  1. Maybe we'll let him come back to Toronto for a discount on a bridge deal.
  2. I don't know if we'd want Tavares to be honest. Forget that he would cost a lot and probably would only play second line centre behind Matthews, the cap hit would make some really difficult decisions going forward. I'd love to see Tavares in a leafs uniform but we have a lot of other more pressing issues to address first.
  3. I'll probably get out once more for perch and small lakers.
  4. Still hoping to get out a few times before the season is over but one of the main factors is going to be that 2018 is on a budget. Though I can't do anything about the gas used to get to the lake I figure I can save a few bucks not buying minnows. Though the deal is good at a lot of places I don't really have a way of making salties or keeping them alive. So I figure I'll go another route. I've heard good things about waxies and figure I can pick them up at the pet store. What else has worked for people that's live? I know the crazies like B will tell me not to use bait, but I have always found adding meat just seems to make the fish that much more hungry.
  5. First crappie I ever caught through the ice was about 3 inches. I was so happy I kept it. 3 hours later I had a nice fill of big crappie, so I put the small over over the hole. It thawed out and swam off.
  6. Best game the leafs have played all year. Was not expecting that effort.
  7. Reeds has treated us well these past 2 years. We are doing an overnight 2 weeks Friday with them. Nicest people I have ever met, put us on fish and the rates are reasonable. Can do the entire weekend or for a large enough group (4 plus) can do a 1 night overnight. Highly recommend.
  8. Sweet. Thanks Joey. Was hoping you would chime in on this. B, end of Feb or March I'll make sure to visit for a morning. Save some whities for me.
  9. Thanks guys. Drifter, do you dead stick or do you move them at all? Also do you 'Charge' them before you send them down? I remember I was with Simon (Pikeslayer) on early morning for Chinook on Lake O and he had us charging up the lures with a fluorescent flashlight. (I think I have a few glow spoons but I'll have to check)
  10. Due to multiple reasons it looks like I won't be getting out on the ice this year nearly as much as I had hoped, but in a couple of weeks my mom, girlfriend and I are renting and overnight hut on Lake Nippising which I'm super excited for. I've got my plan all laid out for perch, walleye and herring but then I got to thinking about Burbot. I remember before a few people mentioning that to hook up with Burbot, a nice dead minnow on the bottom of the lake works well but I was wondering, how late should I fish for them? I mean. don't get me wrong, I'd pull an all nighter if I thought I could staring at the hole waiting for a bite, but I figure I should get sleep at some point in time. For everyone/anyone that has had success can you share some pointers? Thanks.
  11. Yup. Some of us are more passionate about fishing then others. (I kid I kid) I just meant that if something has luck to it, it got that way by using it. I'm as superstitious as they come but I don't think the luck of the lure will rub off just by being near the other lures. So all I was saying was, if something works, go for it. Make the most of it while you can rather then the fear of what might happen. A lot of things might happen, and we should be mindful of that, but it shouldn't stop us from doing or using the things we like best.
  12. Way to go Joey. Fish of a lifetime. And you let her see a few more years, or at least one more hook in her mouth.
  13. That's not an old daredevil just completely beaten up? Also I agree with HTHM, I'd rather lose my favourite lure they don't make anymore to a massive fish. I'd rather die in a freak accident doing something I love rather then dying of old age in fear never leaving my house. But that's just me.
  14. Finally a good 3rd period. The shorthanded goals are woerying me a bit though.
  15. Its a good thing the season is 82 games and not 1 or Ottawa would have sold the farm in the first 6 games of the season for their 'unbeatable team.' Really really bad pinch by Riley on that last goal but it happens. Doesn't matter anyways, we won't be seeing the sens in the playoffs. The Jearsys on the ice and the waffles make total sense for protest. Leafs fans are still loyal and will support the team but with those actions wanted to show management that the direction the team was going was unacceptable. And change was made. Now look at us. Anyone who assaults someone else at the arena there is no place for. In leafs nation. In Ontario, In Canada. On this planet. But a few bad apples can spoil the whole bunch.
  16. You'll have to yell a little louder. We can't hear you from how high above you we are in the standings.
  17. With all the perch in Simcoe I find my flasher shows me one of two things. 1) perch aren't there and I see my lure and nothing else 2) the school of perch came in and all I see is one massive red bar on my sonar.
  18. You must have retired years ago bud. Last night the leafs beat the Nucks. Tonight is Sunday night. No game.
  19. We've already had so many bandwaggon jumpers when we drafted Auston Matthews, then when we made the playoffs. If we win a few rounds or make a cup final I wonder what will happen? People will start calling the leafs 'Canada's team' XD XD
