  1. I'm sorry, but I am laughing!! Only because I've been there, and done that!!! LOL. Hey, its all about the adventure, right? S.
  2. Ya, lets ban everyone from going on the ice. Province wide. That should save some lives and reduce toxins entering the water. All we need now is enough manpower to enforce it.......... ........no prob!!! S.
  3. I don't see those bass guys fishing for any real fish If enough guys could catch fish, other than bass, maybe we would have a tourney? Lets try something with teeth, just for fun S.
  4. Where is this happening??
  5. Yet another reason I need a new machine!!! S.
  6. Its too bad its not a tourney for real fish. Bass are ghey........ S.
  7. My go to jig there is a half and half #60 hammered williams ice jig. Take off the side hooks, and tip with 1-3 minnows depending on thier size. The key is to keep jigging, all day. Don't stop. If you have electronics, bring them for sure, and use them. I've also had good luck on macho minnows (same as a Mr. Champ), buckshots, and pimples. Jig like mad. Your trying to get them in for a look at your lure, then you gotta make them bite. I will jig something big (williams) most times they will hit it, if they won't I have a second rod ready with a smaller bait on it that I will drop down to them if they don't show interest. Key is to be jigging when they come thru. They don't live in any one particular area, they just cruise thru. If your screwing around when they pass by, you get nada. Jig like a madman, and you should get some action. S.
  8. Look for at least 15-18fow wherever you go. A few buddies of mine did OK on big bay on wed. jig your arm off, and don't stop. You can get them at any time of day there. Just keep on jiggin........ S.
  9. Fishing is a lot more than a pastime, or hobby. What about commercial fisherman? Fisheries as a resource??? The cormorants are putting a big hurt on all these, and then some. I'd be the first in line to buy a license to kill off a few thousand. I'll start making decoys as soon as i hear its coming!!! S.
  10. Keep atter Sam! Just think, if you can learn that much in a couple months, imagine how well you'll be in a couple years!! I taught myself as well, biggest tip I can give is to practice, practice, practice. If you can pick it up by ear, you'll figure things out REALLY quick with a couple simple lessons too. I never took lessons, and now I'm more of a "play-along-er". I can play along to anything, but never really take the lead. S.
  11. 100% pure wild brookie. You guys who think otherwise need to do some research. Specks will venture into rice if the water temps are right. A lot of rice lake tripbs are loaded with specks S.
  12. Less than 20ft, between port bolster and beaverton. That's as detailed as I'm willing to get. S.
  13. Well, my room mate just got in with a nice bucket of perch, 10"+. Not quite a limit, but 3/4 of a bucket full. The west side of the lake is a nursery. I'd rather catch less numbers, more quality. My bud said he released about 10, out of 40 or so. All the rest were keepers. Way better than 100 dinks, and not enough keepers for dinner!!! East side has the jumbo's! S.
  14. My fleet of reels is slowly turning into a fleet of pfleugers. I love 'em, and ya just can't beat the price! Not a single issue with any of mine at all. S.
  15. They're all on the east side of the lake!! Cooks is a nursery!!! S.
  16. Great place to spend a couple peaceful nights for sure. I love it up there. Fishing is much better in March, if your going to go again. I used to spend all my march breaks there back in the day. I think we were the first ones to rent a cabin in the winter from them. I see they've expanded since then. They only had one winterized when we used to go. I'm not sure why the hut is only in 27fow though, that is a very deep lake. Chris knows the spots too, he must be keeping the fish for himself I wouldn't have fished in the hut for long once I saw that depth, but what can ya do. I'm sure you's had a nice time regardless! S.
  17. Loads of pike if your in the right spot. My dad and i caught 17 there one day in less than an hour. All snot rockets though, between 18-30". Good fun though! If your up in that neck of the woods, you have literraly thousands of better options than elephant though. i wouldn't waste my time there when there are trout lakes all over!! Specks, splake, lakers, and bows are a lot more fun than small pike IMO. S.
  18. yeah, if you get them stuck, you may as well laeave them there till spring LOL. They don't get stuck often though. Ours are going to get a workout tomorrow!! I'll get some action pics while I'm out there grooming! S.
  19. Well, all i want to say is " I told ya so". Christ, they CLOSED my kids school, with about 5" of snow on the ground. And you wonder why poeple freak out with a bit of snow.........they're taught it in school!!! What a JOKE!! S.
  20. anyone run an Alpine?? We have an '84, and '85. I'll take some pics. They will go anywhere, and pull anything. We use them for packing deep snow on the X-country ski trails. They are unstopable! S.
  21. All this for less than a foot of snow? No wonder T.O called in the army....good lord!! S.
  22. I find perch are hard on the knife too. Keep a good steel handy. You get good at it after a few thousand, trust me Make sure you have a good, sharp knife. S.
  23. What if the storm misses us and you have to cancel your plans?? You must have something planned for the day, right? Going fishing?? Get to work, slackers!!! S.
  24. I'd expect nothing less from YOU Dan. I know where you live, and what you do for a living too. I'm not new around here. I also fork out the cash and run the best tires I can afford, and yes, I run dedicated snow tires in the winter, always have, always will! I thought your comments were directed at me, since you quoted my last reply. Did you miss MY point?? I would never miss a day of work, due to weather!! I'd never miss a fishing trip due to weather either. I guess I kinda like the adventure of it all Safe travels!! S
  25. I missed your point Dan. Would you call in sick, due to a snow storm?? How about refuse to work.....because you had to drive in it?? Gimme a break!! People just get lazier and lazier. All we do is make up silly rules to help out the lazy, stupid people. It pisses me off!! People are already planning what they're going to do on the "snow day" this week, but its too bad to go to work......puuullleeaaase!!!! Get off your asses and go to work!~!!! Seems like anything is an excuse to get the easy way out nowadays. I wasn't brought up that way, and my kids won't be either. If its gonna be a snowy day, we get up a little earlier than normal so we can clear the drive, and get to work/school. That's how she goes, no excuses for a day off!!!!! If the buses aren't running (which is another whole rant) I DRIVE them in myself. Imagine, driving in snow.....in Canada no less S.
