  1. Nice going Glen!! Looks like some good eats bud!!! I'd still rather be fishing thru a hole in the ice, we only get the chance to do it for a few months of the year........when ya comin?? Thanks for the report! Sinker
  2. Check your PM's buddy!!
  3. Steve, I'll be at the spot. You know where it is!!! See ya out there? Sinker
  4. The laker opener for me, is walleye opener......so, yes, I've been VERY jealous of your reports up till now!!!! I'll take my revenge on the first though, so be prepared for it Sinker
  5. Sorry for your loss Tom, our deepest condolences. Sinker
  6. There was about 6" of good hard clear ice, and another inch of frozen slush on top. Plenty safe for walking. There were guys out with bikes and huts too.... Sinker
  7. Man, if my power was out for that long, I"d be screwed. My sump pump has been going almost non stop since friday!! I'd be flooded out fer sure by now!!! Good on ya for being prepared Cliff!! I'm going looking for generators now......cya! Sinker
  8. Hey, I managed to get out on some ice on Monday morning at a secret whitie lake, where its open all year. We had a great day out there. Between 3 of us, we had 5 whities and 5 lakers......the lakers went back down the hole until Jan. 1st, but the whities got an invite back home for dinner ;D This is the only pic I took, and I caught one more after this pic. Next up is simcoe perch, and bog eyes ;D Sinker
  9. You can get calls pretty cheap. I'm not sure what you want to call in? There is much more involved in calling in wild game than just blowing a call........they aren't going to come running in for a look without checking things out from distance first. You have to have everything "just right" . Sinker
  10. I always drill a second hold for my transducer. I don't like it in the hole I'm jiggin in. Just drill another one right beside it and your all set. Sinker
  11. Rain is good for the ice!!! Once it all re freezes, we'll be in business!!! I sat out in the rain from sun up until around 1pm today......got soaked!!! Sinker
  12. Call Terry at Eagle Lake Adventures. Google will pull the number for ya!! He's the man up there, and very willing to help!!! Sinker
  13. I also use a graph, and I'll tell ya, there isn't much lag in time on it. If there is a fish down there, it marks it. That's good enough for me!!! The flashers won't catch them for ya, you still need to know what your doing!!! Sinker
  14. This one time.....on simcoe....fishing perch thru an old 4" hole that I broke open with my boot.....I hooked into what I figured was a pike......on 4lb test..... Turned out to be a 7lb laker........he filled the 4" hole pretty good!!! Getting them to the hole is easy, anyone can do that......getting them turned up the hole is the tricky part!!! Take it easy, and anything will come up!! Sinker
  15. I'm one of those guys who can't seem to get the rythm of an offset handle. I've been using a swede bore 8" hand auger for so long, the offset handles mess me up. I can pound holes pretty good with the ole swede bore though......no probs. I've even take a few $'s betting the fin bore could beat me on the swede bore I know for sure with a hand auger I can drill one hole faster than a gas auger........its when you get into multiple holes that the gas wins hands down. The hand auger is always my first choice though......I find being mobile is key on the ice.........less gear=less set up time! Its all what your used to.......they all work well, just keep em sharp and don't bang them around. Sinker
  16. It was a nasty night friday night........easy to get turned around on the lake at night in those winds and fresh snow, and tough going on a machine......I wouldn't have gone out alone. I hope they find him. Sinker
  17. I'm so jealous!!!!! The vids are great in the reports, I really like that, but I have to ask......how do you take the vid, and bring in the fish at the same time??? Pretty slick dude!!! I'm hoping to get out for some whities over the christmas holidays too!! Also one of my favourites thru the ice......gotta love em!!! Have you ever tried a slip float for them?? It works amazing.....so sensitive!! Sinker
  18. I've been running a 24" toro single stage for as long as I can remember. My dad had it forever, and then it got passed on to me. Other than changing a belt every 4-5 years, and regular maintenance, its been flawless. It will throw snow over my 6' fence and into the ditch on the other side......no kidding!! Its not the fastest machine going, but it works very well, and is easy to operate! I takes 3 pulls every time to start, and runs like a champ always. I've had it up at the cottage in march, and the drive was never cleared all winter. This thing ate up the 3ft of hard snow like it was nothing......right down to the the gravel.....it still blows my mind every time I use it. If I ever need another one, its gonna be a toro fer sure!!! Its all steel too......the only plastic on it is the gas cap At work we have a John Deere. Its a good unit too, but its mounted on a small diesel tractor. From what the guys tell me, its a great unit too. It takes a real beating, I know that fer sure! Sinker
  19. Good ole Shwa!! I haven't been in the store yet, but from what I hear, its pretty good! There is nothing worse than a thief....the lowest form of life!!! And at Christmas too boot.....talk about low lifes!!! The yprolly traded the goods for thier fix of crack.......brutal!!! Good luck with all this Hirk, hope it all ends well. I'll have to pay a visit to the shop the next time I'm in the dirty shwa!! Where abouts is it exactly anyways?? Sinker
  20. Yep, just replace them. I replace mine every season whether they need it or not!! Can't beat new blades.....and they're usually not too expensive! Sinker
  21. You need a portable to haul behind you. A good tow bar and cover and you can go anywhere in no time! Make sure to get the runner kit for it....they take a beating behind a machine!! Sinker
  22. Sorry for your loss Brian! Sinker

  24. This is a boat we're talking about right??? They're made to stand the abuse of water. A bit of snow and ice won't hurt a thing......don't lose sleep over it!!! There were guys out musky fishing on the weekend in well below zero temps......I would think that would cause more damage than a little snow/ice in your covered up boat!!! Sinker
