241sf16, Napa usually has it too. Benson Tire down south can get you some.

How bout these old shows, Fishing the North, Good Fishing ,Fish On[80's],Casting Out, and how many i'm i foregttin' lots i bet. I've guided, 6 times for some and they've stayed where i worked on The French 13 yrs ago. I was in the camera boat, and the things that they do are ridiculous, Pete from FNC is the most down to earth amongst tha Canadian crew, but alot of the others are full of themselves OH! HENRY. Babe Winkleman is pretty cool, loves tha beers. but right now my favorites are Fishful Thinking, FNC, and Bob.. anybody see Vince McDonnell?

How's your oil pressure? do you have a light or guage? how many Km's on the engine? What grade of oil did u use , did you use a cheap or a quality filter? wich engine? 2.7, 3.0, 3.3, 3.8 v6's? or the everbroken 2.4 ,4 cyl. the pinging can be caused by "getting old plugs'' "pinging" usually a fuel ignition problem. does this do the noise at a certain RPM or is it in the full range 850-5500. Try SEAFOAM AUTO&MARINE , it's an additive that works very very well, pour a 1/2 can in your oil and the other 1/2 in your gas tank. our mechanics use it every day for most it's the only additive they use or reccomend available at any Benson' or Napa. part # SF16 a can should cost between 8.99$ -11.99$. this stuff will clean out your oil pick up tube & screen assy. if it's the problem you'll find out pretty quick. i need more engine info.

I used to drink Molson EX, i rediscovered Red Cap last summer, pretty good if you ask me or probably any Ale drinker , get this they still come in stubby bottles, and now have Bob&Doug McKenzie labels on 'em, take off EH! pretty much any Ale is my choice, followed closely by "Training Beer" like Corona ,Sol ,Carib. I also like the imports from Germany and Holland. and i cannot forget "La Fin Du Monde" and "Maudite " wich are brewed in Quebec. If you go out west you can also count on a good ale called "Kootenay"

12 pounds my ass! I have a 22 1/2 on my wall i'm looking at right now, it weighed in at 6lb10oz. and was very fat when i caught it, as for the age , you can take a scale and count the rings like a tree to determine the age within a year or two, this works on bass that are over 15" or so, i caught mine in Gull Lake behind River Valley my taxidermist said it was over 20 years old , i also have 2 x 20" on the same peice of driftwood and he estimated those at around 17 years of age. as for the taste , Bass is'nt the best in the first place it must of tasted like a pair of wet muckluks, never mind the rubber boots. Are there any pics of this fish anywhere? Randy

The bait seems to run true a little longer , now i don't want to bash the company but Black Bly make a great spinnerbait too, and it's half the price with a just as wide selection of colors . never had a problem with either, and to me are a comparable product . I buy both regularly, but I especially like the tornado firetiger in the fall for muskie. if only it would come in a 1 1/2 oz.
