  1. Roy,fyi-I make a day trip or two every year and fish the Ausable around Whiteface Mtn. This river is loaded with brownies with some up to 18-22 inches. One year I caught browns, rainbows, specs and a native brookie all in the same day at the Wilmington dam. Less than 2 hrs if you make a go at it.
  2. We all know high gas prices will be the norm for this summer. We can whine, complain, threaten a boycott but in the end we ARE going to pay what they say we are going to pay-period.What we can do is use common sense to try and maximize our gas consumption. Here are a few tips that I know of that helps with this.Feel free to add what you know as well. 1. Make sure your tires are properly inflated (very important) 2. Empty all unnecessary items that will weigh the car down. 3. Drive the speed limit or 10 km within 4. Use cruise control (if possible) on a stretch of highway. 5. Limit airconditioning on hwy (better to open windows a bit) Just following these 5 tips can decrease your expense by up to 30%
  3. Ahhh-Diplip is only trying to get his post count up.
  4. ...fished on the St Lawrence yesterday with Marc and a friend of his for the walleye opener. We did quite well with his friend jigging up a nice 4 lber right off the bat. We boated around 15 fish with many more lost. Water temps were between 52-55 and it was very apparent that the fish were in full spawn-totally fat with eggs. No doubt the hoards will be out this weekend en mass harvesting fish full of eggs. Darn late winter/early spring. Same in the Kawarthas??
  5. how about the guy who won first place-he must feel good about winning the right way.
  6. A Missouri angler is in hot water for allegedly cheating during a fishing tournament last Sunday. Acting on a tip, officers and agents of the Water Patrol and Conservation Department searched a duck blind and found two stringers with a bass on each one. The agents tagged the fish and then set up surveillance near the blind. On Sunday, during the tournament, angler Gary Jones allegedly arrived at the blind, retrieved the fish and put them in his livewell. Unfortunately for him, state agents were filming and caught Jones in the act. At the weigh-in, Jones had enough weight to finish in second place and he also had the third biggest bass of the tournament. All together, Jones won over $800 dollars in cash and prizes. As he left the stage however, Water Patrol officers arrested him. Authorities say Jones faces two to seven years behind bars if convicted.
  7. Sounds great Mike. I was also out with a father/son team yesterday AND it was for lakers too. Seeing junior catch his first and only laker on our last trolling pass was pretty nice too.

  16. Pretty amazing to think that after 81 games-the whole shebang comes down to their very last game of the season. I for one will be cheering for Les Canadiens and have a place reserved on my sofa at 7pm on Sat nite. I hope it will be stimulating hockey.
  17. search google ' 2007 QUEBEC FISHING REGULATIONS ' As for getting a license-same as in Ontario-any Canadian Tire store. Hope this helps
  18. Roy,for over 3 bills-did you take the meals deal?We brought our own food and kept the costs down. Also keep in mind their package deals include a boat but you must pay for a motor and gas daily. Kind of like a legend boat package if you ask me. They should make their prices accordingly including the WHOLE package. Tomcat-most of the replies in this thread are from Montrealers.
  19. been to Shannon a few years back. Nice place. Just dont go for the opener. Can be very hit and miss at that time of year.Cabins are fine with electricity-camp is run off a main generater. Main lake(Seguin) has tons of walleyes some big and poss for huge pike to 30 lbs. Great thing is you can drive to dozens of other lakes in there territory. They have a catch/release trophy lake but you MUST hire a guide to go there. Good place for the $$. I will be going back sometime.
  20. Bought a new GPS from Cabelas. Never had one or used one before so I went with something relatively simple, affordale and most importantly-something thats for what I need it for.......fishing. Price was 124.99 plus 12.00 shipping comes to 157.50 CAD. Checked here locally and was being offered for 199tx = 226.75 Pretty great deal I think. Says it comes with built in background map of continental US & Hawaii. What should I need to have that for Canada ? I have a lot to learn.
  21. ahhhhhhh-the ol' MARC THORPE EGO POSE. Kinda makes me feel like resurrecting the good old BEST OTTAWA RIVER GUIDE thread. C'MON SOFT WATER!!!! WTG Marc, what's next-PLAYGIRL ??!!!!???!!!!!
