  1. I sit on the starbord side, tiller in my left hand.
  2. Wuut????
  3. I always store my stuff full of stabilized gas. I just don't like leaving a motor/carb dry for that length of time.
  4. I like standing right where you took that vid from. The ones that jump aren't nearly as impressive as the ones that just power thier way up the flow........without ever leaving the water. Friggen awesome!! Sinker
  5. I eat fish once a week, and I never buy it. Sinker
  6. I'm not sure of my age when this happened, but I couldn't have been older than 10. Me and my brother(5 years younger than me) were just casting off the dock. We never really caught much, we just liked to cast. There was a jug out there that we would try and cast to.......kinda like a distance casting competition. We'd go thru the old mans tackle box, and get the biggest, heaviest lure we could find, and just chuck it out as far as we could. I always got the title for the longest cast. So, one year, we're out doing the distance cast thing off the dock. I always did best with a big old rusty 5 of diamonds spoon. This time, my brother got his hands on it first. I was a little mad, but I let him keep it. So, here we are casting as far as we could, then reeling it in as fast as we could, so we could cast again. It wasn't about catching a fish......we never did anyways. So my brother lets a good long cast fly.......he almost got it to the jug. I will admit, I was quite impressed with that cast. He goes to reel reel in, and nothing will budge. He says, there's something wrong with my reel. It was an old Mitchell 300. I look over, and his rod is bent right over......he's looking at the reel. I said, your snagged dumbass.......now your going to lose my lucky spoon!! Just at that moment, the reel starts screaming. We both looked at each other in total disbelief. Now I'm getting a little excited, and wanted him to give me the rod......yeah right.....that's not happening. He's got his tongue hanging out of his mouth, rad jammed into his belly, and he's reeling against the drag like a mad man......I'll never forget that moment and the determination in his face. By now, we've drawn quite the audience. There is an old guy that comes running with a net, who is now coaching him on what to do. Well, wouldn't you know it, he ends up landing this HUGE pike. The old fella nets it, we get it up on the dock, get the hooks out, and the old guy says "Are ya gunna keep it? You should really let that one go." There was no chance he was letting it go......it was his biggest fish ever, and we just had to show Dad this fish. We put it on a piece of rope, and dragged that sucker up the hill to the campsite. When my dad saw us coming, he didn't know what to think. It measured 42", and had a 2lb smallie in its belly. It was FAT!! We filleted it up, and had a huge fish fry with it.....LOL. I think we fed the whole park with that fish. Now, If I had that moment back, I would have taken my spoon off that little brat in the first place, and that pike would have been mine!!!! We still talk about that fish everytime we get together. Sinker
  7. Nice fish Joey! Good haul for sure. Sinker
  8. Ha......just wait until next week!!!
  9. Yes, some awesome spots for fishing. With 50km of causeway, there is bound to be a couple good spots! I think there was a bridge every km along the way, but we only fished a couple of them. We just rented bikes, and loaded our backpacks with gear and beer and away we'd go. It was a great trip. The resort was also top notch, the people were great, and the food was awesome. We did the same thing with our fresh catch a couple times. We had snapper and jacks almost every day while we were there. No problems getting fresh shrimp for bait from the kitchen staff either, especially when you show up with a few fresh snappers as a gift S.
  10. Ahhh......thank you!! I spent a week in November at cayo santa maria, with similar results. The wind was relentless, so we were fishing the bridges. I also ran into, and got to know the local cubans that were there fishing, and like you, I left the majority of my gear there with them. I got many things in trade that I didn't ask for as well. One fellow showed up one morning with 3, 2.5Kg bags of primo cuban coffee for me.......where he got it I have no idea, but it just goes to show how apprecitative they are. On my last day there, I gave my catch of 3 snappers to that fella, and tucked in the bag a few more small pieces of tackle. A spool of 40lb mono, some larger slip wieghts, and swivels/snaps, and one white X-rap. He didn't look in the bag right away. About an hour later, he came over with my gear, offering to return it, thinking I had left it in there by accident. When i said it was a gift for him, he was close to being in tears. The look on his face was priceless, one of the highlights of my trip for sure. I'll definitly be going back there. I had a great time. Thanks for posting your experience, I thoroughly enjoyed it! 11. Ha.......your telling me......I'm friggen STOKED!!!!
  12. Yes, this is what I've come to understand as well. I've booked with that guide service, its carved in stone. I talked to the guy last night, and he says we have timed it just right to get into some good fish. I can't freakin wait!!!! Sinker
  13. The Lindsay store is awesome......for a CT. They even have a musky section I go to that one anytime I need something from CT. I have 2 that are half the distance away, but they never have what I need.......fishing related or not. The Bowmanville store is useless........don't even go there if you have to!!! Sinker
  14. It makes a difference icefishing, that is 100% for sure. I've seen it too many times now not to believe it. Any slow fishing days, I use it. If they are on, they're on......doesn't matter. It is much more abrasion resistant than mono too. It can take some abuse. For trib fishing, I'd use it if it was gin clear, but otherwise, there's no need. Like already said, presentation is key! Sinker
  15. Me and my old man built a 16ft fishing boat. Pretty much the same as an aluminum utility boat, but made from wood. My grandfather has built many boats too. I'm thinking about building a layout boat for duck hunting. There are a lot of plans online if you look for them. Sinker
  16. I want a sturgeon first! Saltwater second. Not really interested in salmon......I get enough of them here. I already talked to the guy tibbs reccomended, and he's a go, but I'm totally open to any other guides that any of you's have used before for sturgeon. I'll be in North Vancouver, so Fraser river it is. Thanks Holdfast, I'll look into it for sure! Sinker
  17. As long as theyre in season, and I can get a guide, thats the plan for sure. They've been on the top of my life list for a loooooong time. I'm researching it right now. This trip kinda came up out of the blue, so I"m scrambling now...... Sinker
  18. PM sent
  19. What should I try and fish for out there? Im only going for a few days, so give me my best opportunity for a fishing trip?? I'll be there over the may long weekend. I'd love to get a sturgeon........any chance of that happening?? Next choice would be halibut or Ling cod. I would settle for salmon, but as a last resort. I can get lots of them here. I'm only interested in salt water fishing, so a charter is going to be in the works. Any local contacts/knowledge would be much appreciated. Sinker
  20. They've been oiling eggs around here for a couple years now in most parks/CA's. Upping the limits on early season geese might help, but I know I don't want 12-15 geese to clean!! 8 per guy was more than enough for me to deal with!! Sinker
  21. If I was you, I"d keep the 30lb minn kota, and buy an extra battery. Hook them up together, and you'll have more than enough power to fish all day long. I use a 28lb motor guide on my little bush whacking speck trips with one battery, and I can troll along all day no problem in a 12 footer with 2 guys and gear. It will go 5MPH at full throttle. Its no hot rod, but it gets you from A to B......and back! Sinker
  22. Your doing good if you get a pan full. Its all about timing, and putting in your time around here. If you don't go every night, you won't get enough to make it worth while. Some nights you don't even see one, others you get a bucket full. Its hardly worth it anymore, but I still go.......its more of a tradition than anything though. Sinker
  23. Never had a problem with a dodge!
  24. I just need a fresh tank of gas, hook up the batteries, and I"m gone. 3 pulls, and we're fishing. Simple is best! Sinker
  25. Ditto.......I run mine in extreme cold, and the last thing I'm going to change is the mix!! Sinker
