Long Point Bass Opener - or around there...
bow slayer replied to KraTToR's topic in General Discussion
yes there are no waterfront sites to beach your boat on like lakes in the north,as mentioned the park has a good ramp and several slips but again as mentioned I would be very hesitent on leaving it over night. there are electric sites in the park to charge your battery if you book one,if not there are a couple marinas there that would charge it for you for a small fee. -
mid august will be prime time for some big smallies in that area, although the pike and walleye seem to be harder to find then

Pinery fishing report. Sorry no pics of actual fish

there is some big bass and dogfish in the weedy areas below the little tunnel the passes under the road where the park store is. We also use to catch quite a few crappy there as well. -
we just sold our tent trailer last year after 16 years of owning it . kids have grown and does not make sense to take 2 vehicles on holidays anymore(one to pull boat one for trailer) and i would rather tent it then go boatless. Tent trailers are great on rainy days and cold nights with a furnance but as mentioned if it is raining on pack up day it sucks cause you will have to set up again when you get home to dry out. Personally I say buy good tents and tarp your tents to keep the site and them dry.get some of those BYO beds to keep you off the ground and comfy and camp when possible with electricity and use a space heater. You be better off buying a small travel trailer that way no worries about weather on pack up or set up.

yep big coolers are definately are cheaper in the states,I picked up a 120 litre coleman for about 65 bucks a few years back, the same unit up here was 129 and dollars at the time where about even.

Do you have a boarding ladder on your boat ?
bow slayer replied to lew's topic in General Discussion
I have one mounted on the back of my 16 footer,it is great for when the kids are tubing or just jumping off for a swim, though as mentioned it is not the easiest to climb out with. -
I got a 5x10 for that purpose,it has a drop down ramp and anchors mounted on the floor to use rachets straps to tie down, 3500lb axle ,15 inch tires, also has a lockable storage box on the front for helmets, boots and muddy/wet gear.perfect for both atv and snowmachine.

well after playing with it seems to be a fuel problem, there is spark but the plug is bone dry,I quess next is take the carb off and clean it.

well Bowman's in Nipissing just quoted me 40/pound or 25 for half a pound. Looks like I will grab them there, half pound works out to about 8-9 dozen.

I hate these endings,30 years old, makes 1 mistake and end of story,so sad.
-
leeches are more durable and easier to store then worms, just keep them cool and change the water.
-
wow small world Restoule is where I am headed,I usually go get them in Nipissing at Bowmans bait but it is kind of out of the way was hoping to get them on 11 somewhere.
-
Just curious what they charge these days for a pound of leeches? Also some suggestions where to pick them up on way up highway 11 to powassan, thanks.

Rondeau,lots of pike

I am trying to free up a couple days to go visit my dad and do some fishing next week,he lives on the lake in Lavaigne,if I do make it i will let you know how the weeds are shaping up.

underrated musky fishery Only camps are on restoule and are housekeeping cottages. not sure if Mr.grawberger is still doing cottage and guiding packages or not. there is still martins and Eckford(I know they have a new name now) To get to stormy and clear lakes plus the restoule river you will have to trailer your boat down to stormy lake inside the park. there are lots of islands and bays to get out of wind on both all the lakes and down the river towards the dam. The lakes have lots of structure, dropoffs, sunken islands, boulders, logs and weedbeds, restoule stormy and clear all have depths of over 100ft and have lake trout and whitefish.
-
Just talk to Bing(unless he has sold the camp) he will point you in the right direction. If I was hunting skis I would be spending more time on Stormy and clear . Big orange and black bucktail spinnerbaits and big black and gold pikie minnows work well. Lots of skis in the waters.

yes to spark and the other not sure yet I will be playing with it later today again, thanks for the suggestions
-
I dont know much about the fishing in june in the area but in july we fish in 14-18 fow with twister tails tipped with leeches and minnows or worm harnesses slowly retrieved with a dew worm in the mornings and evenings for walleye and bass. Topwaters along the park shoreline in the evenings at dusk work great for bass and pike and the occassional musky.

picked up a 2 hp evinrude for the port a bote on the weekend. It is in excellent shape with little use but has sat for a very long time. Trying to start it has been a chore, seems like it is getting no gas. Gas shut off value is open choke on and yes fuel in the tank, but no start. Anyone has some suggestions or familar with these outboard. It is a direct drive motor.

I had a site at Fushimi booked last summer but had to cancel due to a family illness. I am hoping to try again next summer as this summer is already booked. It sounds and looks like a great park and they just finished building a small cabin for rent in the park.

wow 10 hours,I would look at Wakimi PP,or Ivanhoe Lake PP all in the 10 hour frame. If you want something closer Restoule or martin River PP.
