Lets hope they're right on this one!! Bring on the ice Sinker

I could see a boat wash working to stop spreading mussels......maybe. Gobies have been in rice for longer than what they state in that report. The whole trent severn is going to have them.....its just a matter of time........ Sinker

For sure, get a flip over style.......the tents are a PITA if there is any wind at all. I have an eskimo quick flip 2 man. Its great if your pulling it with a machine, but to pull by hand is a workout. (88lbs empty) Its doable, but its hard work!! Great for 1 person (lots of room) not bad for 2. Lots of room for gear, and the sled is tough. Mine has the bench seat which is great, with the backrest.....sweet. Solid construction.....the poles stick a bit sometimes when its real cold, but I think they all do. Overall, I like it alot, I just don't like pulling it by hand. If its first ice, or last ice and I can't take the machine, I usually just rough it......unless its REALLY nasty out. Sinker

Santa came early for me this year ....again....

Nice rig for sure!! Is that suzuki a 4 stroke? I had a suzuki before my present engine, and it was a great motor. Wish I still had it. Sinker -
I don't fish that side of the lake much. If I was going after perch, I'd launch in pefferlaw and head out from there. Not sure what the ice situation is there in the canals though, might be iced over. A call to Caseys would fill you in though. Sinker

I'd take a good long track snow machine over an argo anyday......as long as your talking winter travel only. You can have some good fun in the argo all season long, but if your after good reliable winter travel.....ya can't beat a long track with lots of power! Sinker

Eagle / Lowrance Ice Fishing Transducer
Sinker replied to seansmith_smith's topic in General Discussion
A chunk of pool noodle duck taped to the cable just above the transducer works well too. I don't have a pic, but that's what I do with mine. Just slit the noodle, and put your cable in the slit, this floats the transducer in the hole. The hockey stick works just fine too............ If its a portable transducer already, with the suction cup, 2 pieces of plexi glass hinged together are a good way to do it too. Just make one piece of plexi big enough for the suction cup, and the other end long enough that you can pile some snow on it to keep it out of the hole......works pretty good too. Sinker -
Not sure where your getting this weather?? With the exception of monday, I get below zero temps all next week when I check TWN. 6 degrees with rain in the day, then -5 over night will only make more ice.......it freezes much faster than it thaws!! Looks like prime ice making weather to me......for the Haliburtons at least. Sinker

Too early? I think I'll be drilling next weekend in the haliburton area with no problems. Check the long range forcast!! Heres what the kawartha's look like this morning! Wont' be long now!! As long as it stays below zero at night, we'll be drilling in no time!! Sinker

I pay $160 for an arctic cat puma 340, 2 up. I think your getting ripped off there. Sinker

Anyone Live on the Shores of Pigeon Lake??
Sinker replied to JustinHoffman's topic in General Discussion
You should have went.....I did. We broke ice for a bit, then found some open water......set up.....got birds.....came home This is the best time of year, the birds are confused.....all thier spots are frozen, so they don't know where to go. It was a fresh morning on the water though. We spent a lot of time busting ice off the decoys, but it was worth it to get that last shoot in!! Sinker -
Cigarette Smoking . . . . . . (Definately N. F.)
Sinker replied to Photoz's topic in General Discussion
KyleM.........maybe you are reading this all wrong. I take non smokers into consideration when I light up. Where is the ignorance in that? I guess all you non smokers want me to build a separate little building so I'm not smoking outside, or inside? I don't know.....you tell me??? I am doing the least amount of harm to non smokers that I can, with my smoking.....I do it OUTSIDE.......its the people that complain about me smoking outside that piss me off......I smoke outside out of RESPECT for non smokers.......I can smoke in my house with my kids, but choose not to, I can smoke in the car with the kids, but don't. I don't even smoke in my own vehicle with friends that don't smoke....... Where is the ignorance in that? And yes, I fish......lots....I'd say about 150 days a year on the water, either fishing or hunting. Its hunting season right now though, so fishing takes a back seat until the ice is here. I'd bet I spend more time on the water than you do!! Sinker -

You'll be fine. Any ice that will be there, won't be thick enough to stop a boat. I just pulled my boat out of sturgeon lake last night. The only reason I pulled it was all the snow and rain...........the lakes are wide open......I'll be launching it again on saturday for a layout hunt. Lots of black and white birds, and loads of migrant mallards and geese around. Should be a great day for duck hunting......good luck!! Sinker -
$190 for an impellor.......WOW!! I just had the head gasket done in mine for a buck fifty......I had the impellor done last year for $90...... That Yammy sounds like a great deal BTW.......gotta like the yammys!! Haven't heard many complaints about them......it would look nice on the back of that blue boat too Sinker

Does your car have windows? Maybe put them up?? Just a thought...... Sinker -
You should have taken it while you could. I would have put it in the truck right then and there......especially if the cop was going to help you with it. It would have been AOK!! I picked up a 10 pointer earlier in the fall.......the guy that hit it didn't even slow down, just kept on going. The deer was in the oncoming lane......dead as a doornail. I figured someone had to at least drag it off the road before someone else hit it. Called the OPP, they told me to take it if I wanted it.......so I did......Freezer is loaded I got one last year too......on my way duck hunting.......big 8 point on the shoulder. I stopped to check it out and it was still bleeding......steaming.....so I slapped my buck tag on it and threw it in the back of the truck.....lol.....then went duckhunting.....ended up with a big 8pt buck, and a limit of ducks that day...... I make them the same way as Misfish. On a drill, with balsa and 1/8 dowel. I started using the clear sticks, but they seem to break once in a while. I like the slip float tubes......gonna have to try that one!! Sinker

Did I say I was at work? I was at school......our smoking area is outside the pub....... Yet another person complaining about people smoking outside......blows my mind.......while sitting in traffic none the less.......HAHAHAHAHA......Ok.....your sitting in traffic......inhaling fumes from thousands of car exausts, and your worried about the guy smoking beside you.... I'm sorry, but this topic really gets me........... If you don't like inhaling second hand smoke while your outside.......STAY AWAY FROM SMOKERS........its not rocket science........I keep it outside out of respect for non-smokers.....all I ask is for the same respect. I LIKE TO SMOKE!!! Sinker -
Cigarette Smoking . . . . . . (Definately N. F.)

Yesterday I go OUTSIDE (in the smoking area) for a smoke on my break. There is a guy sitting at the picnic table across from me. I sit, pull out a smoke, get my lighter.....and this guy says....."oh, your not going to sit here and smoke are you?".......I tell him yes, this is the smoking area......well he started in on me about second hand smoke..... .......DUDE, WE'RE OUTSIDE!!!! FRIG OFF!!!! Meanwhile, he's sitting there bragging about how many pitchers of beer hes drank so far that afternoon..... Non smokers piss me off......if you don't like it, stay the hell away from me......go inside. Don't tell me what to do and not to do......I'll figure it out on my own.......you'll all be happy when I"m dead I guess. If smoking doesn't kill me, something else will. I like to smoke..I only smoke outside ......don't pester me about how bad it is for me......I KNOW!!! If I want to smoke in MY car, with MY kids.....I will (with the windows down of course)......I don't.......but I will if I want!!!! MYOB!!! Do you really think a law will be passed for smoking in MY car with MY kids aboard.....HAHAHAHAHA.......hilarious!!!! Sinker -
My boat stays in the water until I have to break ice to get it out. Every year!! Keep the engine in the down position and your fine. Just make sure the wells are empty, and the bilge is drained. Sinker

I've never trusted those muffs for running my engine out of water. I can't get mine to pump with them on......but in the lake or a barrel.......it pumps by the gallon!! Sinker

Yup, and so is the one on the right in the pic. Just not fully plumed yet. They don't all have the long tails. It comes with age, a fully plumed mature drake will have the long tail. A young drake will have no tail, or a shorter one. I'm not saying your wrong Ron, but the bird on the right in the original pic is a drake old squaw. Hens are mostly brownish/grey on thier backs. Hardly any white like the bird in the pic. Sinker
